  • Are you living in an adulterous relationship if you have been divorced and are now remarried? What do Jesus' teachings in the Gospels and the rest of Scripture have to say? In this Little Lesson, I explain the importance of discussing this issue in context of what the whole Bible says.

I read some of the comments on here and this is mine. Its always easy for someone to spout out verses against remarriage that hasnt had to go through a terrible adulterous marriage. Or even a very abusive marriage. So Jesus wants us to be cheated on and beaten for the sake of covenant? I dont believe that for one second. So people aren't going to spend the rest of their lives single and without a relationship. So believeing they can't remarry drives people into sin far more than a remarriage.

      1 Corinthians 7:15
But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.
      Matthew 7
1Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
I find it appalling when so-called Christians judge others with zero compassion and attempt to convince them into bondage of flesh and law instead of Spirit and blood.
Fighting about sins is not saving souls.

So, if a brother or sister talks to God about his/her situation, let them listen to God and not to the Pharisees who were going around charging others with evil. Gal. 5:19-21 mentions a lot of things besides adultery. Check this out: fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations (jealousy), wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings ...
I think you have enough to say grace over if you can abstain from all of that. So, according to the scriptures your hatred is just as bad as adultery.

Do those calling themselves disciples of Christ actually understand the concept of repentance and the difference between repentance and a past sin? NO SIN can be forgiven UNTIL repented of. Simple mathematics. In other words, the sin itself MUST STOP. And IF someone is married to another while their first wife is still alive, this IS the continued sin of adultery AS DEFINED by God and therefore it HAS NOT BEEN repented of (OR STOPPED). Unless repentance, no forgiveness. Unless forgiveness, no Heaven. Thus repentance is foundational. If A=B AND B =C, then A=C. Sin, repentance, forgiveness and salvation are as easy as simple algebra, WITHOUT exception.

@@thetruthsadvocate4934 I never said anything about the scripture being untrue. You keep posting that let's me know you sadly deal with self-righteousness. Instead of listening or looking intently at a person, you just spout scripture unnecessarily. Even Jesus didn't do that. When He walked this earth he loved the deepest dinners and detested religious people quoting scripture to try and rule over people. Fortunately, your quoting doesn't affect me one bit because I KNOW Him. I love Him and He loves me. I feel sorry for people who are weak to the enemy's rhetoric covered in religious disguise. If you paid attention, no one is saying the scripture is false. Your interpretation is partially wrong. And please understand that people break His rules everyday. That is sin. You break it now with your repeated quoting of scripture to try and guilt someone. But the Bible says, do not lie....yet people still do. We are to honor parents....some don't. We shouldn't fornicate....it still happens. That's sin. All is forgiven and redeemed in Christ except blasphemy. But for this marriage issue if both parties are single, yes pray for restoration with everything in you. But if the other party sleeps around and chooses to divorce, the abandon spouse IS free. The Bible states in 1 Corinthians 6:16 - "Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” A joining of another body had occurred with adultery so a splitting must occur. We pray the harlot is split away, but sometimes the spouse ends from the other spouse. That's why allowed with divorce because adultery brings in another union. And then read Deuteronomy 24:1-4...after a remarriage we shouldn't go back to first spouse, but people still do it. We are sinners. The point is that once God reveals the Truth to us in Christ, we are to go and sin no more. So stop trying to make someone feel guilty of a past sin! You are commiting self-righteousness and need to repent of that as well.

      Tatiana J. ,
Luke 16 :18 is a Rule that has only one exception : "except for unfaithfulness" , in short , that appears in Matthew 5 : 32 .
An exception to a rule is always the opposite of that rule ; so , in full , the exception to Luke 16:18 is the opposite of Luke 16 : 18 , that's to say this : " whosoever divorces his wife FOR UNFAITHFULNESS and marries another doesn't commit adultery , and ( therefore) whosoever marrieth her that is divorced doesn't commit adultery .

    • @EXODUSVERSESto
      @EXODUSVERSESto 5 років тому

      @Liz P. ,
Why Jesus doesn't authorize divorce for any reason that's not unfaithfulness ? It's because the husband exposes his wife to adultery .
Why Jesus authorizes divorce for unfaithfulness ? It's because whoever divorces his wife for unfaithfulness doesn't expose her to adultery.
To demonstrate that , let's use what Jesus said in Matthew 5 verse 32 : " But I tell you whoever divorces his wife , except for unfaithfulness, exposes her to adultery, and he who marries a divorced woman commits adultery ".
That verse is the combination of a Rule and the exception to that Rule .
Here's the Rule : " But I tell you whoever divorces his wife exposes her to adultery , and he who marries a divorced woman commits adultery ".
Here's, in short , the exception to that Rule : " except for unfaithfulness ".
An exception to a rule is always the opposite of that rule , or an exception to a rule always produces opposite consequences to those of a rule , right ?
So , in full , the exception to the Rule above is this : " But I tell you whoever divorces his wife FOR UNFAITHFULNESS DOESN'T EXPOSE HER TO ADULTERY, and ( therefore ) he who marries that divorced woman DOESN'T COMMIT ADULTERY ".
When there is divorce for unfaithfulness, there is really separation between the two persons , because it's God who authorizes that divorce ; so it's God , not man , who separates what he had joined .
So , for unfaithfulness, divorce is permitted and remarriage is not adultery.
However, when whoever divorces his wife for a reason that's not unfaithfulness, for Jesus the two persons are not separated , they are still married even if they have divorce documents , even if they don't live together anymore ; that's why that woman is exposed to adultery if she remarries an other man , also that's why that man can't marry an other woman since his wife is still alive ; he can remarries after wife's death .
      I hope I help .
      Blessings !

@sploofmonkey That's false. Matthew 5:32 trips everybody up, especially if you're not studying the scriptures. That exception clause was referring to the 1st century Jews tradition of a betrothal period, which we know as an engagement. The difference is this betrothal was so serious that the man & woman were considered husband&wife before even making their vows. If that "husband" discover that his "wife" really wasn't a virgin, he could "divorce" her or put her away. The original text was changed from "except for fornication" to "except for sexual immorality" You have to read from the KJV bible, these new translations are changing these scripture to cause confusion(a trick of the enemy). This scripture has the world thinking adultery is grounds for divorce. When in God's eyes there is no divorce, the marriage covenant is until death do you part. It's literally in the marriage vows.

