I just lost my dad to brain cancer. He couldn’t speak but could hear. He loved this music era and he loved his boats and navigating those waters. He wouldn’t let go during his passing so I played this song and he peacefully finally let go to be free from his suffering ...sailing home across the sea to be near lord and to finally be free to be with him....😢💔 🕊 ⛵️🌊. It was the perfect song for my dad. R.I.P.
I'm so sorry to hear that. Seems like u're a very good son to him. RIP to your father. Believed me, u'll granted more wealthy and free of mind as u've take care your father until his final breath.
What a special thing u were able to share with him in his final hours! God bless you!
My grandfather died today (26th April 2024) and he was born 25th May 1934. He travelled all over the world for his job he was in the RAF, he was a lovely man. R.I.P Taid Robin (Taid is Welsh for grandad) and this was one of his favourite songs x
Im sorry for your loss, may your grandfather rest in peace..i miss my mom who passed away in 2022...this was one of her favorite songs too❤
Dear Becci, I lost my father in 2015 and he was born in 1928 and was the most upright person I have ever known, and he never interfered in the lives of his children. I miss him every week so I know what you are going through and sincerely hope you will always treasure the wonderful memories of your grandfather. This IS a beautiful song!
My sincere condolences to you and your family may you always have great memories stay strong
So sorry for your loss. I am lying peacefully in my small sailboat listening to this song and thinking of all the sailors who have gone to sea.
This song is unbelievably beautiful and timeless!
I can never stop listening to this song. From age 24 to 63. It's in the top 10 hits by Rod Stewart. This song drifts me to a peaceful place. I love it.
I'm completely captivated by this song again. It is used in the film "Été 85" (2020), I was crying so this touched me. It's a very powerful song.
'Sailing' is a timeless classic that always transports me to another place and time. The lyrics are so poetic and the melody is so captivating that it's impossible not to get lost in the song. Rod Stewart's voice is incredibly soulful and emotive, and he brings so much depth and feeling to every word. It's a song that speaks to the wanderlust in all of us and inspires us to set sail and chase our dreams. Thank you, Rod, for this beautiful and unforgettable masterpiece.👏

I am sailing
I am sailing
Home again
'Cross the sea
I am sailing
Stormy waters
To be near you
To be free
I am flying
I am flying
Like a bird
'Cross the sky
I am flying
Passing high clouds
To be near you
To be free
Can you hear me? Can you hear me?
Through the dark night, far away
I am dying, forever crying
To be with you, who can say
Can you hear me? Can you hear me?
Through the dark night, far away
I am dying, forever crying
To be with you, who can say?
We are sailing, we are sailing
Home again
'Cross the sea
We are sailing
Stormy waters
To be near you
To be free
Oh, Lord, to be near you, to be free
Oh, my Lord, to be near you, to be free
Oh, my Lord, to be near you, to be free
Oh, Lord
Oh wow. This is the bottom line to life itself. I never knew it was meant for the singers deep desire to find the Lord. Very powerful.
One of my all time favorites. Came out when I was 13 . Remember it well. I never new what it was about til now

I become so peaceful while hearing. Thanks for the music, Dear Mister Rod Stewart
When I was younger, my dad was a sailing instructor running a sailing school in South Africa. He loved sailing, he loved boats, and he taught me and my brother to love it too. He used to sing his own version of this song to us every night. Brings back a ton of old happy memories; sailing along the coast, being seasick, being terrified when we left SA in a massive squall, fishing at the docks of the marina with my brother, the feeling of hugging my dad when he'd just come home and was wearing the sailing school jacket... Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and appreciate all the simplicity and oblivion of my life then
This makes my heart both melancholic as well as happy. Hope you are doing well. thank you for honoring your father like that. I remember trying to fall asleep and still feeling the bobbing up and down sensations of the boat when I was back on land. The ocean deserves our respect. I am sorry about your feelings of wishing to go back and I know exactly what you mean. God Bless.

My mother requested this song be played at her funeral in 2003 at age 57 due to cancer. It is a very spiritual song if you listen closely to the lyrics. She died at night with us all around her so every time I her "through the dark night far away" i think of her flying away through the dark night far away to be near God, to be free of her pain.
I know how you feel ....i lost my mother this year in April with a Shit illness ...She was 53 Years old .... my Heart is broken in million peaces....
I sailed for 35 yrs on merchant vessels…. This song was my constant companion on those lonely stormy nights ! Thanks Rod … every sailor thanks you from the bottom of his heart for this masterpiece . This song was the light we always followed at the of those stormy nights 💐💐💐💐💐🙏🏼

Reminds me as a child, when I'd hear this song playing on my dad's radio late at night. Everyone was alseep. Particular songs will always take you back to a specific time and place.
I have certain songs that brings me the same memory, but it was my mom listening to the radio late at night while everyone slept.
This song was played at my mom's funeral. She didn't have many wishes in life but this was her wish :( rest in peace. I miss you so much.
Meus sentimentos, eu também sei o quanto isso dói muito né aalma!!
Aw! I never thought it being played at a funeral. I understand how. God be with you 🙏🕊️💞

Who are listing in 2020.. it’s one of the masterpiece touching to everyone’s soul. Rod you gave the world a very beautiful song.🙏🙏
This was one of my dads favourite songs when he served in the Navy. It was the same song that played at his funeral. Now it has been passed down to me as I have gone into the Navy too. The feeling this song gives me is so hard to describe. Being only 20, it's hard to not think about him. Accepting the fact music changes, it's still nice to go back to this song every now and again. Gives me solitude and peace.
So much healing in the song and sweet memories. And honor in your family's service.
I take a bow to your father and thank him for his service 🙏,,and I thank you for yours.
This song was played at my mother's funeral last month too 💔 it was one of her favourite songs too and here I am now listening, looking for solitude and peace just like you said. Such a bittersweet song for me 💓
May your father Rest In Peace and thank you and your dad for the service of our country.
>It was the same song that played at his funeral

You and your father gave new value to the Sailing.
