Kopecky made her move but went too early and then completely lost her legs and limped through the last 200 meters. Excellent win for Longo Borghini.

Clearly, those men who say that women cycling isn't exciting don't know what they are talking about.
I'm a men and I clearly prefer women cycling for it's intensity.

Wow! But what happened to Kopecky? Did the legs just give way or was there a problem with the bike?
I think she tried to get away in a desperate effort and just completely nuked herself. It's not like Kopecky had other options... so she tried but couldn't get any separation. But it was a great demonstration by ELB to really show she earned the win.

This video will be chaotic if you don't know the score, but Longo Borghini went into this last stage just one second ahead of Kopecky in the Overall standings - the accumulated time over all the stages so far - so she didn't need to win the stage, just not finish more than a second behind Kopecky (they were too far ahead in the Overall standings to really have to worry about the rest). As it turned out, Longo Borghini rode away from Kopecky at the end and clinched the Giro.
There were bonus seconds available if they'd finished in the first three, but Elisa wouldn't want to try to chase down the breakaway because she'd have towed Lotte with her. And if they'd finished in the first three and Lotte had finished ahead of Elisa, even on the same time, Lotte would have gained two bonus seconds and won the Giro, so Elisa wouldn't want to risk that.
All quite complicated and crazy close - almost unheard of for two riders to go into the last stage a second apart!

Are you confusing Elisa Balsamo with Elisa Longo Borghini?
The commentator said Kopecky had no answer. Why should she chase when all the bonus seconds are already gone.
Are you kidding? if Kopecky had the legs She could sprint and gain 1-2 seconds to Elisa. But She couldnt follow Elisa's attak. When you are in Battle for a GT you give everything you have.
It would have been enough for Kopecky to preceed Longo Borghini of two seconds over the finish line to take the overall victory.
Instead it was Longo Borghini to do so, proving that the world champion was spent and had indeed no answer to give.
Sorry to say, but on this stage Kopecky suffered an impressing defeat.
ELB finished a couple seconds ahead of Kopecky. If Kopecky sprinted and got that gap, she would have won GC.
Because you can attack and cross the line with a 2 second gap.
