I don't think I've ever seen a seed haul with two people and I love your dynamic 😂 we should all have to film a seed haul justifying our choices (and excesses) to our spouse
Home sick with the flu. All caught up with Garden Answer videos. Lucky me I found your videos, remembering that Laura gave you a shout out. Also in NY, our garden preferences seem to be very similar! I also lean very heavenly on my hydrangea and roses! Thank you for sharing your beautiful blooms, your knowledge, and your warm thoughtful nature. Great videos guys!!💚
I thought it was my cat meowing, so I put you on pause to go and see what was wrong, but she was sound asleep, all curled up on the couch. Slightly confused I came back and started watching you guys again, when you mentioned that Freya was meowing....lol! I think I may try a few of the seeds you mentioned, the vines in particular. You two are naturals in front of the camera....love your videos!
I just saw Jenny from Gardening with Creekside explain pansy / viola…pansies are a type of viola, that’s why they look so similar. But violas are not a type of pansy. Pansies have larger but fewer blooms than violas. Sooo looking forward to this year with you two! 🇨🇦❄️🇨🇦
Shanghai bok choy! Grew up eating this. It is a staple for hot pot and is just served raw and you cook it in the hot pot with a bunch of other raw meat, seafood and veggies. But my favorite way to eat it is sautéed with garlic, oyster sauce and sugar. Served with char siu (Chinese bbq pork) on the side with jasmine rice. The best comfort food I grew up eating. I have grown them and they are super easy to grow as well!
I grew the Ocelot watermelon from Johnny’s last season, they were delicious. You will need to plant a pollinator watermelon near it that will be sent with your order. Follow the directions for starting this seedless variety and you won’t have any issues.
Awesome video! I’m growing that little eggplant from botanical interests indoors in my hydroponic system; it is loaded with flowers and has one gorgeous eggplant ready to pick 💜🍆💜
Yeah! Great job, gentlemen. I have just started my onion and geranium seeds, along with adding a few more bottles of seed to my winter sowing collection, this week. Now I’ve finally began organizing all my other seeds, and figuring out when I need to start them. Doing all these tasks, and potting up some of my houseplants, is what will get me through this winter. Brrr! Can’t wait for spring!
I planted Amazlebasil from Proven Winners plus seeded a window box and. Large pot. Put away 14 small jars of pesto sauce plus used them as gifts! Wonderful!
My dears, you can grow watermelon in small areas. I grew the sugar baby watermelon and I trained it to grow up a trellis. I ended up with 8 watermelons. I did put a sleeve on them so they could be supported (I wasn't sure it was needed, but I felt the weight might be too much for the vine). I look forward to seeing you succeed and rip the rewards in the summer.
Good morning, snowing and cold here in PA. Thank you for some seed ideas for our garden. Always enjoy your videos! This time I had to check on cats I thought were crying, but it was yours…lol
You can dehydrate and crunch up herbs to use throughout the year. I dehydrate basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme, tarragon and many more and don’t have to buy those expensive little jars of herbs when fresh season is over.
I just found your channel. I'm enjoying your content. I'm slowly landscaping around our old tudor cottage. Looking forward to your real world content. You both seem so down to earth and real.
So happy you are continuing to tape during the winter months. We need your inspiration, humor, and shared gardening knowledge to get through the winter shutdown! It was fun to see your seed plans! You mentioned growing bok choi. I have a delicious bok choi salad recipe I can send you at harvest time. You spoke of your established verbena bonariensis again. Do you top dress with compost in those established areas without harming the verbena germination? Thanks for expanding my gardening world!
Best seed haul I've seen. The two of you reading the seed packets ..😂😂😂 Baker Creek should hire you to read them on their website . 😊 Looking forward to seeing your spring garden.
So much fun! I have obtained some seeds already, but you guys have inspired me in the herb area- the bronze fennel and dill in particular. I think I might just watch the video again and be purposeful in jotting more things down. Thanks!
I grow Bronze Fennel and it reseeds everywhere. I pull up the unwanted ones and let the rest grow with abandon. Butterflies love it and it’s a host plant for Swallowtail butterfly. I just love it. PS Bakersville Seeds is just up the road from me about one hour. Wonderful place. Love the Suyo cucumbers
