AMAZING WIRELESS Microphone System: Electro-Voice RE3 UHF Wireless

- In this video, we are checking out the RE3 UHF Wireless system from electro-voice. This is a really cool wireless microphone system with a twist… one of the frequency bands you can get this in is in a rare frequency range, which means that it’s a very un-used frequency range. Plus the microphone sounds incredible, it has a very easy to use scan/sync setup, and the range was put to the test in an extreme condition at one of my shows, and it didn’t cut out once. Very cool system, and many thanks to Sweetwater for sending it over for the channel.

Hey Scott! Great video again as always. I had mentioned this mic to you when you did the Everse video. I repped EV for many years in the SE US and this mic was very popular when I started hauling it around to the music chains and commercial contractors. Glad you were able to feature it and educate people about the 6M band. That was the feature that sold the mic to my customers along with the EV history of wireless mic manufacturing keeping in mind that Telex was a part of EV and was one of the original wireless mic companies. Keep up the great work Scott! Oh, as I had also mentioned to you, I'm an Evolve 50 user too!
Gary, I tried to search for the comment that mentioned this system and for some reason I couldn’t find it… I did want to give you credit for bringing this to my attention, but for some reason youtube couldn’t find it. But I’m glad you commented! I really appreciate you sharing this product with me. I love EV stuff, and this one is no exception. Especially that 6m band. It’s super cool! Many thanks! 🤘🤘
Awesome tips as always. Thanks for sharing, Scott!
Thank you 😊
The lazy river mosh pit was epic, love it! LOL!
Dude it was so cool! Hahaha I wish I could have been in that 😂
I’ve sub’s this guy’s channel now, in my late 50’s but still obsessed with gear and this guy puts the info across very well with load s of great tips thrown in.
Thank you Stevie! 🤘
Excellent review! I really appreciate your gear reviews, I've been upgrading my gear (all getting pretty dated, and old school) with some of the gear you have reviewed. Thanks, keep up the great videos!
Thanks for watching! Glad to help 🤘
Indeed very cool to have a tool like this in the arsenal that is unlikely to have to fight for its space. Cheers!
💯 🤘
I’ve always liked EV for mikes. I have an ND 76.
Nice! I’ve never used their mics, but I’m a huge fan now
Hey Scott congrats on 50k well deserved 😎 This RE3 wireless system looks really good, shame it is not available in Europe, at least not at the time of writing. You've done quite a few very informative videos on wireless systems, mics, IEM's etc but one question not answered is that of traveling with wireless systems to different countries. You have mentioned that as you live in the US you have a certain frequency band (block) allocated. But what do you do when you need to play gigs outside of the US? Europe is a different frequency block allocation, the UK different again, and so on. Can you take your US wireless systems or would you need to rent locally in those countries outside of the US? Would be very helpful to do a video on touring with wireless systems and how you deal with licensing (or not) in those territories. Of course the reverse also applies if you live in Europe and need to play some gigs in the US.
Thanks! And in those situations you have to see what wireless works in the countries you are traveling to. I did a Europe tour back in 2019, and my sennheiser wasn’t allowed in any of the Germany stops, so I switched to a cheap 2.4ghz one.
Can you make a video about your UA-cam videos workflow? How do you manage to add so many extra GIFs, meme and animations? what software do you use? what camera? and so on and so forth? I'm really impressed every video of yours that I watch. keep them coming 👍
Thanks! I use Final Cut Pro, and plugins from motion vfx and pixel film studios. Follow Dylan John on UA-cam, he has great tutorials on Final Cut Pro that have helped me a lot 🤘
Good stuff Scott, can you do a video on the best wireless headset microphones for Guitar players? Thx
Thanks! And like the “Britney” mics? I haven’t looked into those too much to be honest. I usually just use handhelds
Another review video I've seen of this wireless mentions that it has 1/2 wave antennas as standard and thats what helps with range, he then, apparently, gets 502 feet range out of it before he gives up.
