I watched this video for a while to practice my spiking skills and now I am a team captain for my high school VB Team. This has made me improved my techniques so much. Looking forward to college.
Step 1: Build momentum, Arms forward Step 2: Accelerate, Arms swing back, Palms up Step 3: Steps & close to convert forward energy to vertical Step 4: Arms swing up with jump for increase vertical energy 5. Hitting arm in ready position, opposite arm reach high 6. Use core muscle and shoulder rotation transfer power to the hit 7. Swing through the ball
First goosebumps watching the slow motion approach and follow through and then simply at awe at how good the whole package was in real time. Absolutely a brilliant spike🤯🙌
Funny story One time I accidentally forgot to spike cross court and the blockers blocked it back into our court and we didn't get to the ball in time. Point lost. You see, normal people would think "I should spike cross court next time". Me: "challenge accepted." Next time it was my spike, I did it even harder and the ball went through their hands and we got the point. Call that stupid or proud, but one thing's certain. It felt good to hit the ball so hard it went through the blockers' hands xD
***** Basically you hit it diagonally, and it should land on the opposite side of where you are. If you hit it straight, it's generally easier for blockers to block it (hence why it was stupid/stubborn of me to hit into their hands), but if you hit it 'cross court'/diagonally, the ball is more likely to go past their hands, and even if they do contact it, it will still come off their hands at an awkward angle and maybe go out. So if you're in position 4 (top left) you should aim for the opposition who's in your position on the other side. Sorry this was long.
Just keep hitting and playing volleyball as much as possible even if its slow rally games with random people at the beach it all helps your game, really work on your aggressiveness towards the ball on the approach, get there as quick as the ball will let you. I have found personally that learning to lay setter really helps with hitting because you gain an understanding of the angles of a set. These are just a few things that have helped me personally.
OMG, thanks this was exactly the vid i was looking for, because of u i managed to spike and also became the main spiker. Im only 13 playing in school team as center spiker
"closing the body" means that you do this whole motion simultaneously with your back. As if you lean forward upon the ball. This way all your muscles and body weight help for a more powerful spike, but the arm and hand are most important as they make it more precise and explosive. If you have a strong back and shoulder, but a slow arm, it will all be in vain. That's why learning to keep the arm relaxed until the very last moment is most important
I answered a request, not an insult :-) A picture is no problem and if you really need I can make it. But in simple it is written in my first comment on a tape. Regarding to your other questions, I think the work of his body in the air is for such a demonstration more than enough. He has the ball above and before his head. This is a basic rule the spiker should follow it to see the blocks. Here are no blocks...
+Blue Sapphires I never played volleyball before and I'm planning on it thx to haikyuu. My school will have volleyball in term 2 and it's only term 1 right now which sucks but oh well. Also I'm just practicing a jump serve lol
+Rolling Apples Yep thanx to Haikyuu, I started volleyball (and also I had to start with a sport)! Its better than I thought actualy X3... I realy love it. So just do it, let your dreams come true!!
Imported this machine from the US. We have used it our Volleyball program. We have about 20 teams in our program. It takes a lot of space in our shed and takes about 10 minutes to wheel out and set-up and about the same to pack up. It's a great machine to teach kids how to jump! However, before buying, understand that teaching kids how to hit an isolated ball is something you don't want players to become over-reliant on. As a result, the machine is a piece of equipment that for several thousand dollars, is used very sparingly. As the AcuSpike suggest, it can definitely be used to practice other skills, such as blocking. However, it must be said that it takes too long to set up and pack up for a 15-20minute blocking drill. It's been great for first-year player Volleyball clinics, however we have not used it for anything else, due to the impracticality.
when he does that it turns his body towards the setter, which is good because as you face forward to hit it adds more momentum to your swing, it only sticks out to people because he does it off of his jump while others bodies are towards the setter when they begin there whole form.
i see it too and i didn't notice it until i read your comment. I dont know if it helps with more explosive force but I do that when I hit, I also wave before I hit.
It's about swinging the RELAXED arm as fast as you can until the very last moment prior to the impact with the ball. The impact should, of course, be made with a firm and not relaxed HAND. If possible (a well-set ball) the arm should be straight and perfectly extended. After impact, you should "dig" with your hand, so that you curve the ball downwards to the court. so once again - you keep a relaxed arm while swinging (for maximum velocity), then you make a firm hand and hit downwards (fingers
