Thank you SO much for your videos. I am not a mechanic, but by following your directions, I recently adjusted the valves on my 2008 Element, and it’s running so much better. Please know that you are TRULY appreciated for the time and effort you put into helping others through your channel!

I followed your video to the T and the valve adjustment has fixed my stalling/running rich condition! All but two valves were below half the spec!

Great video, great lighting and framing! I just did my adjustment last week. All I would add is make sure your feeler guage is exactly flat in the gap / orthogonal to the valve axis of motion, otherwise it tends to bind, even if it's off by just a couple degrees. I bent mine to the exact angle to make it slide in straighter. Also inspect cam lobes for pitting and wear.

What is that tool that he used to stick into the valve to measure it? Are they different thickness for each valve witch mean 4 pieces of tool? Thx in advance.

Thanks, Danny for this video. I, too, just had my Element's valves adjusted. I didn't do it but had my Honda indie did a great. Found out that all the exhaust valves were tight. Now, they are fine. Keep doing these videos. They help out a lot.

I just adjusted mine. Here’s my findings-
    ‘08 SC w/175K miles, manual.
All exhaust side valves were tight, only one on intake side. If you take the power steering hose off, only do it for a second! I found a puddle of PS fluid under the E when done haha.
Much thanks for the video Danny! It was so easy to follow. My stalling problem is now gone!

Used your video this morning to help adjust the valves on my 03 EX 95000 miles ... They were all in spec ...however the exhaust was at the tight end of the spec and the intake was a little loose ...we are talking 1-2 Thousands of an inch ..pretty fiddly ..I am waiting on parts to fix a power steering leak ..the valve cover was leaking also ...so it just made sense except for the heat ..id like to wait till the fall to do this ...
Didn't use your marks ..the 03 is a little different the plastic on the chain guide is smaller so you can't mark it like you said ...I used the marks for #1 then just turned the motor till the cam lobe was on the lowest part to adjust the rest ...
The power steering leak got the belt oily so the power steering pump wouldn't turn it ...just slipped ..replacing that too ...The Cams have 8 sided hex built into them ..I used a wrench to turn them over ... Gonna clean paint and prep the cover now and put it back this evening when it's cool ..Power steering part won't be here for 3-4 days ...so there is no hurry ..

@@SDPosse619 so true! Eric the car guy said get TDC on intake side and then do both intake and exhaust clearance. Then later in the video he shows how he brought the exhaust side to TDC! Also this video does not just look at the cam lobes to "guess" TDC but the others appear to.

Can overdoing the exhaust side valves too loose, result in a noiser engine?
I did this adjustment before watching your video, but I did the exhaust side looser than OEM Spec, and I think it has caused the engine to run louder at idle, I am not sure.

    • @dannysdiygarage