You need to be very careful what you speak to others, "By your words you will be condemned , and by your words you will be justified". you see if what you are saying is true, it would contradict every other scripture on this doctrine, If you look at the verses Matt 5; 31" It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:".... that was what was happening, based on what Deuteronomy said, and Jesus said to the scribes and pharisees....."Moses allowed that because of the hardness of your heart"...... it was never God's will.
32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication (porneia), causeth her to commit adultery (moicheuó): and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
      @Separate issues
If we are looking at this in it's context , we see that firstly the 2 words Fornication and Adultery , are 2 separate words in the same verse, with 2 meanings (Sex before marriage, and sex after marriage) ,...the betrothal period was the time between asking for the girl to marry him after working the details of the dowry and any other thoughts/concerns between the girls parents and the would be husband ,.... and the girl accepting him , beginning the process leading up to the consummation of the marriage. ...engagement period, .....in like terms we are in the engagement period of our marriage to Jesus it hasn't been consummated yet. As Paul said "We are being saved".
No where is their any mention of justifiable remarriage in anything Jesus says, what we can see in the verse is a means to get out of the betrothal process before the consummation of the marriage, even under the law one could get out of the process, on the day/night of consummation if the would be wife were proven not to be a Virgin , this is what Jesus was eluding to (The Exception), and we see that example in the story of Joseph and Mary , in fact if we in our western world engagement period, we also can get out of our proposal for marriage if our wife/husband to be, is unfaithful in the engagement period.
The mention of remarriage in this verse condemns both parties as "Adulterers" if they marry after a divorce, and we see in other scriptures that anyone who marries another while their spouse is still alive "Will be called an "Adulterer".
To understand this better , look up what it is to be a "eunuch for the kingdom of God's sake"
People can get divorced, but it is better to forgive and let God heal your marriage and bring your children up in the ways of the Lord. pray for your husbands and your wives , that the evil one will have no part of them , before the trouble and discord comes .

I want to know something, for real. My wife of 11 years, was cheating on me for 4 years of my marriage.
I was her second marriage, but she was my first. We have children together.
She told me she wanted out because she didn't love me anymore and didn't want to be married to me anymore. I gave her what she wanted.
It was finalized this past spring.
I've watched alot of different videos from numerous people teaching on this, everyone is either straight against remarriage citing the old covenant or they are either citing a new covenant.
Mind you, my wife left me for another man and by what I've heard, watched, and read, maybe I should have never married her in the first place, seeing how she was married before me.
All I know, is my heart has been destroyed, my family broken, I'm broken.
I just wanted someone to love me until I died.
So what am I supposed to do?
I'm asking all this from my heart.
Am I destined to be alone forever, never feeling the touch of a woman again, a hug, a kiss, an I LOVE YOU?
I just want the real truth, not opinions.
    Very confused

Alex MP 1 Cor 7:15 is talking about an unbeliever who wants to depart. The scripture says that in such a case the believer is not under bondage. Here is the problem . Many churches teach that not under bondage means that the believer is free to remarry . Wrong !! It is not saying that at all. Paul uses two different words for bondage. In Rom 7:2 ; 1 Cor 7: 27, 39 it is talking about the bondage of marriage but in 1 Cor 7:15 a different word is used which refers to being enslaved or servitude ....in 1 Cor 7:10-11 it actually says that if a wife leaves let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband and that the man must not leave his wife so there is no contradiction here .
If the unbeliever in 1 Cor 7:15 leaves, the spouse is not their servant or slave BUT the marriage ties remain until death.

      Romans 3:
      21. But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. 22. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.

"You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace."
      (Galatians 2:21)
"I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die."
      (Romans 13:9)
The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not steal," "You shall not covet," and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

You won't get any condemnation from me concerning your remarriage, nor will you from any rational reading of The Word. There is nothing concerning your remarriage that needs forgiving.
I cannot for the life of me understand how any rational being can regard any remarriage as inherently sinful when there is a living former spouse. This is especially true if the divorce were initiated on just grounds (immorality, abuse, abandonment, etc).
When Jesus spoke those words in Matt 19:9, He was referring to divorces initiated in bad faith to cast aside a current spouse to pursue another. He was not referring to someone who remarries after fleeing an abusive situation.

She filed for divorce and went on to sow her oats. I was devastated and didn't want anything to do with God or church. After 5 years of casual dating, I met an incredible non- Christian woman. After a year of dating we married, I was wanting to get back into a relationship with God and find a church. She agreed and she wanted to follow me in that direction, It surprised me. When a person gets saved they have to repent from all their wicked ways which would included previous or current adulterous unions. • @joedixon6319
      @joedixon6319 6 років тому +28

With all due respect, I don't think it was God who told you to keep living with the adulterous union that you currently have. It's your flesh telling you what it wants, and that's why it's important to crucify the flesh and follow God's will. The flesh doesn't want to have to deal with the rigors of what true repentance requires like Zacchaeus the tax collector was willing to restitute to the people he had defrauded prior to his becoming a follower of Christ.
After Zacchaeus gave his life to Christ Zacchaeus didn't say God has forgiven me so I don't need to return what I wrongfully took. You see when a previously married man gets a man made divorce and takes another woman, in God's eyes, that man is committing fraud a.k.a adultery, and if you get born again, restitution must be made.
If you stole another man's child to raise as your own prior to your giving your life to Christ, do you really think God is not going to expect you to give back what does not rightfully belong to you? You're going to have to return the stolen child. God never said it would be easy but eternal life is much more important than anything that this life can offer you. Your first wife, for as long as she is still breathing, saved or unsaved, will always be your wife no matter what. Till death do you part. That first wife belongs to you, and you should be praying and fasting for her to get saved, and reconcile, if possible. Worst case scenario, if your wife doesn't want to reconcile, you will have to remain single. Eternal damnation is not worth the gamble. Remember this is your eternal soul we're talking about.

