Yeah, I'm with Firebrand on that debate. As to the whole "Mane regrowing should be easy" stuff, this is actually something that's been set up already, back in Slice of Life it was said Cranky looked all over Equestria, unsuccessfully, for a baldness cure, meaning it is something that, for some reason, is really really really hard to do.
My theory is that it's because growing hair combines a lot of other spells, and that magic has only a limited effect on a living pony or creature's body. ALL of the spells we've seen either add something separate (wings or moustache), or they move/create/alter non pony objects. I honestly think that actual body alteration is really hard, if not impossible, for equestrian magic. ...Magic Duel actually featured faking age alteration spells, so I think there's some support for that theory too.
*Copy-pasted from one of my previous comments:* Theory as to why mane-mending magic is so difficult: (not that anyone will actually read it) We've seen multiple times before that manes and tails can have special properties. Celestia, Luna, and Mistmane are the most obvious examples with their continually-flowing hair, and there's Pinkie, whose hair doubles as a 60,000,000-square-foot storage closet. I think that all manes have a special inherent magic to them that is extremely difficult to duplicate or mend, both due to the nature of the magic itself and a possible lack of research. #25 isn't the same thing, as it's facial hair that doesn't even match the hair of whomever the spell is put upon.
Imaginer 31415 *Copied from my recent comment* Allow me to counter the mane argument. Magic does not work the way you think it does. Spells cast in order to alter the world alter what I call dormant or nature magic. In ponies, magic is more alive and dubbed individual magic. This kind of magic is infused into their being; shown in a cutiemark, their coat color, horn color, and yes, their manes. Celestia and Mistmane both prove this as they possess a greater level of magic and exhibit flowing manes. Heck, the Mane 6 showed that when they became infused with the Tree of Harmony's magic during the Season 4 finale. Individual magic, unlike dornant or nature magic, cannot be created or copied perfectly unless done so by the original magic itself. This is why a duplication spell cast onto Starlight by herself worked but failed in the instances of the Mirror Pool and Chrysalis' spell in Season 8. Fixing a mane encounters that same difficulty. Creating hair is fine but one cannot create hair infused with individual magic in order to repair a broken part. And if you were not yet convinced, doctor's in the realm prove this existance. If a unicorn could fix a broken limb or even just hair, what need would there be for doctors? They exist because there are limitations to magic that you have not considered. I have been studying and analyzing this for a year and will be publishing my theory soon. My findings are solid and based solely on canon examples, no fan, comic, or Diary material at all. Manes cannot be fixed through magical means. As per the mustache claim, that hair appears to be temporary, removable, and also cannot grow naturally, thus producing no hair infused with magic.
Yea individual magic but what about transmutation being the same color and is fully functional And if that's not enough what about if she just reversed the effects?
Actually, the cows make perfect sense. Dairy cows in Equestria probably sell their milk to make money and we’ve seen ponies use milk to bake stuff. And since the cows most likely can’t milk themselves, they would compensate the ponies for helping them. That and as a woman, let me tell you that overfull breasts are uncomfortable. It’s probably very relaxing for the cows. It’s weird from our human standpoint, but makes sense if you realize that these are cows and it’s probably normal for them.
11:29 Horses eat on average 20 pounds of food every single day. Most people eat maybe 2 to 3 maybe 5 pounds unless they go to a Steakhouse. Plus considering Ponies walk everywhere and factoring in magic being similar to using ones muscles and the fact that Horses by their very nature can eat much more sugar than a human, it's hardly that surprising.
Seriously, and considering how Firebrand loves to do his extended mathematical theories moments (see the Rarity Investigates review for example), I'm surprised they just left it there. Seems like low-hanging fruit, but maybe it was a timing/scripting issue.
But horses also have rather sensitive digestive systems, so eating that much ice cream would risk severe stomach troubles. Well, in a normal horse. MLP ponies obviously have much stronger stomachs and a wider diet.
The trouble is that the writers missed the obvious solution to explain why Rarity couldn't just magic her hair back. Just replace the continuity issue with the phrase "The magic of the removal potion is interfering with our own magic. We can't undo it,"
I've always like Brawny's OC. It's got a unique backstory, has a pretty valid reason for wearing clothes, and I don't see many people giving their characters receding hairlines. He also transitions pretty easily from being the straight guy to being just as goofy as everyone else.
