Phil! I appreciate the comment on this random hunting-related video. Shooting some arrows is my other go-to evening activity besides RC flying. Hmm, why am I obsessed with objects flying through the air? Lol.
Google-fu! I need to remember that lol. Search for "paper deer target" and you'll see some good images from Morrell and Champion. I just saw some images I wish I'd used instead! Good luck- sorry for the slow response 👍🏼
This is Great! Definitly the best and most realistic out here! How long does the target hold up? I have a big bag Where sand used to be in laying down here.. could use this one too!
Thanks! From 30 yards away, this target does look pretty realistic. I've hit the wood a couple of times, which made for difficult arrow extraction, but no real damage. After probably 120 arrows, the foam middle part is soft but it still stops arrows. I'll probably make a new center part next year.
MostlyHarmlessRC Nice! I was thinking to put in Maybe a existing foam target from another 3D target for example.. But again, best diy target on UA-cam!
Thanks for the question. I scaled it so that height at the shoulder was 36 inches, which is about average for adult deer in Oklahoma. This made the body a little over 4 feet from chest to rump.
Hi Josh - I have to correct what I said yesterday. I just measured, and the chest-to-rump measurement of mine is actually about 40 inches. Sorry I said that wrong before!
Great job
Thanks very much! It's held up well for several years now.
That’s one of the better diy I have seen
Thanks!
One of the best ideas I've seen so far. Excellent!
Thanks! It was easier than a lot of ideas I'd seen online.
Also, that was good shooting! How far were you shooting?
Thanks again! That was from 30 yards and not my best shooting but I'll take it. 😎
hey MH...i missed this vid somehow.... 8 months ago! You've got the skills. That was some tight grouping there. Good vid my friend.

Can I use plywood or does it have to be mdf?
Hi Desiree - Thin plywood (quarter inch) would work fine I think. I used mdf because I think it was cheaper at the time. Good luck
do you remember where you got the picture from for the outline?
my google fu for finding this has been pretty bad.

What happens if you hit the MDF board ?
I've done this many times now! My arrows penetrate both layers a few inches but are undamaged. With a good grip and some coaxing, they pull out okay.
I have an 8x11 target. What was the scale you used to enlarge it on adobe?
Thanks for the question. I scaled it so that height at the shoulder was 36 inches, which is about average for adult deer in Oklahoma. This made the body a little over 4 feet from chest to rump.
@@mostlyharmlessrc3920 Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply. This will be my next project. Great video!
