- There are two classifications of tires: radial tires and bias ply tires. The classifications are based on a tire's construction and its features. A radial tyre features transverse radial plies that run perpendicular to the direction of travel. This assures less heat buildup and a softer ride. Moreover, radial tyres are manufactured with the plies laid radially which results in a more flexible tire wall. Bias ply tires are manufactured with the plies laid out diagonally, which causes the walls to not be as flexible.

Radial Tyres:
In radial tyres the steel belts run at a 90-degree angle with the tread line. It allows the sidewall and the tread of the tyre to function independently. Thus, there is low sidewall flex and more contact with the ground.
Bias Ply Tyres:
In bias ply tyres the nylon belts run at 30 to 45-degree angle with the tread line. The multiple, over lapping rubber plies in these tyres connect the sidewall and tread. The stiff internal construction causes less contact with the ground and may result in overheating.
Pros of Radial Tyres:
1. Runs cooler at highway speeds and under load
2. Steel belts provide tougher construction and higher puncture resistance
3. Uniform contact with the ground provides uniform tread wear
4. Wider footprint of these tyres keeps the vehicle stable
Cons of Radial Tyres:
1. Steel belt construction affects the ride quality adversely
2. Curb impacts can cause sidewall damage
3. Harder tread increases tyre noise
Pros of Bias Ply Tyres:
1. Tougher side walls due to the crosshatch construction
2. Smoother ride on rough surfaces
3. Less expensive than radial tyres
Cons of Bias Ply Tyres:
1. Tread wears faster due to higher traction
2. High rolling resistance can affect fuel economy
3. Roll-over effect causes loss of traction while cornering

When I bought Pulsar As150 it came with MRF Zapper FX rear tyre due to which Bike wasn't stable and in corners it couldn't take grip on roads. It led to many accidents especially on the corners, then I changed the stock ones with MRF Ogrip Meteor , the bike got nice stability and road grip. Sometimes stock aren't good always 🙂

I have fzs v2 it has radial tyre , is has best handling even in high speed , but yes if you have radial tyre we need frequent check tyre pressure as it is less noticeable but once you get use to bike you can notice it when ur bikes bounce more then regular.

Initially I thought that standard narrow tyre were made for regular commuter bikes for better fuel economy and radial tyre for high-speed sports bikes and cruiser bikes for better wide road grip and pulpy / spongy comfortable journey.

That little metal parts are used for balancing the rims. It’s called weight balancing (distribution of weight of the rims equally).

Disadvantage : less mileage, bike performance can decrease if you have low cc bike

Metzlers are good but less durable and prone to punctures, same with Pirelli streat demon.
Michellin offers good dry, wet grip and durability

*Yes in normal tyre u should fill less air according to your uses(if u ride with pillion/luggage) but in redial tyre i will suggest u to always fill 40PSI at rear and 30 or 35 PSI at front.*

It depends on your bike, riding habit, terrain.
Higher CC bikes 200CC+ Prefer Radial tyres(Michellin, Pirreli, Metzlers etc)
For lower CC bikes go for Ceat, MRF brands.
For rough roads, use cross ply tyres as they are tough and cheap.
For higher CC bikes and for good roads prefer Radial tyres.