Lol same! Give me a good story and I’m sold! That’s how my pumpkin patch ends up with such a variety lol. I don’t care for cucumbers either I mostly grow them for pickles or refrigerator pickles, if I don’t have time to can. I love the hyacinth bean, I’m also trying cathedral bells again this year hopefully better luck than last year. Loved this as always. Thanks for sharing guys!!
Thank you for sharing your plan for 2024! It made me feel like I’m a part of you both🥹. Anyway..I’ve just ordered seeds of bitter melon which is common vegetable for Okinawan (goya 「ごーやー」) grows in the hot climate…. Finger crossed🤞
This type of list is so inspiring for home landscape and manageable edible garden! At this point, lots of cutting garden flowers or massive amounts of produce just aren't for me. Appreciate you doing the research for us! I planted marigolds last season for the first time- Alumia Vanilla Cream, and the only drawback was they attracted more attention than my perennials. I got the most compliments on the marigolds!
We are certainly not cut flower gardeners or farmers for that matter. We love the process and the beauty of it. I’m very excited to see what comes about this year
That's why your list is so relatable for a gardener like me- Got me thinking about ways to put plants from seed into my landscape. Looking forward to seeing the results!
Tomatoes are my favorite garden candy. I grow about 2 dozen varieties.. I just finished roasting the last of my tomatoes for sauce. I am an suburban gardener on a quarter acre lot
I am so ready for spring! I have zinnias, strawflower, Shasta daisy, and cosmos seeds ready to go. And those tomatoes are beautiful!!! Are they like the size of cherry tomatoes?
I Have grown those cucumbers for years. Less big seeds and meaty. But best they aren't as acid as regular ones. Love your channel. Can't wait for your garden to see the changes you talk about. Thanks!
Good morning Christopher and Eric, great choices for your garden, the Angelica, Castor bean, thalictrum will be wonderful accents. Be careful with the ageratum, that variety can be very invasive, make sure you cut it back to the ground by the end of October so it does not reseed prolifically, I am in Virginia and made a mistake putting it in the garden. You both again have inspired me to start some of my seeds, we finally got the snow I so much desired😉have a great week, take care.
❤ your channel Wow, interesting to see the castor bean plant as a flower. In Jamaica 🇯🇲 we grow it for making our black castor oil. Is the cypress vine cold hardy? it’s a tropical in 🇯🇲.
I can’t wait to see how the Angelica turns out!!! I am waiting for some new seeds that are on the way! I almost got the Angelica and didn’t do it, I already had 26 packets in my cart so I thought I’d better stop there! Next order for sure! 😂 you can pickle the cucumber with that dill!!
Thanks for sharing your seed collection. Very nice. I had a hard time with the thalictrum r.last year winter sowing. Maybe I’ll try refrigerator this year. The marigolds are lovely as are the delphiniums. Will delphiniums First Year Flower?
omg, your video just popped up in my feed and thank god it did! i love you guys, i love your vibes, your attention to details, your connection... everything. i am a proud subscriber from now on :)
I grew two castor beans last year. A red one and a green one. I liked the green one better. It grew much bigger and bulkier. I am zone 3b. Love your videos.
What a fun video! I'm new to your channel and so glad I found it. I love your garden design and the plants you have in it. I already purchased my seeds for this coming year but cant stop myself from buying more. especially after seeing your seed haul!
Hey there! I grew corn in a grow bag and it did awful! I had two stalks in the grow bag and they were scrawny short and did tassel. No corn. They are on an east facing wall. That’s the only place I have that I can grow food because my husband is deathly afraid of bees and sprays everything! I’m in 5b now 6a. Thoughts? Deanna😊
Are any of the seeds in this haul going to be winter sowed? I’m having a hard time trying to figure out from Johnnys literature what seeds do well with this method. I live in CO and our direct sow growing season is too short. Sometimes we still have snow the end of May. I am anxious to try the winter seed approach. 😂
Love bok choy! Harvest baby plants and sauté with olive oil, S&P and a touch of garlic. Very simple. I would serve w/coconut curry rice and any protein.
Good morning!!! Sonia from Atlanta Georgia, love you guys!!! thank you for the inspiration and valuable information!!! If possible can you let me know where can I buy huckleberry yellow potatoes thank you
OMG! Loved all of your selections. I’ve never grown any vegetables but after seeing those dark little tomatoes and that lettuce I’m going to try them on my deck. Any suggestions for containers for those? What about water needs?
Good morning, great seed selection!! I will be going to our local seed swap 1/27 (same as Roxana Soil & Margaritas) hoping to obtain the rest of my seeds I want. I ordered from MIGardner this year great prices 😊

