    Do you think this spell could make a comeback? I mean aslong as there was someone in Blizzard around to try to balance it again

      It would need a low limit of max supply dragged in or have it cheap and only affect single units.

      Being able to so easily clump enemy units combined with basically any sort of splash damage means that such an ability will always be powerful, even if it was limited in some way. But at the same time things like Archon Toilets are so entertaining to watch so it would be cool to see, since time warp really doesn't have the presence like Vortex

      The obvious solution would be to spit units out spread out from each other, maybe even sling them much farther away. It's literally *meant* to be an army crippling and non-damaging destructive ability, the splash damage is the only thing they wanted to mitigate and they never even tried that.

    They could have at least brought this back for co-op/campaign mode. They didn't even do that. Blizzard doesn't know how to be fun sometimes-so obsessed with balance they forget about that.

      The spell makes no sense at all it’s a good thing they removed it from the game aside from the coop commander

      Yeah on AI the vortex is pretty much useless, it grabs a few units and thats it.

      The Tal'Darim mothership in LotV has it and Vorazun has it as top bar in coop

    I'm a Zerg player, and only Zerg. Sometimes Protoss builds are kinda insane, and I feel like wtf, but nothing to the level of imbalance as Terran.
    But over the last few patches, just seems that Protoss are continually getting the short end of the stick. They should definitely bring Vortex back in some form.
    The problem I'm seeing with the spell was it was instantaneous. It should be like an actual vortex, where it takes time to form. There should be some warning, the way Ravager biles give warning.
    Like maybe air/ground distortion. And then only a small range perhaps 1.5 gets immediately sucked in. The outer radii kinda like the real lip of a black hole is escapable, but only by units who's speeds are above a certain range. So like cracklings and stim'd marines perhaps. Everything else is slowed down or below a certain walk speed get sucked in as well. I'm ok with full vortex range as 3-4.
    The finality is probably the greatest issue, where Protoss planted their archons in wait for the aftermath. I'd suggest the units get SCATTERED upon exit of the vortex. Much like a tornado doesn't just die, it QUELLS. If a tornado instantly died, then things would just drop down. But it doesn't happen like that, it quells, hence things get thrown around. Especially when space-time just got bent, you can't expect everything to all lay together.
    So I'd say the scatter of ALL units, friendly and enemy, would get scattered within a radius of 6 or 7. RANDOM. This would neutralize any archon toilets, and EVERYONE would be in scramble point, and Protoss could also not precisely plan their post-Vortex attacks. As the vortex was originally simply meant to deal with mass armies and temporarily disable a chunk, this will have served it's purpose.
    Immunity should remain for 2-3 seconds, the lore could be everyone's dazed and confused, and takes a bit to gather their senses together.
    Team strat would definitely change so you'd have to weary about getting your own allies in the vortex too, where Terran is especially dependent on their death balls, and can't afford scattering.
    The cast is too cheap. I didn't know it was 100. I thought it was one time with a cooldown. At the very least, Vortex should be 125/200.
    I don't play Protoss. But my strongest armies against them are mostly mass muties, or broodlords, or assisted lurkers. The attack numbers are too much for them to deal with outside of storm. A return of Vortex would definitely help stunt these plays, and require better devised attacks.

    I still believe the vortex wasn't that big of an issue. Terrans have the ghost to counter it in the late game while zergs have infestors with neural parasite to take control of the mothership and waste the energy.
    In nowadays StarCraft zergs even have the Viper to counter the unit. I would love to see it make a return

    currently the mothership does not even represent an option in the composition in the protoss army, literally I think that the referee unit would be much better in Sc 2; It's a shame really, I liked the core unit but it was also removed.

    Awsome video and I was always wondering about the archon toilet! My only feedback on the video, the narrator talks a bit too slow. Playing the video with 1.1 playback speed is actually perfect, try it out

    It prolly had to be removed or somehow hvily nerfed, but damn it looked cool:).And nowadys the mothership is a bit of ajoke really... I yeah it can still be usefull, but its not a unit that anyone fears, that represents power.... At least looking at that history i can unsterstand why Protoss was nerfed so hard trough the years till now.

    they should have kept it, but made it more expensive to research, require longer charge up time, and usable by only one mothership at a time.

      Brood lord infestor with old fungal was the most complained about composition in WoL :p

    Blizzard made protoss imba at the end of HOTS so all protosses buy LOTV like dumbfucks with that old tale of "Micro oportunities" on the lotv presentation and then, made zerg absolutely imba for call those disgusted zergs to pay for LOTV.
    Terrans all knew that cry on forums would work on blizzard balance team to buff terrans.
