- I built this trike last year and never really got the chance to ride it. Now there is enough snow to do so, and it rips! Its a bit violent and doesn't run perfect but its so much fun. Mustie1 even stops by for a visit with his new snow toy. Enjoy! Link to full build • Building a crazy trike...

The chain guard and the back frame, yes. It looked like a lot of fun, I've done plenty of things like that, I'm my own wort enemy sometimes 🙂
It needs a trip to Mustie's healing rack.
30 years ago, my friend made a VW trike and 'altered' it for winter use. (Never actually made it on the road) It didn't have tracks just paddle/mud tires. he ended up adding V-wings to the front ski starting about 1/3 from the front to the back. Made a big difference in lift and turning. Don't know if that would help, but worth some thought.J.W.
The way this thing was running your lucky the motor didn’t blow. Take inside to work on changing oil,spark plugs and give full tune-up. 😯

Might want to think about putting a dual ski set up on the front. That would help the front float over the snow rather than digging in.
Was gonna suggest the same thing.
Either that or find a much wider single ski, that may not take as much modification.

Well I gotta say this is a very cool machine even if it's temperamental and doesn't like the fresh deeper snow. Once it get running better it'll be more fun I think and not just a struggle IMHO anyway LOL. I love the Dad jokes and you laugh and smile is infectious! Thanks! Subbed!

Love Mustie's channel, I saw his video of the day he stopped over. I lost a Ford Bronco II because of a transmission cooler line leak, do get that fixed.
Send it over to mustie 1 shop to be repaired I want to see some top end. Moving on to the rare Porsche

Deep snow it'd probably need wider tracks plus wider front ski, but may just be impossible. Snowmobiles have it right down the middle for a good reason lol

Man, snow looks awesome but brutal.
It might be more practical to put wheels on it and use it in the summertime. The track system seems too small for the weight of the vehicle. If you're able to upgrade this to a bigger track system then it may work better.
It started out as a motorcycle trike, so he could convert it back for summer use.
I thank you need a wider front ski. That one is too narrow to get it up on top of the snow.

Could be completely wrong about this but i think the tracks are reversed. the rase is supposed to be in the front for crawling over obstacles. just like a tank. That's why it did better in reverse

A wider front ski with Skeg would help. Battery disconnect and Don't Overfil the Oil. Wipe the dipstick before checking.

best thing is to upgrade to electronic ignition and never have to worry about spark again. Getting stuck, needs bigger ski, twice that size.
It might need individual rear brakes for cornering tight.

Needs a wheel on the front instead of a SKI!! that way when spring/summer comes you can ride it then too!!

That style of track is no good in any deep show, especially wet snow and they take a lot of power to turn. I wanted a set for my atv and after trying a new demo atv with a set on I quickly changed my mind for many reasons. Since then I saw many people stuck or having a hard time with them.
You would be better off using two identical short track snow machine tracks, it would take some time to build but would be much better.
And as others mentioned a wider and longer ski would help a lot.
The heads need retorqued.
And adjust the valves. The heads get loose after higher miles or higher RPMs
