When I saw that the first thing that happened when one connects their phone to the drone is that there is a firmware update, I realized I wanted to take care of that at home before heading out to attempt my first flight. Dustin - Great video/tutorial. Received my Parrot ANAFI about a week ago. With the latest software version (1.3.2) , Hardware version (HW_03) for Free flight 6, under the "Interface" tab, there is now an option to choose your measurement system: Auto / Imperial or Metric. Enjoy :).

It is. It is quiet and lower pitched in its propeller note so it sounds quieter when you are near to it, it is far less annoying to the human or insect ear but you can actually hear it further away if you are listening out for it. The higher pitched notes of other drones are annoying and intrusive, this in contrast is almost pleasant to listen to and when you have tuned in to listening for it you can hear the reassuring "yes, I'm still in the air, all is well" gentle hum from a huge distance. Lower sound frequencies travel further but are harder to locate in space, you can hear the Anafi is out there still flying but the sound is coming from "over there, somewhere" it is hard to pinpoint precisely. I think you could narrow it down to a third or a quarter of the sky, somewhere over there, ish.
Another good video Dustin. Question... maybe I missed it, but I didn't notice you setting the RTH height, etc. I've heard of limitations in this area. Any observations? Thanks and keep up the good work! I'm especially looking forward to your further range tests on both the Anafi and the Evo.
You can set the RTH height in the geofencing area with the slider. I believe I showed it. The height will remain how you set it even if you turn the gefence off for distance 👍
Now you can set your own RTH height with a slider, this feature was added in August. The initial release was a little rushed, trying to scoop the Mavic 2. It is much better now than the package reviewed by the early adopters/industry shills in June or July.
I thought it was because they currently have it locked on distance. I keep hearing it has a system similar to occusync and I'm really curious how it performs. Really it's the only thing holding me back from ordering
I did a quick EVO warm up range flight yesterday. Light Urban area 2.2 miles out with Crystal clear FPV. About 50% battery left when it got back...very promising. I'll have the short vid up tomorrow. Next up max range test 👍
I would have to create a mod using the ipad adapter from the skycontroller1 to fit my galaxy tab a, phones are too small to fpv or read the flight data,hmm to buy or not

Mine arrive Sat, 1/12/19, after charging everything, I flew it Sun 1/13?19. It is great. On my FreeFlight 6 App, I can set my RTH minimum height and my units are Imperial. What i don't know how to do, yet, is make it shoot in HDR mode. Do you know how the select HDR? Thanks, Bobby
Cool one again Dustin. To my opinion it is a bit dangerous the firmware could not update for the first time. I understand wireless connections are not faultless, maybe they can deliver a cable to do a faultless update and check/monitor the wireless part afterwards. Thanks for sharing your great video. Top!

Looks pretty good. I've seen some other reviews, and it seems a good competitor to the Mavic Air. I DO wish that they had included Imperial measurements ... perhaps in a future update. Also disappointing that Parrot forces you to BUY those last couple of features (follow me and waypoints ... definitely NOT cool). We'll be watching for your flight review, although, you might not be able to accomplish much with just one battery (unless you bring a power bank to the field with you and charge the flight battery whilst taking a nap in your car ... ha ha). Mahalo!
Good points Bill and I agree. Parrot hasn't had the imperial option in app with android on any of there high end drones Which baffles me. Really hope they sort it out soon. I've got an extra Anafi battery FYI 😁👍
I was very behind in videos. I watched today last 9 your videos. Almost all at about 40 minutes length. Uhhhh. But it nice that I was behind. In last 2 weeks I spent a lot of time for preparing 2 racing drones. Finally I went into the air. (Y) :)

Interesting drone, havent heard of it so far. I am really excited how the "2,5 axis gimbal" will turn out. (Still dont like, that they call it on their specs 3 axis, because it has only 2 axis mechanical...) But extended features over in app purchases... thats something where they really develop in the wrong direction.

Will this drone make the price of the bebop 2 lower because I really want a bebop 2. My friend has one and I have been so impressed with it and I don't need some extremely professional drone. I flew his drone a few times and it was so easy and filmed incredible footage.I can't wait to see what this Anafi can film.