What is significant about adultery in remarriage?
When Jesus said, "whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery" (Matt. 5:32; Matt. 19:9) He said something significant that I did not see for a long time. When Jesus made that statement, He was stating that divorce does not end the first marriage. People have always assumed that divorce ends the first marriage, but Jesus said that it is not true. The sin of adultery can only occur if one or both of the persons involved is married. If neither of the persons are married the term adultery cannot be used. When Jesus said that "whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery", He was stating that when a man marries a divorced woman he is living with another man's wife and therefore is guilty of adultery. Divorce does not make a man or a woman single again. Divorce does not end a person's first marriage. That is why a person commits adultery when they marry and live with a divorced person.
Do you get the significance of Jesus' use of the word adultery? Adultery could not occur in remarriage if divorce ended the first marriage. Adultery can only occur in remarriage because the divorced spouse is still married to their first marriage partner in Jesus' judgment. (Jesus is the Judge we will stand before, for our hearing on Judgment Day and it is important that we understand our Judge's reasoning and logic if we want to enter Heaven.)
The significance of the sin of adultery in remarriage is that divorce does not end a person's first marriage! God has joined the husband and wife together as one. "And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.'" Matt. 19:4-6. Man's civil action of divorce in the court system of this earth, does not end the "one flesh and one spirit" aspect of the marriage that God has joined together.
Adultery in Remarriage: An Act or a State?
Is the adultery a one time act that occurs only on the day of remarriage or is the adultery the sexual union of the remarried man and woman throughout their marriage? This question is often phrased: "Is it (the sin of adultery) an act or a state?" Many would like to view the adultery in remarriage as a one time act because then the remarried couple can repent of their one time act and continue in their remarried state without separating or making any other changes. But is the adultery in remarriage only a one time act?
The term "commiteth" (adultery) in Matt. 19:9; and Matt. 5:32 is in the present indicative. Spiros Zodhiates states that "The present tense represents contemporaneous action, as opposed to action in the past or the future. It normally refers to continuous or repeated action. However, in the indicative mood, it may represent punctiliar action. The indicative mood is the only mood in which distinctions can regularly be made about the time when an action occurs. Examples: he will go, they had said, she saw."1 Therefore, the phrase "commits adultery" may refer to a specific time when adultery occurs but it may also refer to continuous or repeated action of adultery. Some have used the present indicative definition to state that the adultery only occurs one time at marriage and does not occur after that. However that conclusion cannot be decisively made from the present indicative. Every act of adultery (sexual relations in remarriage) occurs at a specific point in time and all repeated acts of adultery occur at specific points in time. At the same time the present indicative does not indicate that the act of adultery cannot or does not occur again. There is the possibility with the present indicative that continuous or repeated action of adultery does occur.
God states that the sexual intercourse of a divorced and remarried couple is adultery. Therefore each time they have sexual intercourse they commit an act of adultery. As they continue to have sexual relations and there is no repentance, it becomes a state of adultery. Therefore, adultery in remarriage is both an act each time it occurs, and a continuing state of sinning. The action of remarriage is not adultery.
Both an act or a state of adultery, is sin. Either one bars one from fellowship with Jesus and from entering Heaven. One is guilty of sin before God until they have repented of the sin and stopped the sin. One cannot repent of the "act" adultery but continue in it and expect God to ignore the fact that they are continuing to commit adultery.

IF TWO PEOPLE REMARRY BEFORE THE FIRST SPOUSES DIES AND THE FIRST SPOUSE DIES THEN THEY ARE STILL ADULTERERS EVEN AFTER THE FIRST HUSBAND DIES BECAUSE THE ALLOWANCE IS ONLY FOR THOSE WHO REMAINED TRUE TO THEIR FIRST MARRIAGE WHILE HE WAS LIVING THE DEATH OF YOUR FIRST SPOUSE DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO BE FREE FROM THE LAW OF GOD UNTIL YOU REPENT OF THE SECOND MARRIAGE THEN AND ONLY THEN ARE YOU FREE TO REMARRY SOMEONE ELSE BUT ONLY IN THE LORD DEATH DOES NOT FREE AN ADULTERER ONLY REPENTANCE AND SEPARATION FROM THE SECOND HUSBAND DOES PERIOD

For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband. Jesus said EXCEPT because of fornication (incl. adultery but all a word porneia whoredom that includes all kinds of stuff you might find out about his or her past later).your husband committed adultery against you, YOU ARE FREE. but be careful. watch out for t he typical fraud who will bait and switch you and not treat you the same after marriage as before. (I think marriage by fraud could fall under the heading of whoredom by that bait and switch player also. )

infowolf1 Paul says if you divorce do not get married but remain single or reconcile. Period. Jesus said if you marry another while your spouse is alive you commit adultry. The deciples asked him why then did Moses allow for divorce. Jesus said because of hardness of hearts. But it was not so from the beginning. Meaning it never was so. Also God lays out the definition of marriage in Genesis. Together until death. A covenant until death. Death separates not divorce. Let NO man put asunder. ( My caps for emphasis). Now when Jesus said except for adultry there are two adultrys in that sentence. The one in Greek means pornia which relates to before actual marriage...like during engagement. Because the Jewish people take the engagement very serious unlike nowadays here in America. Recall Joesph was going to quietly put Mary away...when he thought she had cheated during the engagement. Because if you cheated during engagement or after marriage you were stoned. Put to death. Recall the story about the woman caught in adultry. They were going to stone her. But Jesus said you with no sin cast the first stone. Pornia before marriage adultry after marriage. So the one adultry in that sentence would mean during the engagement and the one adultry means what it says If you divorce and marry another you commit adultry. In other areas of the gospel you find Jesus saying if you divorce and remarry you commit adultry. The except in the case of adultry is left out. It is not there. And then Paul spells it out quite clear. And also if a person has a covenant to live as ONE and are no longer two but one. Its until death. Now Jesus said to forgive 70 x 7 in one day. Everyday. How would he command to forgive that many times in a day and be ok with you not forgiving your very own spouse? If your forgiving your not going to divorce and marry another. Thats the same as unforgivness. But now if someone must get away it says let the unbeliever go but remain single. The commandment is to remain single unless you can reconcile. How would that be done if the other married another. How would the 2nd marriage be ok if Jesus says it is adultry. Of course its not ok since it is adultry. Theres excellant videos that explain better than I can. But for me its simple. I made a forever promise until death do we part. I don't love myself more than Gods law and I want God to be pleased out of my love for him. He never ever breaks covenant unless someone has rejected his offer of salvation and they had died in their sin. As long as they live he hangs on for the covenants sake. After death...too late to choose. They are in eternity at that point. Up until death they can repent and be forgiven as they forgive others. After death...its over. They already decided while they lived which path they chose. There is definate correlation in the marriage covenant. Since naturally marriage ends at the death of the husband or wife.

not "period" Paul said more. I Cor. 7:1, 2 it is good that a man not touch a woman but TO AVOID FORNICATION (porneia) let EVERY man have his own wife and EVERY woman have her own husband. do you know what a counsel of perfection is? something that is an idea but not always accomplishable. JEsus didn't rescind the Mosaic alloance, just warned you couldn't use it if the other party hadn't cheated or done something in the category of whoredom (porneia) and count yourself perfectly pure.remember after Jesus gave this teaching, the disciples said it was better if this is so to not marry? JEsus said that NOT EVERYONE CAN RECEIVE THIS TEACHING. Some were born eunuichs, some made eunuchs by men some became eunuchs for the Kingdom of Heaven's sake. but not everyone can contain and if they can't contain better to marry than to burn. St. Basil the Great said he'd rather see a man married four times (prohibited) than fornicating the issue is not so much do you commit adultery or not? the issue is, is this a tolerated degree of adultery, greatly discouraged but not damning? the answer seems to be the latter when you look at ALL Scripture on the issue not just the most extreme position. the early church position seems to have run to an extreme, at least the writers like Tertullian and others who even denounced second marriages in widowhood.

