Unfortunately, the rates on this farm are pretty bad in 1.19. I built the full 30 portal farm with the glass skirt and it only spawns ~3-5 ghasts/min. Platforms are fully lit up, tops of portals are slabbed, it just seems like this farm needs to be reworked for 1.19. EDIT: Also, somehow Skeletons continue to spawn with light levels over the whole platforms at 12 or higher. EDIT 2: So I have managed to massively improve the spawn rates, after replacing the spawning platforms with a checkerboard pattern of blocks and light blocks (I.E. Glowstone or Shroomlights) that seems to have cut down on the skeleton spawns (they are still spawning, but I have no idea how) and increased the Ghast spawns, the farm still isn't operating at the levels stated in the video, but it is much more serviceable now for 1.19. ALSO, note to self, do not go into the portal while the farm is running, ghasts will escape when you go back to the AFK spot portal.
I tried building the farm like this and after checking light levels it seems there are still some spots that are light level 11 in the portal on the bottom two obsidian blocks that are outside the spawning platforms, just place some torches on the obsidian blocks there and you should get rid of the skeleton spawns.
This is fantastic! I recently thought about building a Ghast Farm and with this design it will be easy. I've built lots of your designs in my current survival world and they are incredible useful. I also really appreciate your explanations on the mechanics.
works SO WELL!!!!!!!!! all the creeper farms i've built (none from you) haven't worked so i tried this ghast farm. it's so good!! thank you so much : )
[deleted my comment] Spawning rules have changed several times over the last few versions. When I ran tests in 19.x, ghasts would not spawn on lighting blocks (like Jacks or froglights), so the apparently easy solution of building the platform out of froglights (which are solid and should be spawnable) does not work. In 1.20 you'll be fine if you light up the platforms, or use magma blocks.
Thanks! I was getting a few skeletons at first and then basically nothing, but replacing the spawning platforms with magma blocks fixed that and now have enough ghast tears to start refighting the dragon. EDIT: Skeletons are completely gone in 1.19.3. I guess they were spawning inside the nether portals in previous versions.
Did that, Im getting the same ghast spawn rate as before but now I also gotta deal with the skeletons in the afk portal, Id suggest just stick with lighting the whole platforms with torches

If you're having trouble getting the flint for the farm, I'd recommend adding fortune III to a shovel. This seems to turn gravel into flint at a 1:1 ratio.
you simplified all the farms i ever wanted to build or have build much harder versions of wish i found your channel years ago the only other stuff i didn't even bother of doing is item sorters and hopper blockers i made them but didn't fully understand them

For a fun challenge, mess up the Ghast transfer platform in the overworld, take it down and leave a portal there linked to the Ghast spawning area in the Nether then go back to the nether and fix things there that you also messed up and wonder why there are no ghast but oddly enough there are ghast tears (still not that sure why Ghast tears were there, but it did make me start thinking about what was going on). Head back to the overworld through the now linked farm and find out how efficient this farm is when about 30-40 Ghasts are waiting there for you...don't worry, they will kindly deactivate the portal for you with one of the 30-40 ghast fireballs they fire at you in unison. I recommend doing this scenario with an elytra for a pretty fun fight and an achievement for killing Ghast in the overworld in a far easier way than trying to capture one and force it into the overworld, here they jump through the portal for fun...or by design I guess. Either way, a great farm that still works in 1.19.3. Ianoxfour's farms are simply the best thought out and clearly explained and easy to build, well, easy for those who know how to write down X and Z levels properly...I felt Minecraft smarter just watching the video! Also crazy how many of his farm have tried to kill me...
Just finished building it, it work fine (for those who play in 1.19.2 dont forget to had torches!!!) but i made the bigger version with pack spawning platform and it produce something like 6800gp and 4900 tears/hours. Its more than enough but far away from your rates. Thanks for your tutorial and keep the good work!
Hello everyone wondering if this farm works in 1.20.4. It does. Downloaded both available words and tested them. The hourly rates of the farm with 30 portals are still around 7.2k Ghast Tears and 9k Gunpowder. But I have to mention that, as Ian pointed, I had to replace all of the Smooth Stone (the spawning platforms) with Magma Blocks and completely cover the top of the Portals with Slabs. Thank you, Ian, you're awesome.
@@calcite_blockSadly that's not something you can fix. If there's even one single person in the Overworld while you afk in the Nether half, you either need someone to afk near the Overworld part or convince everyone to go in Nether/End. It has nothing to do with this farm in particular, if the Overworld is "loaded" by a player and he's not in a range of 128 from the Overworld part of your farm, the Ghasts will instantly despawn, as any hostile mob would do. In single player, there's no problem with this because there's no player in the Overworld, to make the game check if it has to despawn mobs outside of the 128 blocks radious.
@@calcite_block That would do nothing. The Ghasts are being despawned because of the presence of the player(s). It goes like this : if there are players in a dimension > the game looks for mobs to despawn in that dimension > what mobs can be despawned? the ones that are 128 blocks farther from ANY player. Thus, if there are players in the Overworld, you need a player close to the farm, so the Ghasts are forgiven by the mob despawning algorithm. Also, when you afk in the Nether part of the farm, the Overworld side is loaded too, by the Ghasts travelling thru the portals. Any entity that travels thru a portal loads the portal chunk and a fee of the neighbouring ones for a few second. Your solutions remain the ones from my first reply.

