"Now I can hear Courtney." First, expect to hear different sides of Courtney's voice sometimes, especially in the pre-2020 songs. She has a wide range but these days chooses to sit in the ones you're more familiar with (you've heard Mara Effect part 3 but parts 1 and 2 will give you a much higher register Courtney in portions of both songs). Second, I've noticed that the earlier more progressive Spiritbox songs had a habit of pushing the guitars louder than the songs do now. So, sometimes Courtney sits a bit back on the mix. Third, in the end, going into a Spiritbox song without preconceived notions of what you're going to get is best. And I suspect the next album is going to give you variations on this.

I'm glad you liked it man. Such a beautiful song. Yes, this is Courtney showcasing her many different vocal styles. Plus, that ending is one of the best things I've ever heard. Courtney could be a choir all by herself. So good.

@@HIM_066xMusicReactions Well, then you should listen to Mara Effect parts 1 and 2 (or just watch them perform all 3 parts live, they have a video for that).
They were on an absolute shoestring at the time this was recorded. Probably just the best production they could afford.

Spiritbox used to be more Prog Metal than Modern Metal/Metalcore. No matter what they are classified as it's still awesomesauce!

She still sounds the same to me!
In regards to her vocals, in particular her screams seeming to be set back a bit, that was most likely a production quality issue. Although, i have heard a lot of reactors mention that her vocals on their better produced later and newer material seemed to sit too far back in the mix and it's hard sometimes to understand over the instrumentation. The other thing is that Mike likes to use a lot of ambience in the background of their songs, which i love to be honest. So, that is part of why that may be as well. Mike has also said that when they first formed the band, he would write and record all the instrumentation, give it to Courtney, and basically tell her, "Good luck". lol! They have since changed that by Her and Mike lining up the tone and pitch of her voice with the instrumentation, which has helped their songs flow much better.