It works out. We both choose different things and get to figure out the puzzle of where to put it
We give out seeds all the time on our page and love your seed hauls GROW BIG
That's awesome! I'll check it out!

Our pleasure!
Try juiced beets with carrots, delicious!
Yum!

Ooh maybe we can try it on one of our obelisks!
Wait yall are funny 😆 & hearing your kitty makes me feel at home, mine is always talking away
haha thanks
I grew fairy tail eggplant 2 years ago .. they are quite prolific.. and delicious!
Good to know!
Good morning, snowing and cold here in PA. Thank you for some seed ideas for our garden. Always enjoy your videos!
This time I had to check on cats I thought were crying, but it was yours…lol
Isn’t Freja noisey!! Haha
Just brushed the snow off the rosemary and lovely and green underneath (zone 5b in mid Canada). Love your video❤️
Amazing!
great content ! thaaank you
Thanks!
Do plant the Merlot Lettuce. It is wonderful, very slow to bolt. Gorgeous on the plate.
Good to know!
I wouldn’t be opposed to you two cuddling Freya during your videos. She wants on camera too! 😂
She’s too wiggly!!!
Wonderful content! Double check the scent on the African Marigold if you want to deter rabbits. It is the scent that they don’t like. - Lori
Good point. I’ll check
It will be so fun to follow along in 2024!!! You have great seed choices, i might have to try a few! 👩🌾
Please do!
Thank you for sharing what you are planning for your garden this year 😊I’m excited to see what your seeds/plants do in the growing season
Me too!!
Try the moonflower vine; fragrant blooms at night and you can actually see the flowers open before your eyes. You won't be disappointed.
Ooh I like that
Well, I’ve went down the rabbit hole and placed my first order this morning with Johnny’s Seeds while watching your seed haul🤞🏻 🌸 🌱
Wonderful!

@@growformegardening Thank you!
Don’t you just love free seeds 😊 I got genovese basil, a hot pepper and wasabi radish seed packs with my BC order ❤

Watching this right now and getting a kick out of you both reading the descriptions. Going to add the meadow rue to my yard. Looks gorgeous!

The bunny's love my asters. We'll see if I can get them to leave them alone this year😊 May be in pots
Can’t hurt to try
Are you guys buying the cardinal red dogwood so you'll have the wood for your winter containers and not have to but the stems? It's on my list.
We will be on the lookout for them
I grew two castor beans last year. A red one and a green one. I liked the green one better. It grew much bigger and bulkier. I am zone 3b.

Thanks, what great suggestions, with some I have never heard of before ! 🌸🇨🇦
So glad!
I would love to see how you make your paella!
Eric uses a recipe from the Boqueria cookbook!
I planted marigolds one day and the rabbits cleared them off the next day! Bonny
Jerks
Ooooo…I LOVE the lavender mist thalictrum!! Heading to find seeds now.
You might have trouble finding seeds. I have been collecting seeds from the plants we have.
@@growformegardening yes. I’m noticing that. I’ll add it to my ever growing wishlist.

Personally I only winter sow things that perennials for us. That’s why I do the thalictrum that way.
Really interested in that castor bean plant! So interesting with great foliage. Looks really tall in pictures online.
It is! It’s going to be fun
Good morning... first year of gardening, I bought a bunch of plants... once they started flowering, they were all orange 😂
Monochromatic can still be beautiful!
Love bok choy! Harvest baby plants and sauté with olive oil, S&P and a touch of garlic. Very simple. I would serve w/coconut curry rice and any protein.
Perfect!!! Thank you!
Try the purple bell vine gorgeous.
Great idea!!
The Impatient Gardner has a video on UA-cam about it.
I’ve seen it actually. I love the color
Good morning!!! Sonia from Atlanta Georgia, love you guys!!! thank you for the inspiration and valuable information!!! If possible can you let me know where can I buy huckleberry yellow potatoes thank you

You could totally do a grow bag. Keep up the watering, they grow pretty fast
@@growformegardening Regular potting soil? I buy the good stuff but not sure if it was too heavy for vegetables?
Regular is great! We use Coast of Maine

I just heard about the MIGardner seeds. I will look there next season
Take a peek at Prairie Moon for fantastic out of the ordinary seed choices. Sorry to your wallets. Hehehe.
I think I have that catalog waiting to be looked at!
Is there a sign-up sheet for the Paella Garden Party?
We might need a bigger paella pan
@@growformegardening I can bring the Ambrosia salad 😄
Haha love it
Good morning! I ordered the bronze fennel because of how beautiful yours looked, is there a reason your not growing it this year? Have you ever tried the obedient plant, it's part of the mint family. We have reworked the spot where we had the fennel last night year. We want to plant it but we aren’t sure quite where! Obedient plant looks cool…I will look into more
Fennel is a Black Swallowtail Caterpillar host plant. Must have in my garden. Great in containers.
@@teresaseggerman9402 I'm excited to grow it! I grow milkweed for the Monarch so the more the merrier!
Yes!!
delphinium is short term perenial. 3.4 yrs max :-)
It’s perfect for a spot you might want to change
Well I thought next year I would start seeds, but looks like I will this year. Ordered the containers and seeds. Just like mushrooms, I remove them as I'm not good at classifications on what's poisonous or not. You should see me with gloves, glasses and mask. Did you ever get the kind of fear, or found that you were allergic to anything?
I did! Turns out the sap from the bronze fennel gave me a photosensitive reaction. Nothing painful but five months later I have a little dark spot on my wrist
The cat came in to say Delphiniums are poisonous to cats lol
Oh yes. That’s another reason I duct taped our greenhouse to the ground
Rabbits eat marigold in my garden 😄
Well crap
Sorry guys… rabbits liked to eat the greens😉
But then again he ate bird seed instead of lettuce 🤷🏻♀️
The greens are staying in the raised beds!
These little critters needs to stay away!
Just so you know, I believe the castor bean is poisonous.
Yes we are aware!