Thanks for your video. One thing I've discovered in reading the many comments and also debating with those who comment on many different sites is there is a hang up when understanding God's Word. You will see verses taken out of context right and left and misapplied. From my experience, only about 5% or even less of believers (I'm being too generous) even know how to study the Bible correctly. So I see a deeper problem than just the discussion about marriage, divorce and remarriage. There is an appalling ignorance in the church on how to even discern God's Word. I think this is for three reasons:
    1. Believers only regurgitate what they hear from a pastor/teacher/family member. They don't realize that all men and women are fallible (only Jesus wasn't). So they stake their lives on that one person getting it right, that he never misses a beat, that his opinions are always correct, etc. Whether or not they say it, they see their pastor as infallible when it comes to his teachings and stance.
    2. Also they've been pre-programmed to take passages and verses out of context. They hear it from the pulpit all the time, so they think it's the right way to understand the Scriptures. And so they employee the same methods when discussing the marriage issue or any other heated issue. This is all they know and this is how they've been programmed.
    3. Also, they are not challenged to be independent thinkers when it comes to the Word. You don't think for yourself, you just accept the status quo. This is why we have so many churches and even so many cults. Yet, the New Testament praises those who are independent thinkers and who throughly examine even the most esteemed teacher (even an Apostle...Paul as one example in the New Testament). Part of this is a matter of control. If their supreme leader says that they shouldn't research for themselves but only believe what they teach and how they see it, they remain control and a hold of their congregations.
So many times I have had to take a believer to task for using a verse from the Bible wrongly. They just spout it out without thinking, not even caring about the context (to them the context is immaterial). They don't understand that these books (letters) were written as complete documents.

    • @dh605x

Thank you Martin. Context is very material when considering the words of Jesus, Paul or any other authority in Scripture. It is not reasonable to hold that any of their words were intended to be read as some kind of universal blanket prohibition of divorce or remarriage after divorce. And it is irresponsible to assert that you are somehow banned from being married simply because you were once divorced, especially if the grounds for that divorce were fair and reasonable.

At 2:15 mins "it is a new doctrine" David said, yet the early church writings called the Ante Nicene Fathers, taught remarriage while first spouse lives, is ALWAYS adultery.
2000 years later, in recent centuries remarriage has become ok... so in David's relatively short 38 year period, it is not hard to see why he thinks this is a NEW doctrine as opposed to a resurrection of truth.
Why did none of the early church in 100s to 300 AD not quote or refer to our modern Bible's Matthew 19:9? Seems apparent that their's read just like Matt 5:32. We don't see any greek manuscripts for that rendering until 4th century AD and not become dominant until a century or so later. The earliest few centuries for Greek manuscripts of Matthew 19:9 read like Matthew 5:32.

Have you ever tried understanding Moses, Jesus and Paul in a congruous manner? It could help you differentiate between biblical facts from false suppositions imposed on scripture. For instance, do you realize Jesus didn't prohibit remarriage? Do you realize that Jesus nor any one else in scripture taught "indissoluble marriage." Do you even realize that is a false supposition imposed into scripture? What would happen to your view of this issue if you started with Moses' teachings first, from those facts you then interpreted Jesus teaching, and then from those facts you interpreted Paul, a chronological or historical unfolding of this issue. You might realize that those from which your view is derived start from presuppositions that alter what the bible actually teaches.

    • @nealdoster8556

Your position falsely presumes that “John the Baptist loss his head because Herod was remarried.” Your view makes John’s rebuke to Herod about remarriage in general. This again demonstrates that your view doesn’t know Old Testament history. It proves you presume a lot on scripture. John’s rebuke of Herod was actually for breaking an Old Testament law.
Leviticus 18:6 None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the Lord.
John rebuked Herod because of a relationship that broke Old Testament (near kin) Law. Leviticus 18:16 & 20:21 forbid a man to be sexually involved with his brother’s wife. John’s rebuke of Herod was not because of remarriage in general, but because it violated near kin law specifically, and that’s why it was unlawful. Brother in the text (to which you allude) is literally speaking of Herod’s brother Philip, thus it was not lawful for Herod to have Herodias. Remarriage in general was not forbidden by the law, nor was it the reason John rebuked Herod.
Again your position is build on false suppositions masquerading as Truth. Half truths are deceptive.

"Whosoever shall divorce his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall divorce her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery" (Mark 10:11, 12). Pretty clear. Dean Michael Gorman, professor of New Testament and Early Christianity has concluded that: "In the early church, many voices addressed the subjects of marriage, divorce, and remarriage, but their message, on the whole, was quite unified. Christian marriage, they said, is an indissoluble bond.
Divorce, with the implicit right of remarriage, was not an option for Christian couples (though Origen admits some toleration existed), but permanent separation was. Remarriage after separation was considered punishable adultery or bigamy-sometimes more so for women than men. "

WOW!! I am amazed at how many people actually believe God wants you to divorce your current spouse and go back to your first spouse! Even to the point of breaking up families, and leaving children with broken homes. Unbelievable.
I haven't read every single comment, but I certainly hope that SOMEONE has bothered to study 1 Corinthians 7; in particular verses 27-28:
"Art thou bound unto a wife? Seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? Seek not a wife. But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned..."
Now, I looked up the words they used for 'loosed' just to make sure I was reading what I thought I was reading:
**'lusis' means 'a loosing, divorce, dissolution, release'
**'luo' means 'to loose, to release, to dissolve, untie, destroy, annul'
So perhaps you might understand it better if it was written like this:
"Art thou married? Seek not to be divorced. Art thou divorced? Seek not to be married. But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned..."
Do you see it now? Satan seems to be doing a bang-up job getting people to leave their spouses. And there's no shortage of people jumping on board; probably because marriage is difficult, and we have all thought one time or another about leaving our spouses. Don't fall for this, brothers and sisters. Study the word for yourselves.

What I found takes me back to the scriptures that refer to seeking and finding, well I sought out the answer and God responded. without going into much detail, according the Moses, who's words were indeed inspired by God states in Deu 24:1,2 I believe, but check it. Deut. 22 28-29 clearly states that anyone who takes a virgin must make them their spouse for life. Lets move on in real life two high school kids made a big mistake one night but did not marry. Years later they meet someone else and officially marry for the first time have children and make a good life for their family. If we are to follow the much used Bible math would they not have to leave their current spouse and return to their first one flesh partner? Lets see one flesh relationship with virgin + marriage = adultery. Guess they have to get out of their current first marriage and return to their one night mistake no exception no forgiveness just Bible math. To those that have taken the hard line on this issue first of all are you innocent? This gets really complicated when the sacrifice Jesus made for all of us is taken out of the picture for we all fall short even those that have only been married once.

