I have served under MDs with her level of incompetence. Ms Vennells earned £5.1m during her time at the helm of the Post Office! Whilst her victims had to sell their possessions to payback money they didn't owe. Will there be justice?

Probably not, unless there is a private prosecution, the establishment will no doubt rally round in the case they might be next.

I really don't believe that she didn't hear any rumours about what was going on with so many subpostmasters. And if she had been a good CEO she would have done something with it. But she didn't.

She absolutely knew that Horizon was faulty.
Therefore she knew that they were persecuting hundreds of innocent people,
    Robbing them of their:
    Businesses,
    Life savings,
    Financial stability,
Reputation, Dignity and normal Pride in themselves,
Abilty to ever be employed again,
    Lifestyle,
    Mental Health,
And for some, even drove them to suicide.
Who could survive such a destructive force, without being totally devastated, and ruined?
Her actions literally affected thousands of people, in a very destructive way.
And she knew the evidence that this was based on, was a lie, that she, herself, kept hidden.
And she insisted others kept hidden.
    How is that not evil?

When your in a hole Paula stop digging. Why can’t she just tell the truth? Sorry that’s non rhetorical. She bangs on about ‘I should have known’ over & over again. I bet she can tell you how much her yearly bonus was along with her final bonus. Money used for that was the postmaster’s confiscated money following prosecution by her hand. It’s time for her to face a trial, ordinary men & women died because of her actions, driven to the brink by self serving greedy senior personnel. The ‘little people’ didn’t matter. She could have cared less. The only time she uttered sorry was when she had been exposed as a devious scheming liar. Good luck with your trial madam, you will certainly need it.

In my opinion it is a failure in general education, for an educated person to not be aware that ALL significant software systems have both known and unknown bugs in them, that can have major implications for operations.

She is not a great witness, and has a great deal of culpability for what happened. However, she was not the worst witness out of the post office witnesses. She was far from perfect, but others were much more defensive, evasive, and defiant, then she was. Personally, I don't know what she has to lose. She's already condemned in the eyes of the public. She should just admit the obvious, which is she was either wilfully blind, or incompetent, either way she was responsible.

That line about a help desk being available 24/7 is a laugh. Sure, there was a help desk. And they were instructed to lie to the postmasters, to deflect, and to block the postmaster's concerns. The help desk was no help, on purpose.
Vennells is being dishonest when she represents the availability of the help desk as an example of PO management trying to help the postmasters.
But, of course, Vennells will lie, and say she knew nothing about it. Apparently, absolutely no one in PO management knew anything about it.

    • @stevenpace892
      @stevenpace892 Місяць тому

The helpdesk for software is almost always run by the producer of the software, and, therefore always try to put the software in the best possible light. But always know, the help desk people are aware of defects in a system, especially the higher level helpdesk personnel. It is essential to their proper functioning. And they listen to the complaints, and then someone at a higher level decide whether or not it is in the companies interest to fix a particular defect. And be aware that you are not entitled to a perfect system, but ARE entitled to a system that is "fit for the purpose"

😢Is Vennells liable to "make good" all falsely obtained reimbursements from postmasters. Surely if it is good enough for the Indians, it's appropriate for the Chiefs. I'm sure the fat cat lawyers and implicated managers handling the PO Network, PR Comms, Legal Dept, Regional Managers, with a double portion from Ms Bogert, will all be too happy to contribute funds equivalent to the salaries earned by them since the conspiracy was birthed at the first notification that Horizon was flawed. Either that or 15 years at HM's holiday home Strangeways.

If a worker of any level, is negligent, they could be sued for negligence. And be liable for the damages, but otherwise, all workers are entitled to their wages.

How predictable, Paula Vennells entire evidence: "I didn't know nofink gov', not nofink!" Not a single jury in the country would believe her, but you can be sure this judge will. As someone who worked in bureaucracies for 30 years, they all have the same cultural pathologies. I could write a whole book on it. What we are seeing here is a textbook demonstration of "Plausible Deniability". Basically the tyrant (CEO) of the organisation makes it clear that in the event of being given any 'bad news' or any information they do not wish to hear, the messenger will be severely punished. Next tier managers quickly learn to not pass on anything the tyrant doesn't want to know (through any official or recorded channel). Every bureaucracy I have worked in has been the same a flow of mindless diktats flowing down the chain of command, and a total blockage of all information or feedback going up the chain of command. The tyrant rules in a bubble of splendid isolation, only emerging periodically to lecture the underlings about how great they are, how much improvement their personal genius has made, and how we are all not good enough to be working in his or her organisation. When things go really wrong, as in this case, we see the value to the CEO of such a policy.

For Ms Vennells to put out an innocent apology is so nauseating. To play such a dumb CEO is
Obviously a big lie. If she didn’t get info from her staff, she had no use having such a high position. Also her lack of info is total BS. Who can she deceive now? People are aware of her evil.
