Ben's bicycle analysis and reviews are very informative. I really enjoy his laid back, hype-free approach. It feels like a relaxing post-ride nerdy bike chat in the garage while drinking a cold beer... or two 🍻
Extremely timely video! I’ve been analyzing which ONE bike to get for the rest of my life (I’m a 50 year old non-racer) for a while now, and nothing seemed to fit my design brief - Endurance geometry, 40mm tire clearance with room for 2x Rival AXS, downtube storage, and mounts for a top tube bag - until the updated RoadMachine came out! I even posted a comment on another of your vids recently that this unicorn didn’t seem to exist! Now I’ve found it! Wish you’d tried 40c tires on it though.
Great shoot location with the Flatirons in the background, I need to find a way to move back to Colorado. This BMC is on my short list for upgrading from my Ribble whenever they start selling the new bike as just a frameset.
I currently ride an older version of this bike, 2018. One thing you forgot to mention is that the current 2024 Roadmachine now will handle 40mm tires. Mine will only handle 32mm and very tight. Just as Ben Delany said, the bike disappears below you and is comfortable and performs well. I have had mine for the past 6 years and cannot wait to get my hands on another frame. With me, the bike just fits and functions exceptionally well. It is available in a frame only for $2000 to build up . I highly recommend it!!! You can still get the bike to run mechanical as well. they have options that are semi integrated and they worked really well, just like mine.
@kenh.3857 - where are you finding BMC Roadmachine framesets? BMC’s website lists these framesets as sold out for the current model year. BMC also informed me that they will not be making RM framesets available for folks like you and me to build up in 2025.
Bet it feels good to be out riding again Ben, hoping the shoulder is painfree. The Roadmachine looks amazing in that paint, sure it rides great too albeit for the stem I'm not sure the 110mm is right for me.
Seems like a good allround bike. Responsive but not nervous. Room for 38 mm slicks. A bit higher position. I got there with a gravel bike but considered a Bianchi Aria if I could have fitted 38 mm slicks on it. Good to see you back-on-the-bike!
Yeah, I screwed up. I managed to record *without turning on the mic clipped to my jersey* so that sound from the camera was garbage. It is my daughter 18th birthday this weekend so I didn’t have time to re-record. So, I just salvaged the audio as best as I could with Adobe. Sorry about that!
Nice one! So you’d pick this one over the Enve Fray? If I had the funds to spare, I’d likely replace my Roadmachine 2020 with this one. Luckily, the previous iteration still works nicely, so I’m good. For now.
Dude great review! Love the all road/endurance direction trends. Would be great to hear your thoughts and possible review of the Cube Nu Road C62 pro. Cheers to a rapid recovery!
Great review! Would have loved to see you review with wider tires or second set of wheels/tires. Since I ride about 90/10 road to gravel, interested in getting an all road bike instead of dedicated gravel rig
Hey Ben. Thanks for the great content! Do you plan to release a review on the Rocky Mountain Solo I've seen in the background in some of your videos? Thanks!!
I don't think they will while they're flying off the shelves. We (the consumer) are to blame. Curse our love of being. What I'd love to see is more reviews bikes in the $3k-$5k range. And I say that as the owner of a BMC Teamachine SLR01.
Looks like a great, versatile bike. I do 3-4 races a year, just to give me some motivation to train harder. Can you race on it? I mean 100-200km long races and not been let down by the bike? I like the geometry as well.
For that price bikes should come with full PPF from the factory. It pretty amazing when a seasoned expert like yourself can't reason why bikes cost so much now. I would hope I at least get a free BMC hat with the purchase.
We run a BMC rental centre in the Sierra Nevadas, Spain. We have yet to experience the issue with the bolts on the stem/handlebars. With the bolt cover on the stem, generally this pops off if you haven't placed it in correctly, it's a pretty snug fit to get out. For this bike, I like the look of the light, but the run time is way to low and if you don't have the light in place it really takes away from the aesthetics of the bike.
Is the Canyon Grail V2 the ultimate endurance bike? Has 42mm clearance and more race geometry with longer each and lower stack than this BMC. Plus you can tackle most gravel terrains on it
I have the Fray and would buy it again. UDH and T-47 BB. I actually built mine with SRAM Red XPLR 13 speed and Red shifters/calipers. I run Conti 5000 TR in 32mm on Industry Nine AR 40 wheels. Great bike!
Something also to note - BMC’s after sales service in North America is shameful. A friend bought their Amp X Roadmachine, the website listed the small parts as a derailleur hanger that wasn’t the right one. BMC said, too bad - we’ve fixed the website, but not our problem you have the wrong hanger. Also, their stock D shaped seatpost had a fitment issue with an SMP saddle where the regular 2 bolt angle adjustment would not allow the saddle to be level. Again, they tossed up their hands on that one and said - try a different saddle. Pretty pathetic when you drop $15k on a bike
Customer service should be job #1, no matter how much the bike costs. JFC, what would it have cost them to just send the customer what he wanted/needed? OTOH, don't understand the SMP issue, I ride 'em and have never had a an issue replacing whatever was on the seatpost before with SMP.
You need to find a solid dealer and stop dealing directly with BMC. I deal with a dealership in the U.S. who has shipped BMC frames and parts to me on three continents. They are spectacular.
top notch that BMC for all road, I could agree about the test ride ... who knows maybe in the future, seems reasonable geometry and huge range of options to enjoy the ride every day no matter the terrain. ( see what I did there)

