Black Beard Project sent me here: thank you very much for creating this nice piece of Damascus Steel.
Thank you so much for Watching
I just discovered the Bob Ross of blacksmithing.
Wow!! That is amazing looking Damascus! Like something out of Fantasy lore, Elder Scrolls😍
I would love to make knife out of this beautiful Damascus! As a veteran the battlefield is something that hits close to home!
You never know what the hot item is going to be at Big Dog Forge! Its always fun and interesting.
Hammer on Tim. I'll miss seeing your face in church but happy to see you forging.
True artistry at its finest.
That huge battle is very interesting. Thanks for sharing Tim
Everything about this video was totally rad!
You are my new old-man hero, you are cooler than I have ever been in my entire life!
Thanks and thanks for watching
The magic of damascus steel, no matter the pattern it always looks cool
That's some awesome looking damascus! Really does look like bones!
That looks so sweet. That is going to be one special knife. Great video.
I'd recommend contacting the channel Green Beetle to see if he would want to make a knife out of it. He's been known to experiment with canister damascus and knifemaking.
Yes he woud make a great video to👍
This is also what I thought!
Yup. My thoughts as well. He would be perfect. I can't wait to see what the layers look like.
Definitely pick Green Beetle!!!
That's a wicked pattern good job man
That's a pretty Damascus design, I must say.
Awesome pattern Tim! ❤️❤️⚒️⚒️😀😀
Thank you sir, it's always a pleasure to find new channels to subscribe to.
Especially those that show the skills of a true craftsman.
I'm sure that billet will make a very handsome blade.
I look forward to seeing many more videos 👍
Thank you so much for the kind words and thank you for watching.
A suggestion for getting the flux off....soak the welding rods in a bucket of water for a few hours. Take them out of the water and let them dry. The flux will slide right off. My helper has became an expert at this. Considering all the rain we have had...lol
Thanks Tim, that's an awesome pattern. And thanks for the link! A great read.
Wow! Not what I expected to see for a pattern. Very nice. Thanks for sharing with us.
Fantastic Tim it looks very fitting to its name!
I would love to duplicate this Damascus.. or forge a knife from it.. simply beautiful!
He just snapped that square tube clean!
It also has the look of bamboo, nice pattern Big Dog
Love that man's voice
Yes sir...that was some very amazing latticetype braided chunks of iron, and i am a beginner knife maker ...barely started guving it my full attention recently turning out throwing knoves from all sorts of metals ,and i would like a chance to test my mettle on something so beautiful...
It would be an honor.
Thank you for your share! Definitely interesting.
Thanks for the link to the AAAS article. That was a really great read.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I find this channel so relaxing to watch :) Thanks for all the great videos!
Thank you so much for the kind words.
And thanks for watching.
I've wondered about using welding rod in my Damascus, thank you for sharing. Awesome pattern, great job... as always
Thank you for watching.
I wouldn't mind adding my name to the massive list of people clamoring to make a knife out of that billet! I wouldn't mind sending you some images of my work if you're interested. I love your videos and I'd be honored to make a knife with something you made!
I thought this was going to somehow be a blade made from old bones haha. I was like "damn now that's gonna be one cursed blade."
That is an awesome look...Thanks
I always wondered how Damascus knives were made. Great video!❤
Cool idea! I need to start making canister Damascus.
I absolutely love that pattern
OMG LOVE THIS!! Flipping awesome!
Also Alec steel or Will shelter (on Alec steel channel) would do justice to this billet.
Tim, I really love how that billet turned out! That thing is awesome!!!! And the steel really does look like bones. I would love to see how that one turned out as a knife. I'm sure some lucky and skillful smith had a field day with that billet.
Wassup Tim. Wow really nice looking billet Really like this one...thx ...Paul
Great job Tim!
My father is a small town knife maker in Colorado and im sure he would love to make a knofe out of this gorgeous damascus!
Have u decided who will get to make the blade? Or how will u decide?
I love the association you made to the site on the Tollense river! The pattern really does evoke images of the long bones of the long-dead.
That braid reminded me of a curly Wurley and now I'm hungry
Awesome Damascus billet! I love the braided pattern
Happy accident? The Bob Ross of forging!
That was awesome looking.
Very cool Tim🔥🛠👍
Cool damascus pattern Tim
Dude have you tried reaching out to Alec Steele??? He specializes in Damascus and I think he’d love to do somethin with this
I agree! Alec Steele has done some amazing things with pattern welded materials.
Alex is good but his voice irritates the hell out of me and sadly can't watch his stuff, tried but alas nope and not much fun with the sound off, if you can get past that then he's worth cheking out
I 3rd this suggestion!
@@davidmurray9193 man that's so unfortunate. That young man is incredible at everything he does in his shop. It's a shame to let his voice keep you from his massive stores of skills and knowledge
I've never seen alec make a weapon with someone elses damascus.
Magnifique 🙊🤘🏼 bravo ! 👏🏼
I second a vote for Kyle Royer. His knives are stunning pieces.
Big Dog ! That is just one hell of a damascus blank. It will make a great ? . Great way to start my day bud. Thank you soooo much !
