As a fan I bought your huge Black Friday Deal last year. What about the new content in comparison to last year? Some of your packs this year I already know by name.
@@wallystellmacher6794 If you get the platinum Bundle you still get a really good deal, because it includes everything from this year and my new online courses - which are 70$ each regular :)
Wonderful again... I'm becoming an addict ;-) You are a born teacher... so clear. What I like best with you is when you say “Don't do this, if you do, this is what's going to happen“... how many time have I done wrong moves without having a clue of what I was doing wrong... and them I'm lost ! You are a blessing in my learning efforts ! Thank you.
Many thanks Olivio, you promised to make a video on this topic in answer to an earlier question of mine, and you delivered. Very helpful and informative video. Saved as a reference.
I just purchased your platinum pack and affinity thanks to this video. It was a great explanation for a beginner with no experience in affinity or photoshop. Please provide more video for beginners. I love your channel.
OLIVIO, WE LOVE YOU!!! You've solved a little huge problem I spent HOURS searching on other tutorials in SECONDS!! Thank you so so much, Olivio lover forever!!!!! I truly appreciate, thanks fot your awesome work 🙏
Excellent tutorial about one of Affinity Photo's most confusing features. For me, the most annoying thing about image layers is you can't copy any part of it without rasterizing it, even though copying is non-destructive. If you make a selection of part of an image and then try to copy it, you end up copying the whole image, not just the selected region. At that point, you can rasterize the copied layer and then Affinity Photo will give you the selected area you wanted.
Great material Olivio. But You could also mention that: - linking/ embedding also works with JPG/PNG etc. pictures, not only AP/AD files. - with Resource Manager You can change between linked and embedded files. - it's also possible to replace linked/embedded file with Resource Manager. - changing placement type and replacing files is very useful when You prepare mockups. - embedding pictures (JPG, PNG, etc.) in AP file prevent them from loosing (for example by accidentally deleting from disk or moving to another directory). - it's also easier to take Your project "away". - and on the end You can collect (save) all embedded files in choosed location on disk.
Thank you, but embedded files really was just a side note in this video. The main topic is image VS pixel layer. I will do a video about embedded vs linked another time
Great lesson as always! Thank you. (I lived in Vienna once for 2.5 years. The picture of Karlskirche brought back fond memories. When I lived there the people I knew considered it "kitsch". Is that still true? Thanks also for the memory.)
Why are you guys commenting on his pronunciation? He's not English, nor is he American, so he's not expected to pronounce words the way those two groups would (even within those two groups there are dozens of phonetic variations). As long as you understood what he's trying to convey, and it's easy enough to understand if you're not hung up on the accent, how does it matter? The world is full of differences, and we can't really have everybody homogenizing into one or two particular phenotypes.
I'm confused about one thing. You said you can't paint on an image, but then you painted on an image layer (it became a pixel layer) I see two possibilities: 1. Image layer is now gone, replaced by a pixel layer 2. Image layer still exists, but also there is now a pixel layer too. Which of these two is it? I understand the raster part, but what an image layer is, is still rather unclear (meaning, under what circumstances would I prefer an image layer to a rasterized / pixel layer? Is there an analog in Photoshop that is like an image layer in Affinity?

Thank you, thank makes me very happy
You have been a MAJOR resource. Can’t wait to get your micro world course 😊
Thank you for explaining it so I understand them better.

Thanks so much for the clear explanation!
Thank you
I’ve always had that question about pixel vs image, rasterizing, etc. great explanation.
Great to hear!
Another great video Olivio! Thank you for your very clear explanation.
Thank you, you are very welcome 🙂
A very interesting and useful video, now I now why some of the tools didn't work on a picture. Very clear.
Excellent tutorial!
super helpful

@@OlivioSarikas Yeah, You're right. It's not the main topic of tutorial. Sorry :)
@@Grimmjow80 no, that's ok. You are right. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned embedded layers in this video. It's confusing
Thank you for such a great deal! I took advantage and will enjoy!
Awesome! Have fun with it!
Thanks Olivio :D > Can we make a Embedded Document
from a group of layers? like in photoshop?

Olivio non ci sono i sottotitoli in italiano...😪😪😪come mai in alcuni dei tuoi video ci sono e in altri non ci sono? Grazie!!!!

you are welcome
what happens when I edit a TIFF file? Will it open as image o pixel layer? Sorry to ask Olivio, kind of hard lol thank you !!!!

The Image layer is converted to a Pixel layer. I even show the message to that conversion in my video ;)
Superb tutorial as always. I became the one to add the 1000th like, never happened before .
Another reason for converting an image layer into a pixel layer is if you want to use third party plugins. They usually won't work with image layers.
True, but that falls under destructive methods
👍🙏
This confused the devil out of me for ages. I still don't like it which is why to turned to Pixelmator Pro.
Thanks Olivio! Now go get some sleep, you’re exhausted!
exhausted? what do you mean?
@@OlivioSarikas You seem very drained.. Look at your eyes.. Your energy is not up as it usually is.. You seem like you just woke up or are extremely tired.
Another, perfectly unintuitive, work around. Why is Affinity so complicated!?
English can be difficult. Say cawpied rather than copied. No offence intended.
Really? Do I pronounce it wrong? I will check that. It might be that my pronounciation is. Ore British English. I will check on that
Cawpied makes it even more confusing. Instead say COP (rhymes with stop or mop) & "eed" (as in seed but without the s)
Thank you.
