1 hour and 15 minutes of pictures isn't very interesting. This cool of a project should have been done video style. Even if you have to do multiple videos. Jmo.
@@Pedroisanickname my comment has nothing to do with me knowing what the channel is about or not. I was giving my opinion as someone that is not a subscriber. I saw this video and was attracted by it because of the car. I lost interest when realized this was an hour and 15 minutes of pictures only. It's called constructive criticism. I am sure they can appreciate that.
While I understand where you are coming from I have to respectfully disagree. Having owned an 87 GN from 1992 to 2004 and being a DIY'er, I can say that I got to know every square inch of that car. Seeing photo after photo of parts that I was able to name and identify reminded me so much of my younger yesteryear's. Then watching those parts get restored one by one was phenomenal. I was grateful to see a car that for most of us was worthy of the junkyard restored back to life. While a video would have explained things, it would have a take a damn good narrator for me. I was happy just watching it pass picture by picture until the very end.

Man it’s crazy how when these cars were made nobody probably thought they would be so popular and hard to find man that’s a rare find and still a natural beauty definition of a diamond in the rough
*In my 87 GN I had the 4140 forged stroker crank kit from archie who owns gn1 dot com and the big 72MM ball bearing turbo and alot of other parts. Spent little over $10K on parts alone on that car and It was an absolute beast, turbo was spoiling out 30 lbs of boost when getting on the gas. I traded that car in 2018 for a white and gold 69 Hurst/Olds 442 with the 455 and this car is badass too but I still miss the GN and never drove a car that hooked and pulled as hard as that car.*
Mines been sitting for 20 years too, but it don’t look like that! I don’t understand how someone could let it rot away like that. Mine sleeps in a garage and still gets waxed a few times a year
Thank you for rescuing another American classic. The fact it’s not a GNX is irrelevant in that the work you’ve done ASC/ McLaren would tip their racing cap to your shop, as do I. Happy boosting!
Got to hand it to them exhaust systems of the day, factory exhaust and the car has obviously sat under water at some time and the exhaust looks perfect beyond some surface rust. I have a 1993 olds and has the factory stainless steel exhaust in it in perfect condition.
I found a low mileage Grand national sitting by somebody's house, weeds are growing up around it, looked underneath and it was starting to rot. Which was too bad because the car was mint. Ask the guy if he wanted to sell, yeah he'd sell it. He wanted as much as one that is 100% mint. Must be nobody wants to pay that price cuz there it still sits. Some people are unrealistic when it comes to vehicles.
Oh hell yeah, in Australia that iconic 3.8 is a naturally aspirated cult classic known as the " mang " as once they are on the limiter " mang mang mang " 🖤🧡
that was the roughest looking gn i've ever seen. glad someone took on the task to save it. the g body is known for its rear frame horns rotting out but this one didn't look bad.
Truly a 1987 Grand National. Not an ASC/McLaren GNX but an awesome car and restoration regardless. Just take GNX out of your video title and you can avoid ignorant people comments. I'm clicking for Grand National all day not just GNX!
I found a abandoned Grand National just like this in Brooklyn finally find the owner and he doesn’t want to sell it. It breaks my heart to see it in that condition.
Who would abandon such a rare model, turbo charged, highly sought model, rarely seen, limited quantities made, and to think that these cars if you are looking for one are top dollar, that a lot of people are making clones of the Buick Grand National, happy somebody is giving a good thorough cleaning and a new home to such a rare car,👌👍🙂😃😀

This restoration was incredible. I love that it was completely dissembled; a truly thorough job. Were any components replaced with better, modern components? For example, are the injectors better than factory?
It must be the turbo that does it. I had one as a rental car in 1982 when I visited the USA. It had no turbo; the acceleration of a stunned sloth and the road-holding of a cart-sprung marshmallow. Glad to give it back at the time, but had I known what they are going for now, I'd have bought one and shipped it to the UK. Ah well! :-)