You should've put some 40c tires like P Zero Race TLR. That'd be interesting demonstration for tire clerance.
The most detailed and entertaining bike videos on here. Thanks!
Love your reviews, Ben! Happy BMC Kaius owner here. Glad to see you’re on the mend…
Good to see you back on the bike again🎉

Love your channel, happy thanksgiving.
Best bike I’ve owned. Compliments the TeamMachine perfectly, particularly as an everyday/training bike.

Is it me or is there something strange with the sound?
It’s you
Not just you, it's glitching a bit
Sounds like talking during a transdimensional jump in Star Trek 🛸

@@TheRidewithBenDelaney Happy 18th Birthday to your daughter! Mr. Delaney, Enve Fray vs BMC Roadmachine 01?
Great review Ben. Glad to see your back in the saddle👍
Good to see Ben back on two wheels!
How would this compare to other allroad bikes like the Enve Fray or Giant Defy?
Nice one! So you’d pick this one over the Enve Fray?
If I had the funds to spare, I’d likely replace my Roadmachine 2020 with this one. Luckily, the previous iteration still works nicely, so I’m good. For now.
It’s a nice bike, im tempted to buy Kaius UDH frameset and build it 1x roadbike
I've been interested in this since the launch. I'm even more interested now.
If I could justify and afford another bike, this would be it!
Dude great review!

Is the Abe Lincoln beard to match the top hat steerer?

Nice review. I'm sorry, but I hope bike prices crater. 10-15K bikes are absolutely insane and insulting.

Thank you for a nice review. If you had to choose the road-machine or the crux for a road race, which would you choose?
Wonder if BMC will have a frameset option the future?
Hello from Honduras!!It happens to you is that the Coros Dura is a little loose on the Garmin mounts?? Saludos
Some weird things with your audio at 2:30 ish in your studio/shop or just me? great video as always ben

1. Insanely expensive
2. PF 86 bottom bracket is a problem for SRAM Dub and 30mm cranksets. Very compromised bearing loads.
3. Otherwise - I love it!

My poor man sounds like he‘s permanently one second away from crying
A very nice yet rather conservative endurance road bike. …However, this fuzzy ‘Allroad' category definitely needs further examination…
Just get the aspero... it's aero too!
Really should’ve used UDH
The new Cannondale Synapse has a single battery that controls light and shifting with one central battery in the downtube for 2025

Top hat! 🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩 is all I see 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
This BMC or Roubaix SL8 is all you need for all-road/gravel!
Two water bottle 😮 what's this bike packing 😅
$13k for a road bike with 2nd tier group set!
There's no way I can afford this.
Information is valuable and that’s your dream job but I sense a lack of enthusiasm or maybe you’re tired. You usually sound a bit more upbeat.
Ridiculous price
Meh
Nothing against the review, but when you said it is 40mm width for all, BMC lost me there.
Absolutely, tops should be 36cm at the most, 40 is not aero
