What have been some of your favorite blind buys? 📚📚📚
Batman The Knight, Batman/Superman World’s Finest volume 1, and Suicide Squad Bad Blood.
@@spencerolson7045 I still really want to check out Bad Blood
@@TheComicBookReport well I would definitely recommend it
@@spencerolson7045 😂👍👍
Superman Smashes the Klan. Saw it on the shelf, saw it was cheap and it is now my favorite Superman story I’ve ever read along with All-Star, For All Seasons, and the new Supercorp run.
Loved me some Nocterra. Found it as well after researching Snyder books after reading Batman. Just patiently waiting for a hardcover now!!
@@tylerjc1000 it has to be coming.
That was a fun read, the art from Daniel I thought was also excellent
The Marvel Stephen King The Stand Omnibus was a hugely discounted blind buy, and it ended up being a pretty great read, with excellent Mike Perkins art. I think it is long OOP, and, i sold my copy on for a good price.
Love Stephen king. I’ve read a good handful of the dark tower comics but never delved deep into the stand adaptations
@@TheComicBookReportI was on the fence when it came to the reprint of the Dark Tower omnis. I know Peter David wrote some of it so that alone had me interested.
@@anthonyufert8477 yeah I have the smaller hardcover collections or most of them I never ended up upgrading to the Omnis
Love your videos man. Keep it up!
@@az6624 thank you so much!
Love your videos! I bought FF by Matt Fraction because of your video (first one I ever saw from you). And I loved it to death. I’d call it a flawed masterpiece, because FF was amazing, the Fantastic Four side was a bit janky at spots, but together, what a fun read
Wow thank you so much!
And YES! This just makes me happy I Love that book, such an underrated FF collection. Definitely agree with your points here 📚
Great stuff as usual Dom.
One of these days I’ll have to use your topics for my own videos because MAN do you think of stuff I could never ever think of!
@@Illuminerdy_ I know you could bud! You’re creative 💪
And to be fair this video was suggested by a watched 😉
I’d love to see your picks on stuff like this :)
@@TheComicBookReport haha I try to be but you got me beat brother!
@@Illuminerdy_ idk man you’ve returned now 💪 sky’s the limit
@@TheComicBookReport we shall see brother!
Been in France and found a copy of Nocterra TPB1 & Undiscovered Country TPB1 at good prices so have them a go after seeing this. Long way to go to take them back so hope they are going to be good….
@@garyfoster65 well I sincerely hope you enjoy. Both of those series I’ve had considerable fun with
I'm new to comics and I gotta say you're channel is one of the best comic channels out there every time I watch one of your videos I add several books to My already way too long list. Btw have you read Jack Kirby's Fourth World and if so can a new Reader dig into it without any Prior knowledge (I mean of course I know who the New Gods are and I have a pretty good amount of knowledge about the DC Universe/Multiverse, but still)
@@its_shoot2876 wow thank you so much! I love trying to create content with newer readers in mind when I can :)
There’s so much content out there it’s nice to get recommendations here and there 😉
Thanks for watching!
To answer your question:
No I have not read Fourth World. It’s kind of always been on my wishlist someday as I do love Jack Kirby and it’s his opus at DC. I know a lot of people who love that stuff but I cannot speak to it directly. I think if it interests you and you are open to older comics go for it! I also try to give a heads up to those who maybe only read modern comics that sometimes golden, silver, early bronze can read Very dated and overwordy. Ha
But yeah I say if you’re interested dive in!
@@TheComicBookReport Thanks for the reply and yeah I have heard about the dialouge in those ages being a bit dated, but I think I would still give it a go, if I ever buy and read it (of course I hope that is as soon as possible) I will come back to this comment and tell you how I think it was. Have a good day!
@@its_shoot2876would love that! If you do check it out I hope you enjoy :)
If I end up getting it and giving it a read I’ll likely review on channel ha
Y: the last man by Brian K Vaughn
A very memorable book
Awesome video!
@@kevinwieken4381 thanks so much
One that I enjoyed was Gideon falls by Jeff lamitre
@@Johnmrobinson-vb5vd I don’t read a ton of horror anymore but that is a title I think looks very interesting
@@TheComicBookReport it was a great read with great art
@@Johnmrobinson-vb5vd 👍👍
Hey man! Are you planning anything for disability pride month? Having a visual disability myself, I think tying into things like that could raise appreciation for it. Maybe a list of great books with disabled heroes? Or even a Daredevil video.
Oh wow this is rad! I admittedly don’t know a ton about disability pride month but I’ll look into it. I always love good daredevil content 🤔
You're poiNt on the Fraction run of FF bring under rated and spoken poorly of seems to be a common issue with fraction's other runs too. I am a few issues from ending his Thor omni and it really surprised me and was much better than I had anticipated. It started a little weak (imho) but picked up really quickly and is showing to have a really strong end.
Great blind buy list and another great video.
I think this is a fair point as well. I find myself enjoying most books I read from fraction! That Thor book was fun, my first Thor Omni I completed. Reviewed that one on the channel a few months back.
Have you read his invincible iron man run?
@TheComicBookReport No I haven't read that, but I have read really any iron man stuff. Do you have it in your TBR pile?
@@GimilitheGreat I’ve read most of his iron man run before but it’s been years. It was I believe the first time I was introduced to Fraction :) anyway, just curious if you had checked it out
@@TheComicBookReport I'll add it to my list.
How far are you into Aaron's thor run? I just stretched the spine on vol. 1 and soon to dig in.
@@GimilitheGreat I finished all the stuff with Gorr and maybe got another 5 issues in after that? Still a ways to go but solid content so far
For me if I see the name Zdarsky on the book I will buy it without needing to do research about it
@@Chester781 not a bad way to go 💪💯
Blue Wall is better than Gotham City year 1 IMO.
@@tylerjc1000 what is that one about?
@@TheComicBookReport It's full name is GCPD The Blue Wall. It's similar to Gotham city year one and came out around the same time.
@@tylerjc1000 oh very cool! I’ll need to keep an eye out!
Can I ask you what your favorite Star Wars Legends omnibus is, Dominick?
@@benupc I’ll admit my friend I have not read any of the Star Wars legends material. I’m newer to Star Wars comics but have enjoyed what I’ve read thus far but I’ve only read post-Disney Star Wars comics.
Wish I could be of more help. I could be wrong but I think Tyler from Illuminerdy has read more of that material? He may be an excellent resource I believe you mentioned enjoying his channel as well :)
@@TheComicBookReportThank you for your advice, Dominick. I have asked Tyler as well. 😅 Enjoy your weekend, my friend.
@@benupc if you get any recommendations let me know 😂😂😂
Same to you my friend
@@TheComicBookReport I just bought the graphic novel of “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy. Manu Larcenet adapted and drew it. I was really impressed by the movie and I am looking forward to reading it. It looks epic.
I am really enjoying the on going Savage Sword of Conan.
Are you reading Marc Waid’s Worlds Finest. That’s awsome too…👍🏻
@@benupc I’ve read part of The Road (the novel), and have enjoyed what I’ve read. I’ll need to finish it one day. Have yet to see the movie.
I have not read Worlds Finest but I’ve heard almost universally great things and I love the characters and creators attached to that book