Tips to new players: look at the direction where his hand is pointing when he's in the air with his right arm ready to swing. Palm must be facing or slightly facing towards the ball before hitting. If you point your palm behind you first and then swing forward, you're gonna risk injuring your shoulder. Keep this in mind.
why's he hitting on a girls net? Also his first plant foot is off. He's losing a lot more power by the space between his feet and his knees knocking. He'll have knee problems when he's older
Natashya Ntuk no it's rediculous. Don't post a video of how to do something if you aren't going to use proper regulations. Brb bout to make a how to dunk video in my bedroom on a closet door hoop.
you first need to check what height you can hit the ball with jump. once you are confident you know, it's a matter of getting to the ball when it's at that height. that will change according to set. i found it's harder to adapt to different height of ball running to the same point - instead force yourself to run and jump where the ball will be at your desired height. if it's impossible, ask for higher set to the setter
Not really, he should fold up his left leg more for step 2 in order to accelerate even more. Also the angle of his elbow is too large in the build up towards the swing.
TOMcatSUD Well, don't worry. Took me a lot of time (and even more of my trainer's patience) to get it right too. But you'll really notice the difference when you're there :)
@@user-sz6jl9ls8n how do you guys hit the ball strongly with the whole palm or whole hand? it hurts my hand/fingers/wrist pretty much everythin when i do, unless i hit it with my heel of palm first but most ppl say that is bad and u dont have good control. am i just weak or is it bad technique.
@Al Din Baluyot Hey man, I'm good thanks, just focusing on art and games and a little bit of homework. I took volleyball as a class and maybe it is because I have a bit of carpel tunnel or the fact that I am weak but i never could hit it that well, but haven't played it since then, still a fan of the sport and waiting on haikyuu to come back.
You shouldn't think of that anyway. Just relax the body and concentrate on the feet while jumping. It will come naturally. Also, when you hit, make sure your arm is completely relaxed while it swings. In the very last moment prior to hitting the ball, you should "make your hand hard", but only the hand, and then curve the ball downwards. That's all you should be focusing on.
for outside and right side hitters, you're supposed to turn the foot closest to the net inward so that your shoulders face the far corner of the other side of the net, that way you can hit wherever you want on the court without much loss in power. i don't think people normally pivot their foot when its on the floor, usually they just turn their foot as they're about to plant their feet to jump. i don't know how middle hitters would do it, but i'd assume they do
what is the advantages & Disadvantages of "hanging on the air then hit a ball" Vs "hit the ball right away (no hang time)? which way is better? (Assume the person has the ability to jump high & hang time)
in this clip the guy who is hitting the ball can get his angle twisted any time coz while jumping for a spike foot ankle should be staright or pointing towards frount of the player
I think, it depend on your height and how high you could jump, because I'm very good at volleyball and can hit but if the net is to high then I can't hit as well. For a 5'6 I'm good.
Okay, but me and my sister we're having an arguement earlier and she said that her teacher told her specifically to not smack the volleyball open palmed. Now I thought that you were supposed to spike it with your open hand, because in Haikyuu, Hinata looks like he has his hand spread out, and he's about to smack it when he spikes the ball. And one time the camera panned down to his hand after he spiked the ball, and his entire hand was red. He also told Asahi once that when he spikes the ball, his hand gets a sting, and he loves it. So I'm just very confused now. Please answer my questions. Your friend, Amatuer Volleyball player.
Luqman Harith i never played with a setter and plus i started playing volleyball about two weeks ago and i dont know how to start spiking except practicing spiking but when i practice it goes all over the place
Fabulus Chicken focus and motivation just keep that in mind...well you know what? I just started too but I sometime missed where I wanted the ball to go...what makes me want to focus it...remember what's your GOAL is! GD luck
At first I was like where is the ball coming from 😂
Sameeeee

Me too bro
From what I've learned, I think it helps you to be able to go nearly straight up instead of flying forward into the net.
its better for beach, but a purely vertical jump like that leads to less power put into the ball
@@whoop8034 Absoultely i tried both and like you said vertical is more for beach VB than Court.

Sweet hits dude. I remember the days in grade 7 when I played on a 5 foot net...
bruh my coach made us play on 8 foot volleyball nets is grade 7
that is a nifty contraption you got there! i want one!
You know it's real when the shirt goes up in the back
I never knew your arms swinging that far would help you so much. Going to try it next time I practice.

What's going on with his ankle? Looks like he could get an injury from bending it like that
@Benjamin Yasaba élève at 0:44 though he could definitely sprain an ankle easily

how do you jump this high? please teach me...
