So helpful! Thank you for showing us how you set up your studio and simplify your workflow. It's one of the things that I'm currently trying to figure out, and this saves a lot of time.
Perfect timing! Just this week, I've been looking for a good, reasonably priced, 27" 4K monitor... that BenQ looks like it checks all the boxes. Thanks for the great (and, for me, timely) content!
You said that ATEM accepts only 1080p, but it works fine with 4K output from my GH5, downscaling it to 1080p.

Man, the more and more I watch of your stuff, I’m just surprised you don’t have more followers. Your stuff is on point. The colour videos and codecs I took classes in college on that was less extensive.
Great setup Gerald! I shoot all my UA-cam videos with the A7III to Ninja V and I recently started using one of those portable 15" 4K monitors that powers off USB-C. The colours and exposure are not at all accurate, but as you say it's more for a focus and framing reference. It makes a huge difference to just be able to glance and get a clear pincture. No more squinting! 😅 Only thing I wish is that Atomos allowed you to output display info over the Ninja V's HDMI out. I'm getting a clean loopout feed but having the runtime and audio meters overlay like you get from the Blackmagic HDMI out would be super helpful!
Mate, you're really good at explaining the quintessence. Also, I really like the level of detail you go into which is quite a welcome alternative to many other youtubers in this field. I wonder why there are not more people subscribing your channel as you really deserve that given the quality of your content.
Nice video as always! My go to budget solution for big screen monitoring that does accept 30p is just a 32 to 40 inch tv that is lying around already. It also gives more distance for any usable image. And with most models from LG and Samsung, a ride into the Service Mennu will unlock HV flip which will flip the image into mirror mode for self monitoring videos.
Solid video as always Gerald ! Yep, it doesn't have anything related, I've just made a video about my audio gear and for me the best mic is the *wireless go* , so small, reliable, a multi prurpose mic.
I really like the opening sequence.. you are obviously smart, but you don't take yourself too seriously. And “I’m the stuff that dreams are made of...” nice. Keep up the good work, and add more humour where you can. Humour is the price of life.
What I do even more often is a teleprompter if speaking direct to cam. It helps avoid the looking over at the monitor glances that can be a little distracting for the viewer. Almost a year and a half ago I got a 28 inch 4k Samsung monitor on a black friday sale for only $250. Waiting for black friday for stuff like that is really helpful on the budget.
More information just in a single video... Woahhh you blowed my mind man 😍😍🙏 thanks for your quality content. You never failed to teach us a good information 🙏 keep doing it.
I've been using the Sony a6500 with an LG 24UD58-B 4K UHD IPS monitor and a mini HDMI to HDMI cable, and have had no issues filming at 24fps in 4k. The monitor is about $300, might be worth picking up
Great video - I also just noticed that UA-cam is visually showing the table of contents on the video timeline in segments, first time I see that- cool!
For those in the US this week there is a big discount on the LG 34WL850-W, which is a 34" 21:9, 98% DCI-P3 with hardware calibration, 75Hz, FreeSync at 699US$. (At B&H)
Just had a need for this, i just used a 100€ Raven eyemodule and used the output of my phone. Delay was decent in my opinion, since havent noticed any. I would recommend the RavenEye coupled with you phone. Costs close to nothing and is fun using, the added bonus is you have the cheapest video transmitter on the market. 🎉😅
My information about my BenQ SW2700PT is that, while it's ten bit and hardware-calibrated, the drivers store the information. This allows me to put the monitor on a KVM, so I can switch mouse, keyboard, tablet between computers.
Saj again.... 👀 Your the person to like the videos in first 5 seconds...because I rather do straight away, as am knocked out till end, to forget liking at the end. 😂🤣 👍🏼❤️❤️❤️👍🏼

Wow, this was packed with tons of helpful and time saving information! I am preparing to start a new UA-cam channel (really, my first ever) and liked the fact that you are sharing things that make your life easier, because it really helps ours! What did I like? Many things, but here are a few bullets (P-shew! Zing! Zing! Oops, missed! Well, that was a long shot!) 1. I was experimenting with using an old 1080p HDTV yesterday, and I think it is helping me learn more quickly as I am setting up the lights and cameras. 2. I really love the idea of having everything set up so that one can start recording as soon as inspiration strikes. I have lost a lot of great ideas due to procrastination. 3. I appreciate the 75% speed joke, and I hope I can grow up to speak as quickly, AND accurately, as you are able to😃
Thank you for another useful video. I am happy with BENQ products in general. I recently invested in the BENQ3200U and for the price, what you get is very good in my opinion. Thanks again.
Hi Gerald, I am Ranga from Germany and I really like your videos. Perhaps you could in a very practical way touch the subject of different frame rates and settings. Example: You want to make a UA-cam video. Your Camera is set up to 25pfs, then you have the atem-frame-rate and at last postproduction and UA-cam. What settings do you use yourself during theese steps? By the way. If I set my camera-framerate to 25p the atem gives me a distorted picture of that specific video-Input. Any idea why this happens? Take care & Cheers, Ranga
Dang needed this yesterday haha I have a old 2014 or so vizio tv I wanted to use as external for my Sony a6300 so I bought a hdmi to micro hdmi, now I doubt it will work since I film in 4k
Great content, as usual. There's nothing that would make you and/or the director happier than a large monitor screen to view while shooting. Can you recommend any gear for mounting these monitors on C-stands? I know for on set use, you may need the choice of placing the monitor to be viewed while standing or sitting. So, the means of mounting on a C-stand would be especially helpful.
Thanks, Todd! I've been looking for something that converts from the VESA mount on the back of the monitors to the 5/8" rod or common spigot, but everything I've seen is a semi-janky hardware store solution combining a monitor arm with a clamps and such. Nothing too elegant. But it does seem to work, just a bit wobbly. Edit: Found this, but it's expensive: bhpho.to/2SJejLG Edit #2: This might be better: bhpho.to/3ccXsZt
The biggest challenge since the beginning of the whole “videoconferencing during COVID-19” fiasco is staring at the lens instead of peering off to the corner of my eye to look at myself on a screen.
@Gerald Undone, please do a video on ACES and the workflow in Davinci! There are a lot of videos out there, but I think the comunity needs thy thouroughness on this one! Thanks a lot in advance! 😁