I like your channel, I'm learning a lot from it, as well as it giving me GAS for 1 of these or an SLX-D, even though i'm not much of a singer in my band 😂
1/2 wave and 1/4 wave antennas do not actually change the distance that the wireless can go 👍
@ScottUhlMusic I have no idea tbh, t's just something that got mentioned that I thought was interesting that I hadn't heard mentioned before 😀
Thanks for the correction
Hey Scott, I’m curious about a video about how you transport your gear. You seem to have a lot, but different use cases. I use my SUV and share transporting lights and bass subs with other band members to make it work. Just thought that might make for a good video.
Not a bad idea! I have no clue how everything fits in my little Kia sometimes lol 😂
Thanks great job in each video. I bought the SLXD-shure for your recommendation and I am so happy with it, between this ev and SLXD-SHURE which is the difference ? Both are good for you??..... I wanna buy the new everse 12 that the reason of my question....greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽 and blessings for you !!
They are definitely both great mics!
it sounds good, too! is this processed, or just straight from the receiver? i really wanted the PTU-1U to work out, but the handling noise, strong proximity, and not-great plosive rejection were all just a bummer
This was definitely processed with the same settings I use for my voice over stuff for UA-cam videos. But the mic definitely sounds great! That PTU1 is good for the price, but I know what you mean with the proximity issue. This one definitely does not have that issue 🤘
I saw the rackmount kit in the video. Do the antennas mount in the front?
Yup!
@ScottUhlMusic I have been looking for a wireless guitar system to replace my old PoS and i stumbled on your videos. Thanks for the info . I had 1 question though. I have the opportunity to get a NEW Shure qlxd14/85 lavalier AND the instrument cable for 760. I saw a previous vid where you recommend the Shure for vocals and the Sennheiser ew500 for instruments.
My question is, Is there any reason i should know about to get the sennheiser at full price over the Shure at that 750 ?????
Thanks! And Shure and sennheiser both make great wireless guitar stuff. You can’t go wrong with either. Hopefully EV makes a wireless guitar system at some point too!
How can one incorporate a vocal processor, a TC Helicon Voiceplay live for example.
You could connect the wireless receiver into your voicelive, just like you would a cable 🤘
Hey Scott, love your videos very informative, I have a question I own some of these EV mics and also a few Shure SLX series mic, my question is can I use all of them at the same time? Or should I stick to the same brand at different events? I have been told not to do that. My shures are set up as a network while my EVs aren’t. Thank you for your response
You definitely can mix and match brands 👍
So basically what should I keep away from my shure’s are lol G band should my EV’s be different?@@ScottUhlMusic
they need to make it usable with any microphone you would want to use
That’s not how wireless mics work man
Probaj da stavis Shure glavu na taj sistem i vidjet ces da radi
I've done sound at many of your venues here in Colorado. Are you still using this mic?
I use this one any time I have an event where there is a speaker now, it works very well. I just use my slxd personally; but both are great!
What software do you edit in?
I use Final Cut Pro with plugins from motionvfx 💪
Can you sync more than 1 handheld to the receiver on this thing?
You cannot use them at the same time, but as long as one is only on at a time yes
@@ScottUhlMusicthank you for the reply! Next question is… if I were to buy another set… would it be ok if I bought a 2nd set that was also the 6M band? I already have one… and like you I love that there is hardly any traffic. But by buying a second 6M would I create that traffic or is it ok to have two just on diff frequencies?
Will it pair with the EV 50M?
Like wirelessly connect to the speaker? No, but you can always plug it into the speaker via xlr
I though the J52 band from shure was in the 600 but it’s only 614-616. Not in the high 600’s like this system.
If it is, you can’t use it (at least in the USA). Only 653-663mhz is allowed, which is what’s really cool about this system
This is somewhat unrelated but i was currious if you have looked into the tiny sa ultra spectrum analyzer for doing frequency networking and intermod management for using with wireless work bench and lightstone software
What microphone headcaps are you using?
ND76 for this video
@@ScottUhlMusic nice EV!
Mozes i shure glavu da stavis na taj sistem. Probaj i javi
Lazy River Circle Pit 🤣🤣🤣
Dude it was awesome!!! Haha!
This mic sound better than most podcast mic
Looks exactly like Sennheiser?? Is it a ripoff or are they in Collab?
It’s not a rip off. Some mics look similar. EV has been making mics for a long time
