Gloryhammer does all concept albums. Picture each album as a book and each song as a chapter in said book. The next song on this album is hoot's force which immediately takes place after this one chronologically, and is one of the best songs along with this one. Other notably good songs are the unicorn invasion of Dundee and rise of the chaos wizards. Certainly a rabbit hole worth exploring.
His voice is indeed fantastic. Every one of the songs he sings feel so much different from typical metal singers to me. Which drew me in. Glad you liked it so much.
So yes, there is a large rabbit hole with these guys. They have 4 albums (you've only reacted to songs from their third one.) It follows one long ongoing story. They've actually only been doing this ainc ethe early-mid 2010s. The 1992 line is in reference to their second album Space 1992: Rise of the Chaos Wizards. Finally, if you want to go through this story in order (which you definitely would want to) the order of albums goes like this: 1: Tales From the Kingdom of Fife. 2: Space 1992: Rise of the Chaos Wizards. 3: Legends from Beyond the Galactic Terrorvortex. 4: Return to the Kingdom of Fife. Finally, i doubt you'll get these to 300 likes in a somewhat reasonable amount of time. While this band is fantastic, they are incredibly underrated and deserve more attention.
Gloryhammer! Gloriously goofy Power Metal cheese! Edit: Grail Knights (another Power Metal band under Napalm Records) has a song called 'Pumping Iron Power' that features Joachim Broden from Sabaton. The official video is designed to look like a 1980s toy commercial, and it's PERFECT. 🤘😆🤘
If memory serves me correctly the evil wizard, clock keyboardist is also the singer from Alestorm, if I'm wrong please correct me. Also, I live within sight of Dundee in Scotland.
So... welcome to the Gloryhammer rabbit hole, indeed. 😄👍 There are 4 albums, and each one tells a story that carries on from the others. Listening to them in chronological order is like matching a movie series straight through. The first one is like more medieval-esqe in nature, than the next two are more sci-fi-ish, as you've seen here, than the next one is kind of a combo of them all, but they all follow the same storyline too. I mean, even this explanation here is just scratching the surface, so please do react to morw Gloryhammer, my man. I promise, you will not regret it one bit.
Iirc in the middle ages a large hammer like this would be called a maul. Ofc they were wooden for weight reasons. A warhammer is a small hammer, think of a modern hammerhead with a longer handle and a prybar/nail puller part sharpened into a beak
Thor's hammer might resemble a warhammer or a mace, but the general consensus is that it's a weapon with mystical and magical properties looking like a hammer. I love this power metal song.
I think the closest we have to a giant circular gesture organ / piano would be the theremin, which is a very, very interesting instrument you should look into :3c Kind of more an electric, gestural violin-harp, but as good as we're getting until VR improves lol
@@jonathangeronimo733 “official” yeah right. Christopher Bowes is the one who’s been writing the story. Just cause Thomas Winkler says its a continuation doesn’t mean I’ll give a shit. It’s Bowes’s character. And if I remember correctly, Winkler was going behind GH’s back and trying to trademark the band name in England? It’s been a bit since I cared what was up with Winkler.
@@paledivineas far as the credits go, Bowes and Winkler co-wrote the story. Winkler also invented the look of Angus (green armor) and impersonated the role since the start hence why I see him as the only legitimate Angus. The new guy even copies the movements and speeches in live shows.
I've done a 180 on Gloryhammer over the years. I was a power metal purist where sincere respect for the artform be it Blind Guardian or Sabaton was the only way and Gloryhammer was self-parody and cheesy. After listening to a few songs like Angus McFife and Hootsforce, and not taking life so seriously anymore,, BRING ON THE CHEESY!
keep reacting to gloryhammer because is a very underated band that is awesome!!. i recomend one of the Best songs of this band, it's called "rise of the chaos wizards'
Thor's hammer mjolnir probably isn't a battle hammer since you have to go up too close to your enemy... I'm over thinking this. Fellow power metal nerd here lol. It reminds me of Kamelot, they're under napalm too I believe.
Unfortunately the legendary singer Angus McFife (Tom) has left Gloryhammer and formed his own power metal band Angus McSix. Both bands are releasing new music which is great however to me personally Gloryhammer was always about Tom's vocal and entertainment performance so I prefer his new stuff more.
Correction: He was fired by the band/Bowes, by text message, during an ongoing tour. Add to that the other controversies and it's clear there's no Glory left in Gloryhammer anymore, they don't deserve a dime.
@@PeTTs0n88Apparently Tomas was making money outside the band using Angus' name and tried to get the copyright of the name. People tend to forget that Gloryhammer is from the start Bowes' side project, not Tomas'. And if someone was messing with my project, I wouldn't be happy. But it was not the best way to handle it. Anyway I'm not on anyone's side. Both parties are not completely white and we don't know everything. Ultimately, they both lost their glory and are reclaiming it. They both make amazing songs.
@@chabaloo8855 The way of handling it was appalling, there's no way around that. And the group conversations in the band brought to light around the same time (that Winkler weren't a part of either) definitely showcases the mentality of Bowes & Co. No, it's not black and white, and it can definitely be a legal mess who "owns" the persona of Angus McFife. Doesn't change that Bowes and Gloryhammer acted *really* shitty, and they do not deserve to be defended for it.

I saw these guys live in January in Norway. Seeing this song live has everyone banging their heads in a different way ❤❤❤

There's now even a fifth from the singer, Angus McSix. It tells the saga of Angus McFife who died and came back one better

Closest thing to their keyboard is a thing called PianoArc
Comment for the ol Algorithm, I’m a GloryHammer freak man, I listen to all 4 albums like every day while I work 💀
There is now Angus McSix with the official continuation of the story from the third album.

try this song : GLORYHAMMER - Universe On Fire (Official Lyric Video) | Napalm Records
I second this recommendation, Universe on Fire is a musical masterpiece.
Ha❤

Oh, there is plenty of lore, and as to the 1992 thing, that's in universe, not real life.

If you can please do an album video or something and begin from the first album.
sadly, angus aka Thomas winker is no longer IN this band. he has is own now and has new name Angus Mic six you check his new group and songs out.
When you see a real Warhammer after seeing the video game version, it's kinda underwhelming hehehe