The included cable is very short and they only include one, 2 would of been nice so you can charge the drone and controller at the same time if required. [update] OK I retract the shorter cable is ideal for controller to phone connection but not for charging the drone or controller
The controller is constantly charging an android phone. There is nothing I can do with it. The phone drains the battery much quicker than the batteries of the drone last. Is it the same if you connect the iphone?

After a 2nd review of your excellent and informative video, I still don't see where the altitude of the RTH can be set by the pilot. I've heard it was pre-set at 20 meters, (no change possible) but wanted to positively find out. Cheers!
Heard back from Parrot yesterday. The RTH altitude is not able to be adjusted by the pilot. It is pre-set by Parrot at 20 meters. I am concerned by this as I (as well as anyone) can envision a scenario where 20 meters is simply not sufficient altitude for a RTH. We must remember that a RTH command can result from signal loss, etc. I frequently fly over, and most importantly, amidst, obstacles higher than 20 meters (65 feet) and there are a few instances where I'd set the RTH altitude much lower. Simply put, it must be user-adjustable. Other than this oversight, I really think the Anafi is a bird with great potential.
This was addressed by software and firmware update in August. You now have new 2.7k video options and a user adjustable RTH height, better stability and numerous other tweaks. I think Parrot were a little rushed trying to beat the Mavic 2 to the market and so it wasn't done perfectly, but now it is a much more mature and stable product.
Yes, the RTH altitude setting on the Anafi was updated recently to allow user definable parameters. It's nice to know someone was listening. Bravo Parrot!
Hi a dji spark fly more combo is £579 in the uk. And the anafi is £629. I cant afford the mavic air even tho it might come down in price if they bring out the mavic 2. But what would u recommend spark fly more (stabilization) or anafi 4k. Cheers.

They both offer very different options. I'd look at them all and see what matters to You. Flight time, noise level, range, obstacle avoidance are a few main points and differences.
First impression is compared to the Mavic Air is it looks cheap. The flexible arms may help in a crash but they look like they'll flex a lot in flight too. I'll be interested in the flight tests but based off what I've seen so far for the same price I'll stick to the Air.
Not by that much. But your losing obstical avoidance. Anafi has more flight time. They are both good value. If your not a dji fan I think this is a great choice
Hello just got the Anafi bound & flys well but my range seems a bit limited get Green GPS but radar cone that denotes receivers direction & strength is red drones cone is green in semi urban area not had chance to fly rural can anyone give me some help or advice.
Wow $800 and it comes with locked features. I was on their website and they don't advertise the follow me feature as being an add-on. I'm disappointed.
Dustin Dunnill actually I am flying with iPad 2018 perfectly, waiting new firmware patch for Honor and Huawei as customer care today's communication. After my old Seraphi crash I was looking for a new drone an two day ago a for special offer of electronic mall I bought Anafi for 💶520 !!!
Wasn't a fan of the quirky Bebop (possibly because the two people I knew who had them were morons) but this looks like it's on a different level. Can't wait to see further DD tests of this interesting little drone. 👍🏼👍🏼

If I needed the 90° upward camera yes. Otherwise I'd go for an Autel or DJI equivalent 🍻

Unfortunatly the Gimbal is only a 2 Axis Gimbal....the yaw Axis is only stabilised by software.

Yes, parrot can improve on range especially in urban interference areas.

Your right David. I was thinking Max altitude was the the RTH hight setting. We'll be testing in the flight test soon 👍
It is now user-adjustable between 20-100 metres, there were several valuable fixes done in August and early September.
Yes, the recent update fixed the RTH issue. Bravo Parrot for listening and remedying the problem!

The phone holder/antenna doesn’t hold my Huawei well; it slips downwards and hits the sticks :(

Hello just got the Anafi bound & flys well but my range seems a bit limited get Green GPS but radar cone that denotes receivers direction & strength is red drones cone is green in semi urban area not had chance to fly rural can anyone give me some help or advice.
Make sure controller antenna is always pointed at the drone, try different WiFi channels in the settings 👍

Wow $800 and it comes with locked features. I was on their website and they don't advertise the follow me feature as being an add-on. I'm disappointed.

Wasn't a fan of the quirky Bebop (possibly because the two people I knew who had them were morons) but this looks like it's on a different level. Can't wait to see further DD tests of this interesting little drone. 👍🏼👍🏼
