I actually really enjoy these longer setup guides. They give me so much inspiration for my own setup and are really beneficial as someone who enjoys a clean looking setup. Hope to see more videos like this :)

Honestly, I believe it's one of the best so far. Never thought I'd learn how to properly cable manage too. This guy taught me how do build a pc when I needed to build one for a project one time. It was cheap to build but worth it for the satisfaction of being able to make something that seems complicated to others, but once you understand how it works, you feel like a genius.
28:45 Lmao , look at the text message in his phone.
That's explaining grabbing a condom xD

10/10, really enjoy watching your videos. They have helped me build my set up. If it wasn’t for you the setup would be a nightmare. Your videos are entertaining and I also like how you add a little bit of comedy in them. Great video Ed, keep up. 💪🏽

It’s so cool looking at Ed making a whole setup with a small desk

X2
Me too
He was
11:30 best shot :D
jokes aside, I like everything, the only thing I wouldn't do on my desk, is drilling holes, even if it looks cleaner.
Me back in post lock down, I wouldn't care about cable management at all and my whole set up looks horrific. Now in 2024; realised that cable management is very important about a good looking set up; most important your room doesn't look like it came from the Amazon rain foreset. It is very satisfying to do your own cable management. Ed is a great inspiration on how to do cable management; therefore, he has an amazing person and a hard working youtuber!
The time I was early, Ed was still cable managing his own main setup
Me: watching something TechSource vid notification. Me: stops everything to watch it

The one reason I liked was because of how comfortable you looked throughout this entire video. Nice vibe it gave throughout the entire video

Oliver Sesmas oh yeah lol
8.5/10:
- The holes you drilled were bigger than they had to be. You have to hunt for them, but you can get grommets as small as 1 inch (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QMOTWI) that you could have used for the phone-charging stand (instead of the 1.5-inch ones you used), and you could have made the keyboard-wire hole smaller by running the type-C end through it instead of the type-A end
- Not enough commitment to the color scheme:
- The blue lights of the speakers, the blue and purple RGB on the PC, the green of the plant, the green sticker on the monitor, and the white keycaps clashed with the black/orange color scheme
- You should have painted/wrapped the table legs orange, or black
- You should have skinned the laptop and MX master
- I would have given yourself some more flexibility by calling it an orange/black/gray setup, rather than just orange/black
- The flexibility of the monitor mount could be handy, but you didn't talk about utilizing it, and based on the way you cable-managed it, I'm assuming you didn't plan on moving the monitor. With that in mind, you could have gone with a static mount to be able to have the mount point in the center of the desk rather than offset
- I would have brought the PC cables to the back edge of the desk instead of the left edge
- Minus 10 points for flossing
- You didn't mention incorporating the charging cable for the laptop into the setup; how do you charge it and still have it cable-managed? (I would get a second charging cable, cable-manage one into the setup at the stand, and keep one for traveling)
- Setup discussion didn't include a chair, so that's an unknown
- Audio sources are a personal preference, but the lack of easy support for headphones (from a cable-management perspective) is a negative in my opinion. Also no microphone, considering its a gaming setup, is a negative
- You didn't talk about using something like Synergy to use both the laptop and PC at the same time without having to flip switches on the peripherals; that would be a much more efficient use of the screen real estate
- The orange trees desktop background, while orange, doesn't fit the clean aesthetic. Something more abstract, like stripes, would have been better
okay, nerd
@@squirrelwholikeshentaiiam6798 he did what Tech Source asked for,he gave his opinion on this video and actually had very good ideeas for a cleaner setup, you don't have to be mean,he did get a lot of effort into this comment with constructive criticism that would actually improve everything :)))

8/10 because it has very little lighting but then again that comes down to personal preference. I know you don’t do this but a black and orange gaming chair would top off this setup!

Id love to see a setup that can be moved around and be kept in a single suitcase, would be great to see as i think many people move around a lot
We really loved this. Many people have a laptop and want a good setup but can't buy a PC, so watching a nice laptop setup like this is really cool, especially for students who have a laptop.

“Tiny but mighty” had me dead lmao
I would recommend a strong velcro in place of double side tape, just in case you want to easily swap out a component without ruining your furniture. I use 3m velcro to mount most things, especially the power bar. If I want to swap it out for a different one, or adjust anything, just rip it off like a bandaid, and viola you're done.
You guys know what this set up is missing?

"OOOOHHHH LOOOK AT THAT HOLE!" quote of the year.
No one:

For anyone who cares, the "portion" of the cable he is refering to at 7:49 , is a Ferrit Core, it's used to absorb frequencies that might interfere with other cablefrequencies, this is very common for USB2.0 devices but also nearly all Audiodevices etc. and different types of cables that use different frequencies instead of a steady one.
7:38 or you can just pass the cable the other way and plug it into the keyboard
Ed: do you know what it is missing?
Me: condoms
Ed: correct
you should put your setup in "setup wars". I like the aesthetic look. Also i like the cable management. Like you always say "Hide your cable".
Two thumbs up

"They are tiny but Mighty, something my wife often tells me at nights" -Ed from TechSource 2020
why everybody likes TechSource:
Ed offers the option unlike other UA-camrs, makes everybody feel important to have options, and then everybody drops a like.
"tiny but mighty, something my wife often tells me at night" 😂😂😂
7:50 it is called a Ferrite bead. It reduces EMI (electromagnetic interference) :)
This is a solid 9/10 and it has great cable management but there is always a chance to make it better
You should continue this series!
You could also giveaway the setups.
7:06 I was looking for the comment about this part of the video
07:35 The cylinder is called a ferrite bead, ferrite core, or, more generally, a choke. Cables can act like unintentional antennas, broadcasting electrical interference (“noise”) or picking it up. The appointed task of a ferrite core is to prevent such interference.
Him: "Plywood"
Editor: Particle Wood*
Me: PARTICLE BOARD!!!
28:02 ok
This whole setup is just amazing! Loved the finished product.
Me: see's him flossing
Also me: *checks the date*
When ur so early that there are more likes than views
yep youtubes drinking again
Yeah and there live stream chat is broken for me there probably about to pass out
A quick tip for mounting the power strip is to heat up the VHB Tape using a heat gun and it’s pretty much stuck for life. (Results may vary depending on the tape brand)
Next setup build should be: “Go play outside for once”
What do you do to all the parts that you use for the videos?, do you use them after or just keep them?.
Oh ok, thanks for the response.👍
7:53 this portion is called Choke or Ferrite Bead. Its important to suppress high frequencies which produces noise.
"good bang was already taken" LMAO
When your so early that all the comments are just "FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
gottem
ok. FIRST. hi nice vid
at 7:51 " This portion" is called ferrite bead which is used to filter out / ground the electrical interference( noise )
Its been a fat minute until i made a video about a setup...
Setup Wars: Am i a joke to you?
16:00 I like my mom's spaghetti tho...
In my honest opinion I will give u 9.5 out of 10.
Pros:
- the simplistic and aesthetic look.
- the cable management of course
- the custom keyboard
cons:
- I didn't like to slit the mouse pad so you can run the keyboard cable. I prefer to make the drill a hole for the cable above the mouse pad.
[ it's just my personal opinion ]
overall You have done a perfect job. Two thumbs up
When you have watched all setup wars episodes 😳
Jim k25 ok
"Tiny but mighty, something my wife often tells me at night" lol
22:54 *the monitor mount has its own cable management , you just need to unscrew the plastic that cover the monitor arm and put the cables inside.*