DaWillstanator/Thespio Did you get the message I posted on your discussion board a couple weeks ago? I couldn't figure out how to PM. I just wanted to apologize for my overly harsh comment on your collab with Brawny Buck on "Parental Glideance". I don't remember the details, but I think I was already angry about something else while watching and I overreacted to something you said. Personally I think the episode would have worked better if both Twilight and Starlight were written out of the story. Just say they were out of town for something important that would have been a far more believable reason to eliminate any magical quick-fixes instead of the whole "Magic can't fix manes" excuse which was the dumbest part of the episode.
they might have forgotten this, and albeit it was the elements of harmony, but Rarity's tail got fixed in episode 2, and I cannot imagine a tail and mane being that separate. Maybe I'm taking this too seriously
I've never heard anyone complain about Harry Potter, where Magic can create fish and snakes (snakes that are apparently real enough for harry to talk to with parseltongue) but it can't create food.
I think each of my 52 versions got in there once. Actually, one of them got in with the help of some fish sticks, a midget, two bicycle clips, and the latest copy of Game Informer. (gets looks) It's complicated...don't ask.
Answers to your questions, Mane complaints has great detail so read thoroughly: Mare's Day appears to be a Women's Day of sorts, dedicated to appreciation like Mother's Day but also extending towards significant others and friends. I suppose she was offering 3 bits for a small couch or 3 extra bits for what she originally paid. Or just to emphasize the point of paying more. And now to counter your mane argument. Magic does not work the way you think it does. Spells cast in order to alter the world alter what I call dormant or nature magic. In ponies, magic is more alive and dubbed individual magic. Ok, so international women's day is a thing (March 8th), though it doesn't really make sense that it would have an equivalent in Equestria. Equestria is matriarchal, so it's more like if we (a historically patriarchal society) had a "man's day", which to my knowledge, we don't.
I guess there might also be a Stallions' Day in Equestria but nothing episode worthy has ever happened on it yet. (Also, International Men's Day is totally a thing and is on November 19th)
For those of you who don't know, horses metabolize food differently than humans. Since horses are purely herbivores, they need more food since vegetables have very little energy in them, they eat a lot more food everyday than the average human. We don't need as much food since we eat both veggies and meat. Horses are also bigger animals so of course they'd need more food. Assuming the ponies are about the size of the average pony I'd say they be eating more than twice the amount of food we eat on a daily basis.
You know, I think my favorite episode by Fire Brand is the one with Starlight, Trixie, Discord, and Thorax vs Changlings. That one was so funny, and I liked how it was more of a reaction than a discussion.
When I got my first haircut in a decade by donating it to cancer, the hair got in my face like crazy, and I hated how it looked. My father didn't ask me. He just continued. And while my hair was complimented on by most people I still hated it. Then I got a recommendation from the man who's been my favourite relative since I was born. My twin brother Liam recommended that I should get hair gel and sweep my hair back with it. And I have been doing it ever since. It not only looked infinitely better that way, but it also saved me the trouble of having to tuck it behind my ears every two or five seconds. Now I don't have to tuck it behind my ears until the next morning. And whenever I wash out the gel and grease, I can just gel it back again immediately after getting out of the shower. This one tube of gel has lasted me months and it's not even half gone. My brother is a marvel to have around the house. He makes me feel good whenever he recommends things to me. Because his strategies work. Also. I feel Rarity should have kept her new mane. Fans love change of style to developing characters.
Well to be fair, the original purpose of the show is to sell toys at the end of the day and a new consistent hairstyle is just another thing they have to maintain, especially something so counter to the flowing, feminine manes that we see on the mares. I can count maybe 10 short hairstyles for MARES, all the rest are long and in keeping with the 'long hair = beauty and femininity' trait. A MOHAWK of all things? Not part of Hasbro's marketing for this particular franchise, but maybe I'm taking hairstyles and their cultural meaning too seriously X3
9:12 My theory is that Manes have an inherent magic to them(See the Crystal Mane from this episode, Celestia and Luna's flowing manes, and Pinkie's prehensile mane), so altering them with magic would be as problematic as altering cutie marks.