I came from a very abusive home my parents were very violent and I've been locked in basements, outside in the winter and was beaten and starved. He hurt me more than my childhood ever did.
My husband only physically HURT me twice. But his unfaithfulness and his emotion abuse destroyed my heart. One example we had a cookout with my sister and his parents my sister and him got drunk ( I never drank) she was on his lap and they were talking sexually to each other. In front of everyone.
I have not even dated these 10 years, I will never allow him back into my life. I'm not bitter, I don't hate him. He told me he recently started going back to church I HOPE HE GETS SAV3D, I HOPE HE REPENTS, I HOPE HE STARTS BEING A DAD TO HIS CHILDREN. I pray for him but I dont ever want him back. Its sad you can push a person so far that they beg God NOT TO EVER REQUIRE RECONCILIATION. I'd rather be alone and live alone. I have no ill feelings and I have forgiven him. But the damage he caused by his sin is not healed. Sometimes we damage people and it never will truly be ok.
I can't submit to a man that is not only CAPABLE of these things. Even if he repents, I can't tryst he will not go back to his old ways.

"and such were some of you..." God forgives and restores completely. He not only takes the stain of sin, He removes the name of sin (adultery). Jesus was contrasting the abuse of divorce by the Pharisees.... Adultery by imagination has been commited by us all at some point. So... every person marries an adulterer. God hates divorce. Everyone who has been divorced hates divorce. Let's not become accusers of the brethren. Adultery is not the unforgivable sin. Paul says, let EACH man have his own wife.... let EACH woman have her own husband. The early church as well as more than half of the prominent theologians believe that Paul was divorced and he stated that he had the right to take a believing wife. Look at King David and Bathsheba..... adultery and murder....yet she became the Proverbs 31 woman. After sinning, being disciplined by God, reaping the bitter pill of sin...... God forgave and made the marriage into a good thing. He will do the same for others today.

Your Ad Hominem attacks are no substitute for a cogent argument. The ECF teaching on no remarriage agrees with the clear teaching of Jesus and Paul, i.e., remarriage is adultery. The teachings of Jesus are clear and unambiguous-"Whosoever shall divorce his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall divorce her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery" (Mark 10:11, 12). Up until 50 years ago for a Christian to divorce and remarry was considered the sin of living in a continual state of adultery. 2000 years of Church History!

    • @mensajesparaelremanente9680
      @mensajesparaelremanente9680 6 років тому +4

If you want to become a follower of Jesus you must follow His clear teachings concerning remarriage. The Truth will set you free! Matthew records Jesus as saying, "Whosoever shall divorce his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery" (Matthew 5:32). And again, "Whosoever shall divorce his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery" (Matthew 19:9). Mark and Luke :
"Whosoever shall divorce his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall divorce her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery" (Mark 10:11, 12).
"Whosoever divorces his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is divorced from her husband committeth adultery" (Luke 16:18).
Notice that in Mark the prohibition against divorce and remarriage is given to the woman as well as to the man.
Paul forbade departing from a marriage partner, forbade remarriage, and encouraged reconciliation if separation did occur.
      What is significant about this point is that this writing may well have been the earliest New Testament writing on the subject. The date for the earliest Gospels (Matthew and Mark) is commonly set in the middle or late 50s (or early 60s);
Paul wrote I Corinthians around 55 A.D. But whether Paul was the first to record Jesus' teaching on marriage or second or third, he obviously knew Jesus' teaching well.
"And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife leave her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband divorce is wife”
      (I Corinthians 7:10, 11).
In verse 11 he implies that separation may at times occur. Some feel this refers to the exception Jesus gave. In any case, Paul is clear that if there is separation, there is to be no remarriage while one's partner is living, but reconciliation if possible.
Paul records the same understanding that death and death only severs the marriage bond. Any other relationship during this marriage is adultery.
"The woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man" (Romans 7:2, 3).
I ask only that you please search out this matter to see if perhaps this viewpoint could be correct. If I've been wrong in my assertions, no real harm will be done. On the other hand if what I have concluded is the Historic Biblical view for 2000 years of Church History unquestioned till the 16th Century is correct many people are deceived and will suffer the torments of hell as a result of believing false teaching, and false grace.
Remember that the Pharisee’s were the party of divorce/remarriage
      see www.marriagedivorce.com
And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter. And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall divorce his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall divorce her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery (Mark 10: 10-12).
Why is this issue so important? If people's Eternal destinies are linked to the legitimacy/illegitimacy of Divorce/Remarriage in the Church,, an issue 100 years ago that would not need to addressed. Can we sit idly by when our friends and loved ones are duped into believing that they can be in a remarriage and make into the Kingdom of Heaven, contrary to what the Lord Jesus the Early Church Fathers taught?
I argue from what I believe is a biblical as well as the historical view that the Church has held for 2,000 years of its' history. Below I cite ample evidence from the Early Church Fathers as well as Biblical Scholars in addition to the Word of God itself. Watch Bible teacher David Pawson tackle this issue: ua-cam.com/video/Noqlkx4mUFQ/v-deo.html

You have to remember that Yeshua was Torah observant and thought the Father "hates divorce" He gave them specific ways to put away a spouse as long as they gave that spouse a legitimate bill of divorcement. It was a combination of those two parts of the marriage contract. Also most marriages are not "joined together by God." Returning to your first spouse is an abomination. To find moral law, you have to go back to the law.

I don't know about them but, I'm now a believer. I desperately want to be married...to a fellow believer. According to scripture though, I'd have to wait till both of my ex husbands are dead. That's not gonna happen. I'm not secretly wishing harm on either man. I've resigned myself to a life of celibacy. We're all in our mid-fifties. Were I to manage to outlive the two of them, by that time, I'll probably no longer be interested in marriage. For now I'm seeking after the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness. That's enough to keep me occupied till the Lord's return, which I believe is imminent. Upon His return, once I'm transformed into my new glorified body, an earthly marriage won't even register in my mind. It's all gravy.

The problem is that divorced people keep looking for a pastor or preacher that says what they want to hear instead of read the Bible to find out what God wants for us, it’s all there but we want to hear what make us happy, we want someone to say “go ahead do what you want God will forgive you even if what you doing is wrong” . Wake up people, seek your answers in God and not in faulty people and false prophets

This is not a minor issue, it is major. Churches cannot talk about the sanctity of marriage when it hasn't existed in the church for decades. Also, think of the heartbroken children of this family. They watch their divorced parent(s) attend church singles groups to mingled with one another and then remarry. They're teaching the children to sin. And what a witness to the world!