Love that pattern!!!
Amazing pattern Tim, if I was still making knives I would put my hand up. Thanks for sharing this process.
Gorgeous pattern.
Bone it is, great result!
And just a reminder I am on your list for Damascus
That's a great looking piece of Damascus. I would love to play around with a piece of that. Thanks for sharing. I miss you on Sunday mornings, but it's great that you're putting out more videos.
That turned out very pleasing to the eye. I rather like it and thing it would make for some very attractive blades.
Thank you.
Very cool looking steel
Awesome looking pattern
That would be cool to see you collaborate with alec steel to developer this pattern more. He does a lot of sectioning and combining damascus patterns.
I've seen this before and I always give you a thumbs up first thing,
I told you been busy, And miss your great work and vidios Sir .
Wishing you the best Sir.
Man I intend to make the grinder your videos shows the how to.
Thanks again and looking forward to seeing you Sir.Hope your family and doggie ok
I appreciate that!
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls
battlefield bone damasus....the new album by Ozzy Osbourne ! It really does look like graveyard bones, VERY COOL !!
Yes Im a knife maker I havent been able to forge just yet but soon perhaps. I do like your belt surface grinder setup
Wow, Very good
Oh man that would make such a cool pirate dagger, good job!
I like the Spurgeon quote.
Great to see you doing videos! Love that pattern. I am in the process of making you a little thing, then I will post my Swedish steel (tbh, more like iron) to you!
Awesome pattern i would make a Bowie knife myself out of that pattern thanks for the video
Write Alex Steele and see if he would want too...
I am a knife maker. I can't post a video right now because my computer hard drive died and with it went all of my editing software (I won't post a link to my channel. That would be cheap). BUT! I'd love to see YOU make the knife, Tim. I know you don't claim to be a knife maker, but you have done an outstanding job in the past. You'd do great!
Thank you.
And thanks for watching.
A very haunting and beautiful pattern. I’d love to see something like that on a greastword that has a sort of wavy edge similar to your braided metal.
That would be cool!
@@BIGDOGFORGE I’m not familiar with what a wavy edge on a blade is called but I remember it best on the soul reaver.
@@Odinfang its called a kris blade
@@jasonfish4065 thank you
This pattern is awesome! Great job! Greetings from Brazil!
Snapped that piece off for the canister with his bare hands!!
That looks cool Tim. Really looks like bones. I guess that’s why they call it that! Awesome!
Good to hear your voice again.....Keep'em coming..
Send it to Alec Steele, he'd probably be interested in making a period correct knife from it? 🧐
gousmc1983 what do you mean period correct?
I would send it to Will. He and Alec have parted ways and now has his own shop. He is more the knife maker than Alec was.
At 2:45 ...... nice free hand cutting technique there!
Thanks takes years of practice or a video editor.
Thanks for watching
That’s actually really cool
Interesting pattern, nice work
Wow, now that is a damascus pattern I would love to make a knife with
Cool new look Tim.
Mr. Tim, that is a beautiful pattern.
There is a Gentlemen named Cy Swan that is really good friends of Scott Wadsworth @ Essential Craftsman. Mr. Cy is a excellent Blade-smith, and Scott has a couple of videos with Mr. Cy making knives on his channel.
Nice one. Great to see some interesting canister damascus after a long time👍👍👍👍
I’d love to throw my hat in the ring to be able to make a blade from this billet! Unfortunately I don’t have a way of properly recording it to share in a video. Definitely need this recorded and shared for all of fan’s and supporters of your channel! Awesome stuff Tim keep it up💪🏻
I’ve been into Leathercraft for a while now and made dozens upon dozens of sheaths and now I’ve gotten into making knives and the sheathes. I’ve been a huge fan of your work for a while now and would consider it a great privilege to be able to use some of your Damascus to make a knife and then a custom sheath for it. And then maybe you and I could do some sort of giveaway with it once completed. Think about it and I would love to hear from you and make a go of it. Keep up the great work my friend....
Very cool pattern.
nice vid. very informative and its very easy to understand what you mean and want to say. good work
Shane Carter from Riverton, Utah would do some incredible things with that bullet. He was a contestant on Forged In Fire.
I think a couple scattered balls from some bearings to act like skulls would really improve the look. Got a very nice boney texture though. I like it.
That's to cool. Looks like broken bones. I'd love to have a knife made like that. Great video friend. 👍
Great to see that this lovely piece is Damascus went to Black Beard, he's turned it in to a lovely knife.
im a norwegian blacksmith and id love to try to forge a nice little knife :3
That billet is really nice, id make a beauty from something like that. Greetings from Deutschland.
Checkout Blackbeard Projects I sent it to him.
another idea
take two flat hard steels
cut them up in a jigsaw pattern
then swap the pieces around as you restack them in a canoe cannister and forge them back together.
Jigsaw Damascus! 😁
I like it!
I wish that I had your talent.. I'm still learning the whole process of blacksmithing
Amazing pattern! Also an amazingly informative video in several aspects, to many the list. thanks to tim
Interesting pattern, thoroughly enjoyed your video again, can't wait to see the knife that comes from it, regards from your friend in Australia.
