When I got home from Vietnam I was yearning for song. Any song. One of my albums that i brought at the PX was this album. She fell in love with it. She asked me why I didn't send of it her a record I said yo mama I was in the Infantry. So I played it to her and she would tell me it sounded good and kept asking me to play it again. About the time we would listen to it and many others my mother I would still listen to later my father would walk into the room and bitch about the music. He was getting up from another binge on the drink. My mother loved R&R but this song came through. It was Rod Stewart's version of "Sailing: RIP my loving and groovy mother. Lets play it one more time.

Absolutely beautiful! I looked this up because I just watched "Summer of '85" on Prime Video and this was the theme song. "Sailing" was a perfect poignant metaphor for events in the movie. Surprisingly I had never heard it before. I love it.

I heard this song first time in 1976 as a 13 year old boy. Have loved it ever since. I have now been a sailor for 40 years, Captain for 20 years and I still love this song. In 1996 on a crossing from NY to Le Havre with the legendary former SS France, SS Norway mI use to dance to this song on the bridge when I did 12-4 watch. Memories....sooo many good memories.

I heard this song first time in 1976 as a 13 year old boy. Have loved it ever since. I have now been a sailor for 40 years, Captain for 20 years and I still love this song. In 1996 on a crossing from NY to Le Havre with the legendary former SS France, SS Norway mI use to dance to this song on the bridge when I did 12-4 watch. Memories....sooo many good memories.