Why must we sugar coat the Bible to suit our needs when Jesus said it clearly that Divorce and re-marriage is sin. We need to be careful of deceitful teachings beacuse the Bible warns us that in end-times that they will be those who will appear as noble and wise but the aim is to deceive many. When ever Jesus or God's word is challenged, the devil is behind the lie. Genesis 3:1 says this perfectly "Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. Jesus mention such as the ones whose foundation are built on a rock-Matthew 7:24-27 because they hear the word and they DO it. I can assure you that no righteous act goes unnoticed to God. He will reward you someday if you don't give up. Pray for your spouse because the word says that we should pray for those who persecute us. Nothing is impossible with God and restoration is possible even things look so dark and hopeless. I stand in faith with you that your marriage will be restored and it be 2 or 10x better. Job in the Bible lost almost everything he had and on top of that got sick but was restored everything and it was way better than before because he remained faithful to God even when it was extremely hard.

      name family ,
In Matthew 5 verse 32 Jesus says this : " But I tell you whoever divorces his wife , except for unfaithfulness, exposes her to adultery , and he who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. "
To understand better what Jesus wants to tell us in that verse , let's move "except for unfaithfulness" to the end of the verse ; the verse is still the same and easier to understand.
" But I tell you whoever divorces his wife exposes her to adultery , and he who marries a divorced woman commits adultery , except for unfaithfulness ".
Jesus permits a man to divorce his wife only for unfaithfulness , because for that reason he doesn't exposes her to adultery , and therefore if an other man marries that divorced woman he doesn't commit adultery. But when a man divorces his wife for any reason that's not unfaithfulness he exposes her to adultery , and he who marries that divorced woman commits adultery ; why ? because for Jesus that man and that woman are still married .
If God authorizes divorce for only unfaithfulness its because for him there's really divorce , there's really separation . For unfaithfulness it's God who separates what he had joined , not man .
However , a divorce whose cause is not unfaithfulness is not a divorce for God ; for God the two persons are still married even if they are separated , even if they don't live together anymore ; that's why those two persons are exposed to commit adultery , they will commit adultery if they marry other persons again .
      I hope I help .
      Blessings !

There are no documents whatsoever in the first 1500 years of Christianity that permitted remarriage.. The simple reading of the Bible verses concerning remarriage cannot be understood any other way than that Jesus plainly indicated no divorce/no remarriage. The early Christians all spoke, and if they could read, Koine Greek. They did not need to go to a Greek lexicon in order to figure out what a word or phrase meant. That was their spoken language. They understood Jesus plainly taught no divorce/no remarriage.
Although there were many points of difference theologically in the 1st 1500 years of Christianity, all Christians agreed that marriage was permanent-divorce and remarriage forbidden.
How was it that ever since the humanist Erasmus (Henry VIII influenced by him), in the 16th century, who opened the door to the possibility of divorce, although that view was a minuscule consideration that no churches embraced until the 20th century. In the later half of the 20th century divorce became easier.
The Internet is filled with websites that will confirm a person’s desire to remain in an adulterous marriage, what Jesus would call an adulterous marriage, with many proof texts from the Bible.
Unfortunately, church history is not on their side. These are novel, that is, new, interpretations of the word of God has clearly stated and what 2000 years of church history has believed. Marriage, whether before conversion or after, is indissoluble until the death of one of the partners.
The view I hold was the majority view for 2000 years-now a scant 6% of pastors preach what I preach.
If I were to preach the prevailing doctrine concerning divorce remarriage I would have nothing to lose.
However, if a pastor were to preach what I preach, which I’m convinced based on the historical; and plain meaning of the Bible passages that I gave you, and the way that for 2000 years Christians have interpreted it, that that pastor would find himself with the very, very small congregation.
If a pastor of a large mega-church began to preach the historical doctrine concerning the permanency of marriage held for 2000 years of its history , his church would end up being a handful of people with a very large mortgage to pay-guaranteed!
Jesus said the way was narrow that leads to eternal life and FEW there be that find it.
    What does that mean?
People who want to find information that would support their opinion that sodomite marriage is not a sin, or that the sodomite lifestyle is not an abomination, can find many websites of “pastors” and theologians with lots of degrees following their names that can give them Bible verses, proof text, etc. to confirm their belief that the sodomite lifestyle is accepted by the Lord Jesus Christ.
There is a great falling away.
According to recent polls, Evangelical Millennials consider the sodomite lifestyle to not be a sin, and that the “old fogeys” in the church just don’t have the “understanding” they do.
They believe, as does the Emergent Church, that we should change and adapt to the culture we live in, and seek to have newer and fresher understanding and interpretation of what they consider bigoted Bible texts that old folks cling to.
The Baby Boomers likewise embraced remarriage in the same way. While the baby boomers started getting divorced in the 1960s, and those were primarily nonbelievers, as my parents were the only divorced couple in our church when they got divorced in the early 1960s when I was 4 years old.
Divorce was never heard of in our culture except in the rare occasion of movie stars, as divorce was a very expensive expenditure. Unbelievers were divorced who could afford it. Most people could not afford a divorce. California opened up the door for “no-fault “divorces. The divorce rate skyrocketed in the 80s with the advent of no-fault divorces.
The church was silent during this period. In my estimation, it was the love of money, not the love for truth, that kept pastors silent.
The fear of loss of members and money is a pretty powerful motivation to keep quiet about issues that are controversial, as divorce became prevalent. I am a pastor, I know!
Pastors did not want to lose the money nor the members by preaching against divorce. There was no council like there was in Jerusalem (Acts 15) to discuss the issue in the 80s in the light of the historical teaching of the permanency of marriage and remarriage being forbidden.
Even today, when was the last time you heard a sermon in church about covetousness being idolatry, and the Bible states that no idolater will make it into the kingdom of heaven, as Paul the apostle taught?
Modern pastors, especially mega-pastors, do not preach against sin and sins that will cause their congregants to find themselves outside the kingdom of God and the outer darkness as Jesus warned about.
Jesus, in the beginning of the book of Revelation:
Revelation of John 3:5: He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Modern christians have their proof texts and all whole slew of “Bible scholars” that prove their point that the sodomite lifestyle is permissible, and even blessed by God. They would just consider you an old guy that’s behind the times and not having a true understanding of the new Bible interpretations that permit sodomite marriage.
Ken Wilson, a vineyard pastor, from Ann Arbor Michigan, has written a book where he now teaches that the Lord Jesus Christ accepts sodomites and sodomite marriage.
We are in the last days, people are being deceived and deceiving. These people will not make it into the kingdom of heaven. This is the great apostasy the Bible warned about.
The divorce/remarriage issue is no different.
2000 years of church history forbade this, now the modern church of the West has come to a different conclusion than what the early church taught, and their understanding that Jesus did not make the rules “easier” in the sermon on the Mount but presented a call from discipleship which was based on on obedience to his teachings.
Even the 70, when they learned the hard teachings of Jesus, the Bible says, walked no more with him. Jesus turned to the 12 disciples and asked if they were interested in leaving also. The apostle Peter replied, “where else would we go, Lord, only you have the words of eternal life.”
35 years ago I visited this issue with my friends, and without studying, I told them since they were new creations in Christ, and old things passed away, therefore their marriage/divorce didn’t matter, since now they were saved. Number 1, I was not a the pastor at the time, I was a 22-year-old kid with an opinion that was not rooted in what the Bible taught, an opinion derived from my own limited reasoning.
If marriage is not valid before conversion, then anything and everything Jesus said about “adultery” would make no sense since no one was actually married. If marriage is only legitimate when performed in a church, as a Christian, then everybody that is not born again are not really married. It would be impossible to commit adultery since they’re not really married in God’s eyes.
According to the Bible marriage is ordained by God. Genesis. Believers and unbelievers can be married. A conversion experience does not delegitimize nor nullify any former contracts, covenants, agreements, or relationships.
A divorced father cannot refuse to pay child support to his children based on his recent conversion, by saying that he is a, “new creation in Christ-old things are passed away” therefore with that type of logic he would no longer be responsible for his children.
He would declare that he is not the same person as he was before his conversion therefore he is not obligated to pay child support-using that kind of logic.
A newly converted Christian cannot e-mail his mortgage company and declared that since he is a “new creation in Christ-old things have passed away”, the person he was before has died and therefore is not obligated to pay his mortgage-he is convinced that the “old man” was buried in baptism, and that included the “old man’s” mortgage.
Jesus in Matthew 24 warned that it was possible for Christians to be deceived. He warned of a falling away. Paul also said that the Antichrist would not the revealed on till there was a “Great Falling Away” of Christians from the faith.
In Matthew chapter 7, Jesus addresses people who are convinced that their successful ministries are proof of their relationship with the Lord Jesus, and so much that they declare “Lord, Lord”. These are not men who were unbelievers, these were people who were obviously in some type of ministry, of which Jesus does not negate their statements of demons cast out, prophecies made, and miracles done. Jesus doesn’t say that the miracles were illegitimate. The prophet Balaam prophesied true things, because he himself was false that did not disqualify what he prophesied that was true.
A successful ministry, according to Jesus, is no guarantee of one’s salvation. That is a very daunting and frightening thing. One can do many mighty miracles, lead many people to Jesus, all of which are legitimate miracles and legitimate salvation-just as Judas did miracles when he was sent out with the other disciples to preach.
Judas was a legitimate disciple-even his being a disciple of the Lord Jesus was not a guarantee of his salvation-and we know that Judas went to hell.
Matthew 7:21: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 7:22: On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty work

