    I've had my "Diamond" for 2.5 wks now and OMC, I'm in ❤️!!!
    I've had no problems with power or blind spots. I love the safety features, and the seats. I've had so many looks and questions from random peeps. Certainly an eye catcher.
    My only complaints would be the Toyota Link app. It's tricky to download. Also the talk button feature can be twitchy. I don't have any issues with the head unit besides that though.

    Love how the North American version lacks the nice color combinations, Led tail lights, led headlights, newer head unit, leather seating option. I just don't understand how Toyota could think it's cheaper to manufacture different versions of the same parts instead of making them all the same. I'd buy the car in a heartbeat if they would add leather option, some engine options (US only gets a 2.0 i4 that doesn't even sport direct injection) and ditch the bloody incandescent taillights. Really kills the sporty look in the back.

      I completely agree with you. I've been looking for a small SUV to commute with daily in NYC and this crossover really has everything I've been looking for in terms of pricing, reliability and just a simple everyday commute.
      I am one of those younger more image cautious people and this would have been my first Toyota.
      but now..I'm leaning towards not purchasing a CH-R because of the lack in options. I wouldn't mind paying for options such as leather, awd, heated seats, I could do without the nav but they can throw that option in there. I do appreciate the automatic windows and and blind spot monitor system and the automatic key entry is a nice plus. But seeing the Euro Spec CH-R vs the US Spec CH-R really makes me not want the US Spec one.
      Untill Toyota does something about the current options I will not be purchasing one. Same goes for an uncle of mine who just purchased a RAV4 and likes the design of the CH-R.

      totally agree dude, and even so, i hope toyota gonna add sunroof, power seat and 360 cam to this chr, that should be perfect. Maybe have more options on engine, i dont think 2.0 i4 or 1.2 turbo can stay alive in canada, holy cow. At least, i need 1.5 turbo, same as Civic tho.

    So he says the engine does not have enough power, the trans is no good, the rear visibility is terrible, the steering wheel is too low, the drivers seat is too high, the noise in the cabin is too loud, but overall he likes it!

    • @carsguide
      @carsguide  7 років тому +4

      The chassis is excellent - the ride is great, the handling is good. Plus it looks great. I can forgive the visibility and not quite right driving position. That engine and trans tho.... Still the good really outweighs the not so good. RB

  • @nickblets69
    @nickblets69 6 років тому +1

    Hey Richard, next time you're testing a car's uphill performance in Wallace Street Marrickville, don't forget to do a rollback. For those that don't know what a rollback is, it's when you drive the car halfway up the street, then stop the car in the middle of the road, put the gearbox in neutral, release the brake and let the car roll backwards until it reaches a speed of at least 20 kph, press and hold in clutch, select first gear, rev and hold the engine revs to redline, drop the clutch and keep the foot on the accelerator pedal. You can possibly do this in a car fitted with an auto transmission, but I wouldn't recommended.

    • @carsguide
      @carsguide  6 років тому

      Ha! Oh crikey, sorry it's a good hill and no other incline in the area exposes the weakness of a drivetrain and traction capabilities quite like Wallace Street. As for the rollback, I'd never be so careless to give that a go ; ) Richard Berry

    • @nickblets69
      @nickblets69 6 років тому

      Come on mate, live a little he he. That's how my friends and I use to test all our car's drivetrain. That street was well known for doing roll backs. We even named it "Roll back street" back in the good ol fun days. I'm sure the neighbours from back then don't miss us lol.

    Youthfull stylish car . I love it's crazy design that makes toyota contomporary car producer and very responsive for youngers demands. People who deslike some of CHR design like its small back window etc can go to buy Rav4 that fit them and let this modern and lovable car desighn for youngers and teengers who have cruch on it. Keep it up toyota and never transform this stylish CHR to normal poor RAV4 ^^

    I test drove it and while its CVT was better than Nissan and Kia, CVT needs more frequent maintenance and is less reliable.
    I loved the C-HR design but it really needs more power. I heard that a manual transmission is offered outside of the US which would have encouraged me to consider it.
    Ideally, it needs the Camry's 2.5 litre engine and needs a manual transmission version and a sunroof, and Apple Carplay.

    We are empty nesters (but not old and stooped) and have had lots of new Corollas for many years. We have just ordered a C-HR over the new Corolla. Why? It has a higher seating position, more features in the base model and seemed to be more practical. Umm, did not notice the reverse park vision, ooops, so hopefully we get used to that. We gave it some welly on the M1and it was fine.

    Help: I want to buy one, but my old man reckons the motor is too small and will have issues in the future. Is he right ? Or trying to deter me. Lol.

    • @carsguide
      @carsguide  5 років тому +1

      Your old man is wise and it would have been much more preferable if Australia got the 2.0-litre engine, but the 1.2 is grunty and produces 185Nm of torque which is plenty. It all depends on what you'll use it for - if you're planning to load it up all the time with people and cargo that'll weigh it down and make it work hard, then I'd suggest something else. A Hyundai Kona could be the way to go - these a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.0 petrol. Both a great. Hope that helps, cheers Richard

    I saw it from my Passat's Syncro g60 driver point of view:
    "
    August 2017
    #19
    vs Toyota C-HR
    Going, loosely, at home, having 100 kgr load into the trunk, saw suddenly this new Toyota flashing lights.
    The road, a challenging one, mentioned in my previous stories, since, usually, is traffic free with two rows per direction, having a wide islet in the middle, and with very few and insignificant side crossroads.
    But, most importantly, is an uphill road, so many drivers, rather unintentionally, are trying to check their drives.
    It is very interesting and exciting, for sure, to be in a shiny new car, with all the late fancy technology.
    Now if the same feelings persist after you have met a 25 years old car, which you don't know exactly what it is, apart the VW emblem, is questionable.
    You see, flashing your lights at this geriatric VW, in order to free this wide and challenging road to check your new car, going uphill, you have the feeling that something is wrong, your car cannot follow, and most importantly, in a few minutes the geriatric, (according to your opinion), old thing, is far-far away in the front of you, at the top of the low hill, having no hope to catch any more. (But you cannot follow, at least, even with the highway blues, because your SUV is not a real SUV, is not a 4wd car. You see, when you bought it, the hipsters didn't know what it is or what to do with the 4wd. That's why there are now manufacturers which produce SUVs without 4wd at all, not even as an option!).
    With 1320 kgr. (about), and 140 hp at most, (best case scenario, at least for the moment), there was, really, no chance, even me having 100 kgr, extra load into the trunk. (Passatitsa: ~200 hp, ~1380 kgr., with the current configuration and, of course, 4wd).
    Very funny!"

    An AWD and a peppier engine would definitely give it more appeal. Now it´s just a taller Yaris with quirky looks... but hey, that´s what people like...

    To me it's not a small cuv if it doesn't have awd. Like it says it's just a big hatchback.

    Koba is actually one of Joseph Stalin's nicknames. His closest friends used to call him like that, like president Mikhail Kalinin or marshal Kliment Voroshilov.
