Yes it helped me. Glad I don't have to drop the tank either. Cause it's full of gas and it would have made things a little harder than It would have had to been.
Thanks for posting video. Not to be a jerk, but gas isn’t corrosive, it is bad to absorb through the skin. So, kudos to you for wearing gloves. Thanks again
Al Yasinski Good suggestion!. Good thing it only has to be removed once in the life of the vehicle. If you are lucky! Lol! No but really. Good suggestion
That's how you know it is the fuel pump. When your car won't start unless it has a full tank of gas. Lol. I'm jk, but it is a funny coincidence that many fuel pumps fail when u are nowhere near empty, making the tank heavy as hell!
@@Quartered_Rodent a lot of fuel pumps die right after you fill up. It’s almost a given that the tank will be full when the fuel pump dies. I’m not sure the reason for this, but it happens a lot. It may be time to change your fuel pump.
@@rickyadames7714yes you are right. i just checked with my voltmeter and it doesn't seem to be getting any power. I was regretting since the strong smell of fuel will be in my garage. didn't realize fuel pump for escort is kinda expensive. thanks to your video i have a bit more confidence in replacing. just need to order and wait.
@@Quartered_Rodent the smell is super strong but you can wear a painters mask with the two charcoal canisters in the sides and it will be more bearable but also more sweaty! It’s amazing how well those masks work or use a fan to vent the cab or your garage to make it a little easier
Hopefully you will see this and be able to help me! I have the exact same ford escort and I cannot find the correct fuel pump replacement for it. Can you recall where you bought it from. Thanks
The car will drive really slow or it won’t make a buzzing noise when you turn on the key. Many pumps buzz when first turning the key to on so they can prime the fuel circuit. Also another sign is if you crank the car and the car will not start. If you were getting spark, and the engine is turning over because of the starter, but it won’t start then fuel is the most likely cause unless you’re not getting compression. Not getting compression is a little rare though . An example of not getting compression would be if your head gasket blew or if the spark plug was not installed correctly
You saved me thousands of dollars stranger on the internet thank you so much
Man, I'm so glad it helped you :)
Great video man! Thanks so much. SO relieved I don't have to drop the tank!!
Yeah same here.

Thanks for the explanation, going to try to do this myself.
As much vapors as it produces I would suggest a BrushLess drill. A drill with brush sparks in the casing. Great video.
thank you very much :)

@@rickyadames7714 My car gave up on me right after i added gas to it. Drove around the corner and it just failed.

help I have no access cover to the fuel pump. it's only a little seal and a wire but no cap to unscrew
can you pry it off with a pry bar or strong flathead screwdriver?
If someone can answer this, what problems would you see when a fuel pump is going bad?