Earthly marriage is a reflection of Christ relationship with the Church (His bride). The same way He would never leave her, husbands should never put away their spouse. Comparing OT with NT, and in original Hebrew and Greek translations. As certain words are translated and changed as they are put into English, there meaning can change as well. Well, doesn’t the Bible give “allowances” for divorce in the cases of infidelity and abandonment by a non-believer?
If your spouses commits adultery you have biblical grounds for divorce. But, it should be looked at as also have biblical grounds to forgive depending on the situation.
In the case of abandonment, it says that if you are abandoned by a non-believer then you are free to remarry in the Lord. But if the non-believer is content to be with you, then you aren’t permitted to divorce them just because they aren’t Christian.
This also, by logic, applies to people who call themselves Christian. If your “Christian” spouse leaves you for another, God doesn’t expect you to just stay and wait. The quotation marks are because no Jesus believing Christian should abandon their spouses. Or to use the legal term “irreconcilable differences”.
I saw something about abuse, which would fall under abandonment. They have abandoned their spiritual and Godly duty to love and cherish you as their spouse. If your spouse beats on you, they have not only abandoned you, but God.
There are biblical allowance for divorce. However, I think, especially in the Western world, we divorce A LOT for reason not permissible by the Bible. Because for many problems we only need to look at what the Bible says about marriage: submit unto one another, husbands love your wives as Christ loves the church, wives honor your husbands as the church honors Christ, etc.
So while divorce is permissible, forgiveness and grace to those who trespass against you is more beneficial to the Christian.
Also, someone already mentioned it, but we all sin. If you’ve divorced before, repent from that. Repentance from divorce isn’t another divorce. That would be like saying, repentance for murder is another murder. Repentance is to not get another divorce. You’ve already sinned, there’s no take-backs. Ask for forgiveness and do better next time around.

There are many reasons why there is so much bad doctrine regarding divorce and remarriage. Part of it is the Argument from Silence. The assumption is that the only valid grounds for divorce are those explicitly named in the New Testament. So sexual immorality is a "permissible" ground for divorce, but domestic violence is not? That makes no sense to me.
Another reason : some church elders make an idol out of the marital institution. Does God value the institution of marriage more than people? Those who claim He does are engaging in blasphemy.

Jesus makes it clear that adultery occurs in remarriage. This is stated clearly in the following passages:
    "whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery." (Matt. 5:32);
    "whoso marrieth her which is divorced doth commit adultery" (Matt. 19:9);
    "Whosoever shall divorce his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery." (Mark. 10:11,12);
    "Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery." (Lk. 16:18);
"So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man." (Rom. 7:3)

Remarriage for any reason except death, is adultery per 1 Corinthians 7:39, Rom. 7:1-3. Divorce is only allowed because of sexual immorality, but not remarriage. The exception clause of Matt. 19:9 is only stated in response to the question of divorce, not remarriage. Luke 16:18 and Mark 10:11-12 also support this idea of remarriage being adultery.
The whole of scripture supports this. Jesus answered the Pharisees accordingly to Moses’ law, but to the disciples who would go into all the world and preach the gospel, He gave no exception clause. Paul gave no exception clause as well. Remarriage is purely self seeking because one does not want to reconcile with their spouse who is living. 1 Corinthians 7:10-11 is our guide for remarriage.

