- Another storm has come whistling through South East Scotland and the Lynsey B has been tied up in the harbour.
With the storm now over Baz heads out to check his creels and he comes across a new phenomenon that many fishermen along the Firth of Forth and North Sea have been coming across and that is berried hens with orange eggs (unfertilised eggs). It's something that the older fishermen have never come across and it has only been recently reported since the new offshore wind farm has been built. Is there a connection?

Hi Barry another super vlog. Seasons greetings to you and your family. I would get together with the other boats and keep a log of how just how many orange egg lobsters and map where they are (roughly). Then issue a brief report to those that matter, We both know nothing will come of it but at least in the future if it comes up you can say “I told you so”. It also keeps em on their toes and may give them something to think about instead of bothering you all. Ah well keep up the good work..

As you've seen we've got lots of pots and all different types.
The idea was to have a various amount and type to see which one fishes better, so we can produce the best creel for the least cost, and by the looks of things their parolus are winning, but! The smaller single eye'd parouls are a close 2nd, so I think I'll be making them for our future creels, especially now I'm passed the 50 mark on God's green earth 🙈🤯🤪🤪🤪😝😝🤣🤣🤣

Morning guys, the local fishermen have been saying they're pulling strings of 100 pots and getting about 16 crab atm, they are really struggling.

Hi Baz, Orange eggs come from females who haven't had a chance to mate but lay their eggs anyway. Eventually the unfertilized eggs turn orange and die.

That's exactly our thoughts, but we have NEVER seen this on our coast before, and I've fished here most of my life🤯😱
It's definitely something we should document, we don't want this starting a trend or the lobster fleet could be in REAL trouble. 😬😬😬😬🙈🙈🙈🙈
