What a strange, strange, movie. I love it. It just has this surreal and odd feel to it despite it focusing on these mundane interactions that end up being anything but mundane.
I find this scene so sad. Louis being rejected and dismissed after sharing something he's obviously proud of. If a man sang "People Like Us" to me I know I'd probably fall in love, haha. Not to mention that little performance was adorable ("haven't written this verse quite yet..."). What a good movie...
@@justintime1343 no, just a comparison to the reality of most situations like these. Louis regained his composure and walked away like a gentleman, and arguably even she handled it quite well, silently acknowledging his dejected nature (big ups to the legendary actors, ofc). I don't know if you've had similar experiences, but as someone who's only experience with romance/dating has been like this, I can assure you that there's usually a lot more hostility, dismissal and toxicity involved. It's actually a bit of a hopeful scene to those of us who consider "being friendzoned" a good outcome; the chance to not destroy platonic bonds, and to become better people out of it. I never said it ended happily, just that a situation like this could've been, and IRL usually is, a lot more hurtful.

Wanting love, especially to the point where one might start to desire it over freedom as his lyrics stated, is a pretty pathetic idea to many people. A sign of dependency, neediness, etc. I don't agree with it, but I understand where they're coming from 🤷

My mom says that's her nationality. She has blood from all over Europe (and the bits of Asia and Africa that are nearby). She got that saying from her dad - maybe it was just kind of a popular phrase when Heinz 57 came onto the market? Perhaps people just began saying "Heinz 57" as shorthand for "mixed with everything."