    @markeveringham4673 5 років тому +3

There are 3 entries to this, go to the bottom of these 3, this is the last one go down 2 more .
    ADULTERY
The question rarely looked at in Matt 5;32 ..is if the wife is divorced, and
being divorced is legally separated from Her marriage, why is both the woman
and man in their new marriage, both in adultery if divorce dissolves the
    original marriage?.
The Lord was being very clear about this, not for His benefit but for ours.
If we do not repent and have to give an account for it ("Sin") as stated by
The Lord in Matthew 12 ;36-37,..... do you really believe that adultery will be
overlooked on judgment day, given that the bible clearly states that
"Adulterers will have their part in the lake of fire ".
But if You look carefully, that if a man divorces his
wife and she remarries, she is in adultery, and the man who marries her becomes
an adulterer also. You can see Gods view of marriage as stated earlier is.....
“Let no man separate” ask yourself this question - why do we publicly state on
our wedding day without exception, “for better or worse” and “till death do us
part”?.(A binding life long covenant that used to be taught and upheld by the church and state)
No one ever has exceptions ,in their wedding vows, but its actually the opposite,...... For better or worse, "Till death do us part", the principals of the vows come from Jesus, An exception would be a contadiction to the vows themself.
In support of this principal, Paul in Romans 7;2-3 and 1 Corinthians 7;39
states a woman must stay married to her husband as long as he is alive, But
if her husband dies, she is made free from the "LAW OF MARRIAGE", and is able
to remarry. You see " the law of marriage" didn't start at the time of the Mosaic Law.
The Law of marriage started "in the beginning".
To show in The Lord there are no gender differences, Mark 10;10 reveals...
"Later, when the followers and Jesus were in the house, they asked him again
about the question of divorce. He said, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries
another woman has sinned against his wife. He is guilty of adultery. And the
woman who divorces her husband and marries another man is also guilty of
    adultery". Also read Luke 16;18
    CLOSING WORDS
In these last days we are being let down by our "Leaders" ( Both Christian and
Secular). The Lord stated "In the last days there will be false teachers"... Paul stated in 2 Timothy 4;3-4 "The time will come when people will not
listen to sound teaching. But people will find more and more teachers who please
them. They will find teachers who say what they want to hear. People will stop
listening to the truth".The greatest example of what happens when one makes a covenant and breaks it,
is clearly seen between Israel and God.
Israel's history has shown,.... covenant breaking brings about judgment, pain, and
ultimately separation from God.Paul states in 1 Thessalonians 5;19-24 "Don’t stop the work of the Holy Spirit.
Don’t treat prophecy like something that is not important. BUT TEST EVERTHING.
Keep what is good, and stay away from everything that is evil". We pray that God
himself, the God of peace, will make you pure-belonging only to him. We pray
that your whole spirit, soul, and body-will be kept safe and be "BLAMELESS"
when our Lord Jesus Christ comes. The one who chose you will do that for you.
You can trust him.....""If we"" , AS STATED "stay away from everything that is evil"
To Repent means to stop doing what You know is wrong and start doing the right.
Sometimes correcting sin comes at great cost. Do not trust Me or anybody else
on such important issues, pray and read the scriptures seek the Word of God (Jesus)
earnestly for the answers, if this affects You.Our God is a great God of Love and Mercy and wants to help you please Him.
Remember Jesus said " Many are Called but Few are chosen" Paul said in
2 Corinthians 2;-15 "We are being Saved" We havent finished the race Yet,
We are in the engagement period of our soon to be marriage to the "Groom" Jesus.....
Jesus said...... " Those that ENDURE to the end will be saved".
Read Ezra 10;1-4 these Jews recognized the wrong and corrected it.Also read Malachi 2;14 You ask, “Why are our gifts not accepted?” It is because the Lord saw the evil things you did-he is a witness against you. He saw you cheat on your wife. You have been married to her since you were young. She was your girlfriend. Then you made your vows to each other-and she became your wife. 15 God wants husbands and wives to become one body and one spirit. Why? So that they would have holy children and protect that spiritual unity. Don’t cheat on your wife. She has been your wife from the time you were young.
16 The Lord, the God of Israel, says, “I hate divorce, and I hate the cruel things that men do. So protect your spiritual unity. Don’t cheat on your wife.”
17 You have taught wrong things, and it makes the Lord very sad. People were doing evil things, but you said that this pleased the Lord and that he accepted those things. And you taught that God does not punish people for the evil they do.
If we think we can neglect what God breathed scripture tells us and get away with it we will be sadly mistaken.
Above ALL seek God's will for Your life not man's..... Seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit , and Get baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
Remember most of Gods truth is in the Scriptures. But we need the Spirits guidance.
Also the point of scripture, is not to read and feel good because we read it, but with the sprits guidance to do it.God Bless You.

Are you putting forward that if a drunk came to repentance and salvation,... and continued to be a drunk that he is still going to get to the kingdom of God, although he is still in his sin (Unrepentant)?

Romans 7;2 "For the woman which hath an husband is BOUND by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be DEAD, she is LOOSED from the law of her husband.
3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an ADULTERESS: but if her husband be dead, she is FREE from that law; so that she is NO adulteress, though she be married to ANOTHER man." (The same principal applies to men as seen in Mark and Luke)
We can all make arguments for whatever reason to support our own views , but the scriptures clearly reveal the truth, if we would be honest with ourselves we would recognize that the old testament if full of the dead bodies of disobedient people who were both Gods chosen people and not, but the one thing they had in common was the lack of repentance to a merciful God who would of accepted their cries, as the Lord did with David.
The New testament is full of warnings about what will happen if we don't repent and "Walk in the light , as He is in the light because it is when we do that (Walk in the light) , that " we have fellowship with one another" ...and.... "The Blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness"
"It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God".... "God is no mocked , for as a man sows so shall he also reap.

He married many times- God got a hold of him- But- as for divorce- sometimes to keep living U have to exit a marriage. I forgave him. But not until years later- I had to work a lot out of my mind with God's help- If people knew Gods word it is doubtful they would remarry- But i believe by Gods grace I was forgiven for ALL my sins- I brought each and every one of them to HIM, verbally, with much sorrow, Sooooo........I see stuff on this page and see some unmerciful people who forget that God's mercy extended to them and they should extend that mercy to others - Or maybe God will stop being merciful to them. God is compassion, mercy, His grace, His Love, Yes I know what Jesus said, and i also know the old covenant does not stand, and i know Jesus will go after every lost sheep- Now back to what you wrote- she divorced him (for what) she remarried twice (but even if she commits adultery its ok if she goes back to him, Hmmm, does this cause her husband commit adultery now? So If I asked my husband who was a adultrey commiting fool to divorce me - after i filed twice- who is the adulterer? Neither of us went to church- we knew nothing of God- The God I serve forgave me of everything - He is a merciful God - There is ONLY one unforgivable sin in the bible. ONE. If that man in that video has asked and repented and turned away from all his past sins- if he is a new creature in christ jesus - then he is- a personal relationship with christ- So many pharrisses on these comments- People dont tear up their homes, their children and separate them when they get saved- when they have a sorrowfull contrite heart- they try to go forward as a new creation - not dig into past sins to try to FIX it- Jesus died for all SINS - He said, It's finished.

Sad how those who find themselves living in sin doesn't love God as much as family. Luke 14 should be followed.

Matthew 19:9 is clear as day: And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.”
Sexual immorality on the part of your spouse is the exception.

Ya’ll who think the Bible is clear on this don’t understand the language it was written in. Look up the video, “Divorce, Remarriage and Putting Away,” for a forensic dissection of the original language and culture this command was given in. English doesn’t carry the colloquial understanding of the “putting away” cultural norm of Jewish tradition.