Any quick suggestions on how to deal with the skeletons ?
@@kayakbuday5642 Just have the water stream transport them into a campfire in the overworld. Skeletons will push each other out of the portal.
I can’t express how informative/cool/easy to follow these videos are so I’ll just leave this comment to help with the algorithm
Legend Ian!!!!
Thank you for the most easy AND overpowered farms!! They really help a lot
These videos are so informative, concise, and chill I can just imagine an old British narrator being like “Good evening, and welcome to 𝔐𝔞𝔰𝔱𝔢𝔯𝔭𝔦𝔢𝔠𝔢 𝔅𝔲𝔦𝔩𝔡𝔢𝔯.”
i got sad when i see this since i already got a ghast farm until "or if u already have a ghast farm, you can convert it to a looting ghast farm ", you are an absolute legend. anyways, question, can i stack your design on top of shulkercraft's design ?, so i dont need that much obsidian if i want to expand my farm
yes, you can stack it on top. the spacing of shulkercrafts ghast farm is different tho fyi
Shulkercraft don't have any ghast farm design
Its by gnembon
@@hispace2958 ^ yeah
That pesky shulker craft stealing farms again
@@ianxofour Just putting it on top works.. Right? Then thanks :D
Man, you uploaded at the perfect time. I was wondering where I could get ghast tears easily and it seems like I manifested it.
1.21.1 java, this works great!
You are the great at making farm tutorials. Super easy to follow and understand!
are you god?
Yes. I think he is 😊
If you're having trouble getting the flint for the farm, I'd recommend adding fortune III to a shovel. This seems to turn gravel into flint at a 1:1 ratio.
Yay annoying voice farm
you simplified all the farms i ever wanted to build or have build much harder versions of wish i found your channel years ago the only other stuff i didn't even bother of doing is item sorters and hopper blockers i made them but didn't fully understand them
Fantastic concept, excecated exceptionally well. Can't wait to build this!
You are the goat of minecraft farms
this man is just so good the farms are always efficient easy to build and the tutorials are amazing you and rays works are the kings of Minecraft farms STG
Thank you soo much, just finished the build. Now I don't have to worry about gunpowder.
this is amazing im coming from your stacking raid farm, im loving this series. keep on going!
Very nice Ian, can't wait to build this farm is my survival world. Your tut are gr8 and have been building them in my world and man they world excellent. Thanks for the time you put in to these videos, it is much appreciated.
Thanks for the built, works perfectly in my1.18.2 single player world, keep up the gr work Ianxofour!!!
bro this legit beats some of the best gunpowder famrs
I was thinking of building a ghast farm but didn't wanna gather the obsidian. You uploaded at the perfect time
Just finished building it, it work fine (for those who play in 1.19.2 dont forget to had torches!!!) but i made the bigger version with pack spawning platform and it produce something like 6800gp and 4900 tears/hours. Its more than enough but far away from your rates. Thanks for your tutorial and keep the good work!
You never disappoint. Well done man!
Really good video. Very easy to follow along and the farm turned out great
really needed this gunpowder farm thanks Ianxofour, going to build it now
How much I wish I could have waited for this video to build my ghadt farm
It may be snowing in the midwest, but Ianxofour uploaded a video so the day is saved.
wow I've never expected looting ghast farm. OMG you will never stop amazing us
I love you my man, keep doing what you do!
I finally finished it! Thanks for the awesome tutorial!
The 'portal elevator' is very clever!
Ian: uploads farm
Farm: basically only works single-player
Hermitcraft: *sad noises*
Hello everyone wondering if this farm works in 1.20.4.
It does. Downloaded both available words and tested them.
The hourly rates of the farm with 30 portals are still around 7.2k Ghast Tears and 9k Gunpowder.
But I have to mention that, as Ian pointed, I had to replace all of the Smooth Stone (the spawning platforms) with Magma Blocks and completely cover the top of the Portals with Slabs.
Thank you, Ian, you're awesome.
do you know how to make it work on multiplayer? it wont work as long as someone is in the overworld on my server
@@michael4491 could a chunk loader be made to keep them from despawning?
@@michael4491 ah ok, thanks!
Probably the best tutorial I've ever watched.
Amazing farms! It is crazy how many youtubers use your designs in their worlds and on hermitcraft...
Built the farm. It works. It feels slow but you should keep in mind how few ghast tears you really need and the fact that is so easy to expand.
how is it for gunpowder?
@@ieuanyinpretty trash just built it and I’m so disappointed
my mans back with a bang nice video;)
I don't even need ghasts but I still had to watch this just to see the amazing design myself.
Dude you are the best farm designer out there! Thank you so much!
