    Prior to surgery doctors need to tell us about the scar tissue issue. And the need for movement of the skin area. No one told me anything like that before or after until I went into therapy almost actually a week after surgery although I had in-home therapy. I even had one place I called want to put me With a therapist one month later after surgery. If a friend of mine had not mentioned the scar tissue issue, I probably would have gone with that. Somehow doctors need to understand we need to know those things. It’s not a question we would even think to ask!

Both times I strengthed before surgery which led to fast recovery. Same this time so far one week post I'm achieving 95° degree bend quad activation by day 3 after nerve block but skin tighten, oh my i could just scream! You my sir just saved my life!. I had a car accident on March 29 and had multiple tibia fractures and a fracture across the bottom of the knee cap. All along my orthopedic doctor was telling me at a certain point, I would have physical therapy. I have been wearing a brace since the accident and it as 4 bands that you tighten and wheels on the side of the knee that I eventually was able to release and bend my knee. My last appointment was June 11 and that was when he said he was going to arrange for the PT. But at that appointment, he said I didn't need it. I think I need it. I'm also having ankle difficulties and he x rays that at each visit along with the knee, but he never comments on it. It has lots of swelling. And my foot hurts. This doctor specializes in knee and shoulder. Should I go to another doctor who specializes in foot and ankle? My insurance will cover everything. I am 76. I have some osteoporosis. Will some of your knee surgery exercises be good for my knee. I would appreicate any help you can give. Thank you. Your videos are very informative. My brother, who had knee surgery, sent them to me. Thanks a bunch.

    Hi, I just had my knee surgery a week ago and I'm about to begin physiotherapy soon. But I am wondering if I start bending my knee, the scar surface will be stretched out and get bigger right? • @totaltherapysolutions
      @totaltherapysolutions  3 роки тому +4

      The way I would describe it is your body will lay down scar tissue as it heals the incision both in the skin and deep into the joint. The motion will keep the new scar tissue mobile and possibly help the new fibers better organize. The more you can maintain mobility through an increasing range of motion toward normal the more pliable that new tissue will be.

      midnight runner sorry to hear that. Some therapists believe in that kind of aggressive approach while others believe in a more gradual approach. We honestly don’t know which is best.
      Personally, as a therapist, I prefer less intensity but greater frequency. Light stretches ever couple hours instead of heavy stretching followed by increased pain and decreased function.
      Do you feel more comfortable when you do your stretches at home?

      I have the same problem and into my sixth week. Starting to get concerned because I have a low pain threshold. Pt is going to put me in a device that will bend my knee. It’s very painful. Are there any less painful options for knee flexion?

    I am 6 weeks post dual knee replacements and I can barely get to 90 degrees with both legs. The skin in my incision does seem adhered to my patella and I don’t have much patella movement. I am going on for a manipulation under a spinal but what will free my skin and why wouldn’t. The adhesions come back. One other issue I should note is that I have Ehlers Danlos syndrome with is a connective tissue problem. I had hyper mobility but now I have the opposite problem. Will a manipulation help the adhesions in the skin above my patella? You mentioned a suction devise what is that and how do I use it?

      lynne, just wanted to tell you how i hurt for you. i know it won't help, but for me, just getting anyone to understand how how hard and upsetting TKR can be is helpful. saying a prayer for your improvement and so hope you overcome these problems ASAP - like right now, lol.

      Lynn, I hope you contacted your surgeon's office to share this problem with them. Please take care, and DO be an advocate for your own health!

    Thank you for your videos! I'm 6 weeks post surgery but injured my knee 1 week ago on my stationary bicycle (with approval to begin).😊
    I failed to check my seat position and at the first turn out, put my knee in about a 140-150 angle. EXTREME pain and I'm sure injured much tissue.
    Will stop PT for a week for healing. Any words of wisdom?
    Oddly enough my right knee started with major issues a couple weeks prior to my surgery and now dealing with pain from it on a constant basis. Watching this video, I tried moving my knee cap (unlocked position) and it doesn't budge in any direction. What does that indicate?

    Once a singel muscle is cut, it is filled with low quality tissue and voila that tissue will limit you and you ll lose ROM due to muscles around athropies
    So in essence, a surgery is rather a permanent change that will affect you.

    7 weeks post op got to 107 so far doctor is suggesting a manual which I did with last TKR. The manual took me from a 95 bend to a 75 I basically had to start over. I say another manual won’t be happening I’ll work through it this time.
