Excellent video. Really surprised this game doesn't have more coverage on UA-cam - it's got so much potential.

Yeah I agree! I'd love to see more games like this get coverage.

This was so helpful! I've avoided looking into journaling solo games because I simply don't want to do a lot of writing. This really helped me see how I could enjoy playing some solo journaling games without a lot of overwhelming journaling, just working with the mechanics. I'm looking into getting Apothecaria now, with this new perspective.
I also really enjoyed seeing how you added to the game using Table Fables. I have those books as well. I think I'll enjoy adding to the Apothecaria experience using Table Fables also.

I appreciate you running through this, helps me put together all the mechanics in my head, as I have a hard time doing so but wanting to play these solo rpgs!

You're welcome! I agree some of them are kind of hard to get a grasp of. I certainly was flipping a lot back and forth to check rules in my first couple sessions!

While I like full-on journaling games too, this sort where you just get occasional prompts intermixed with more traditional game mechanics works really well for me too.

This video is exactly what I needed! I am brand new to solo RPGs (half-watching people play DnD in 1982 doesn't count, right?) I literally didn't know where or how to start this game! Thank you so much!

You're welcome! :D Seeing how other people do things always helps me wrap my head around it, even when I end up doing it a bit differently.

Funnily enough, I also have River and Stone deck and was planning to use it for Apothecaria but life got in the way

It feels like the perfect deck for the job! I haven't had time to game much recently either, but hopefully we can both get back to the table soon.

I started this last night. Made a familiar and did a little profile for him - a miniture green dragon called Terra :)
For my first patient i actually used chat GPT ust as it was late and my brain wasnt working 😅 it actually came up with an awesome character concept for them with background story!

Nice! Smart use of Chat GPT! I hope you and Terra cure many ailments together 😛

Nice! Just out of curiosity, are you looking forward to the "journaling" aspect?

@@runiverse2301 I think so. I started a little small with the familiar and my first “patient”, to take the pressure off of journaling and ended up with like two pages of background story lol. This is my first time playing any ttrpg

@@SecretNoir Awesome! I think one of the reasons I'm afraid of journaling is I know how much time I'd end up spending on every little thing. Even the reagents have story potential, like the process of gathering mucus from a frog!

@@runiverse2301 oh I can see that for sure. I kept a note sheet like you for the details and then ended up just journaling after I was done playing for “the week” kind of like a reflection

Do you have a link to the syllables naming chart? Did you make it? I don’t see anything like it online.

I played a while ago and stopped, but am wanting to get back into it. I'm into creative writing so it works really well for me. My familiar is a hellhound 😂

This is so cool! Did you print your copy of the book out? Or did it come in black and white like that?

Hi! I buy this rpg right after I have seen your video so thank you so much! But I have some dubts: do I have a storage space or there are none so I can collect no limit reagent? And how it work the downtime? I can go foraging and collect all of the reagent that I can in 6 times (with activated event for each attempt)? 🙏

    • @runiverse2301
      @runiverse2301  Рік тому +1

Those are great questions 😅I'm not sure how downtime is supposed to work, which is why I haven't used it that much. But I imagine you can do whatever makes you enjoy the game the most.

25:57 Or someone liking fire and explosions, like JKR's Seamus Finnigan. Someone that might want you to create some explosive during your downtime...