I think this episode was pretty good but I'm kinda questioning the mane dye if it's anything like hair dye it was probably a bad idea using for rarity to dye her main she used light green and yellow on her naturally dark purple main so would have to use some kind of bleach which is not good for your hair it causes breakage which delays hair growth and I'm over thinking this aren't i

You guys should take a look at Fame and Misfortune! In my opinion, it's one of the best episodes of the season and speaks to a lot of bronies, the brony fandom, and just fandoms in general! Also, the song is a bit of an earworm but a good earworm nonetheless. And we get a few G3 ponies too.
I still love the part in drwolfs brawny video where Brawny got hit multiple times with a boot plus a metal horseshoe. And i specially love the part where Firebrand summons a large boot stomping Brawny, he got what was deserved in that video. Plus this is a neat vid

I agree with you on both of your points. There are people who will treat you differently on how you look, but it shouldn’t matter since they should like you for you; no matter how you look. Also your attitude can mess with your confidence and your self esteem. Love you for YOU, and embrace it! Nice review you too!

Finally you guys acknowledge Brawny’s existence. Now we just need the two kings of physical comedy (Brawny and Silver) to do a crossover.
Arin Lewis don't you mean the three kings of physical comedy brawny silver and manga
deathxanamon eh I don’t know if MangaKamen’s still doing MLP reviews
Arin Lewis The Crossover with Firebrand a while ago and he still sometimes does MLP reviews
You mad Men! Do you want someone to die??
There self-destructive dynamic would not cancel each other out.
Silver recently made a cameo in one of Brawny's videos, but I still want them to do an actual crossover. They are my favorites.

@Herman Cillo Definitely would explain Pinkie's sweet tooth.
Well... that's also explained by Pinkie Pie's status as the Deadpool of the series. No fourth wall, and reality does not always apply.
And not all Ice cream as as much calories as the cheesecake example.
The trouble is that the writers missed the obvious solution to explain why Rarity couldn't just magic her hair back.
Just replace the continuity issue with the phrase "The magic of the removal potion is interfering with our own magic. We can't undo it,"
Thank you
You had a better idea than what the writers did. They took the lazy way out
Right no idea, how they missed that
What continuity issues?

they might have forgotten this, and albeit it was the elements of harmony, but Rarity's tail got fixed in episode 2, and I cannot imagine a tail and mane being that separate. Maybe I'm taking this too seriously
an rper well, rarity’s tail came back in episode 2 because of the elements of harmony, and we can assume they just throw all the rules out the window
I've never heard anyone complain about Harry Potter, where Magic can create fish and snakes (snakes that are apparently real enough for harry to talk to with parseltongue) but it can't create food.

And Men's Day is apparently Ten Days away from my birthday, November Ninth.
This was a fun episode.
I love how you bugged Brawny into forcing himself into the party howitzer. 😄
Yay!! More of my favorite fiery, sun-loving, so-smart-he’s-dumb, pony!
Ok u 2 are really really good at collars. U should do this more together. I am die of laughter and learning😂
2:20 Hey! Floriography lesson! Im so proud :'D
And yet nobody bats an eyelid that they never repair the Golden Oaks Library after Tirek blew it up. Magic can do whatever it wants.
My two favorite colts collabing on an episode! Best day ever before my finals! Youtwo are awesome!
Asura's Wrath is always a win for me dawg! 0:03
I've heard of a backseat driver but never a backseat photographer, LOL
I love when you make these episodes! Thank you! :)
You know, I think my favorite episode by Fire Brand is the one with Starlight, Trixie, Discord, and Thorax vs Changlings. That one was so funny, and I liked how it was more of a reaction than a discussion.
Wait, now I’m curios about what are tumblr Brony points? Rarity punk rock look, I love it. Also we need one more pony to form the three caballeros.
...I vote Finn the Pony.
*Brownie points. Aka points you get for good behaviour usually
"A few months later"
A few MONTHS past in this episode! This makes it even MORE difficult to plan out a show timeline accurately! DX
Can I just say the constant burns was about 300 degrees in this collaboration? P.S great job guys! :D
O god the implications
Brawnys most memorable line
9:12 My theory is that Manes have an inherent magic to them(See the Crystal Mane from this episode, Celestia and Luna's flowing manes, and Pinkie's prehensile mane), so altering them with magic would be as problematic as altering cutie marks.
I think this episode was pretty good but I'm kinda questioning the mane dye if it's anything like hair dye it was probably a bad idea using for rarity to dye her main she used light green and yellow on her naturally dark purple main so would have to use some kind of bleach which is not good for your hair it causes breakage which delays hair growth and I'm over thinking this aren't i
Ashleigh Mcquitty yes. Yes you are.
Ashleigh Mcquitty I like how you acknowledge that you were taking this too seriously
yes
Wait a second…
Did Brawny just put HIMSELF into the party Howitzer?
Theory as to why mane-mending magic is so difficult: (not that anyone will actually read it)
We've seen multiple times before that manes and tails can have special properties.
Imaginer 31415 this is actually really helpful info that I can use to reinforce my theory of magic. Thank you! Hope you saw my other comment, the summary of my current theory.
Yayyy I love flower symbolism. It's my favorite useless knowledge that I for some reason have.
OOOOOH MY GOD!!! Finally we have firebrand and brawny together i am soo happy
Ah so great to see some of my favorite reviewers doing an episode together. These two play off each other so amusingly. XD
I actually burst out laughing when I got the notification at 11:48 pm last night
Always happy to see a video from Equestria’s military!
YEEEEEEEEES!!!! The collab I always wanted has finally happened! :D:D:D You guys are my two favorite brony analysis peeps. XD
BEST COLLAB EVER!!!!!!
Great review you two I love it and alot od funny moment. XD
You know, they could have avoided the whole “have to come from somewhere thing” by saying Twilight and Starlight were out of town
5:40 is the reason I am now scared of Brawny Buck.
Brawny Buck: How do you know that
Firebrand: The hard way
I'm guessing Ari gave him a lecture about flowers
Also Brawny next time your about to do a collab with somepony like Firebrand you might want to take a boot along with ya just in case
Remember the cake in a canterlot wedding part 1
The flower based on mane color is also weird since the flowers are gifts so they likely won’t match the recipient’s mane colors
Perhaps Brawny Buck should be renamed Salty Buck after this, his chemistry with Firebrand was amazing and the ending was hilarious! Well done you two!
this was good collab, I enjoyed it
6:51 Gotta give the editor an applause for playing "When will my life begin" from Tangled when Rarity loses her mane and talks about going bald. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
firebrand: How did you get in here?
brawny: press pass!
so you're saying you were PRESSPASSING THEN?!?!?!
*racks shotgun* Leave!
Well, this was quite the wish fulfillment I did not expect...mostly did not expect....anyway, I very much enjoyed this collab. About time. Rock on you two. 👏👍
I think he takes photography way too seriously...
“Because if he was anymore the white night he’d be the shining armor” oh the ring of Fire you jumped in XD
YES!!! I've been wanting this colab for so long!
10:37 snow drop
I’ve wanted him to react to this episode ever since it came out!
15:00 isn’t that music a piece from one of Pees’lubin Andistandhin’s guitar solos from PW: Spirit of Justice? I know he’s an Ace Attorney fan so, its possible
watches whole video..... somehow didn't laugh until the end
10:21 Aww, Big Mac and Sugar Belle in the episode! So sweet! ❤️❤️❤️
“Why does she still work here?” Because she lives there too, firebrand, that’s why.
6:57 You are a bloody legend
11:42 - Haven't either of you ever heard of someone who "eats like a horse"?😊
I still love the part in drwolfs brawny video where Brawny got hit multiple times with a boot plus a metal horseshoe. And i specially love the part where Firebrand summons a large boot stomping Brawny, he got what was deserved in that video. Plus this is a neat vid
How did I just find this channel
It's so funny
8000 calories in a WEEK?! That's slightly more than 1000 calories a day! You're body burns that many calories (on average) by doing NOTHING!!! Forget having a life that involves moving, you should be ANEMIC with that calorie intake!
Ah the evil overlord rules. A hidden trove of wisdom for all of your nefarious planning.
I feel like taking Ari's phone and texing you a thousand times
(I'm taking this seriously like the name of the title
I agree with you on both of your points. There are people who will treat you differently on how you look, but it shouldn’t matter since they should like you for you; no matter how you look. Also your attitude can mess with your confidence and your self esteem. Love you for YOU, and embrace it! Nice review you too!
I gave this a thumbs up for the whole ending!
I'd like to think that Mare's day is the equivalent to Sweetest Day, the Christmas in July sale of Valentine's Day.
