There are songs that you hear for the first time and you think, “Meh, this is okay.” And you hear it a couple more times and like it. This is not that kind of song. I heard the chorus to this song on a commercial and immediately loved it. Found it by searching UA-cam and have loved it sense then. Some songs you just love immediately. This is one.
At 7 minutes you perfectly described what was happening in the Huntington WV music scene that lead to these guys gettin together and the rest is makin history!!
His bass player is my favorite, he was nodding his head to follow that tempo not missing a beat. Saw him do that the whole time at his concert. Fantastic work they created
Driven through the road work the work they took forever one that hits home if you are from southern Appalachia you know what he is talking about The band he plays with is tyler childers and the food stamps The music video to this is great too
I actually met him on the side of a gravel road in the middle of the woods next to the kudzu patch seen on the Long Violent History cover... he and Sanora were beautiful people. He invited me over and showed me the photos when they were still developing in the trays. I think he was geeking out on the old technology honestly. Anyway, as I was walking away I said "hey Tyler, in All You'n what was the road work?" He said west of Huntington, I assume I-64, and it was under construction when his folks got married and stayed under construction for 30 or 40 years.
100% agree with you on that one. The line ,I'll love you till the love runs out, I ain't lyin. I'm all yourn and your all mine. That's just awesome. "There ain't two ways around it. Aint no tryin bout it. I'm all yourn and your all mine. Just love his style, his lyrics, his energy. IMHO one of the best songwriters going....now or ever.
It’s not though... actually listen and chew on the lyrics for a bit. Other than that one line and the video, which was to create intentional ambiguity, but the entire song is clearly about being a road dog musician and wanting to be with his wife
Of course I love this one. You really need to check out the music video now. I'd love to see you react to it! It adds another layer to the song and Tyler. Gives certain "vibes." 😆 There's so many good lyrics in this one. "I'll love you till my lungs give out" is a line I love. "Goddess in my Days Inn pen, the muse I ain't refusin'" is brilliant! Thanks Don!
Oh and "yourn" definitely Appalachian slang. I'm as country as cornbread and it ain't something that we say around here. "You'ins" is like that too. We just say yours and y'all.
@Arki Momma right! The video is trippy but entertaining. As for the East Kentucky Appalachian dialect, your'n is definitely a word we say a lot around here. I live one county away from Lawrence County in Carter County (Olive Hill, KY hometown of Tom T. Hall) so we share a whole gaggle of similar words and idioms.
Being an artist who’s recently growing popularity, I think Tyler Childers brings a new style to country music what we haven’t heard in a long time and I love how you make mention to that in your reactions of his songs. I agree with your score and you’ve found a new subscriber in me! Not sure if you’re familiar with much of Cody Johnson’s music but he’s one of my favorite artists now and I’d love to see you react to Never Go Home Again (one of my favorite songs of his) and/or Nothing To It. Both are great songs and I think you’d enjoy them!
Tyler Childers is my new favorite. I love his music. My son went to a music festival in Kentucky this past summer and Tyler Childers was new to me at the time. I asked my son who all was there and he was naming artist and I mentioned Tylers' name and said he was from Kentucky and how it would be awesome if he had seen him and he said "well actually he was there, but I didn't know you knew him." I made all kinds of hints for a Tyler Childers CD for Christmas hen my kids would ask what they could get me for Christmas. They didn't get it. They later said they thought I was kidding.lol Why would I kid about that. I am from the South and I aint lying and all yourn is something I have heard my whole life. I just love how Tyler put it in a song.
Found this channel when one of your Tyler Childers reviews was in my recommended. Glad I did, another good video. I live way up in The Sierra Nevada mountains, population 51 in my town. I don't have much in common with farm/cowboy/square dance country, but Tyler's music sounds like the mountains and small towns. More folk than country to me, and that's why he's my favorite!
He's a PHENOM! Dig into his unpubl YT & Souncloud like ADAM, COUNTRY HO, LOUISIANA LOVE SONG, SNIPE HUNT, etc Newest two: STEEP GRADE and FACE OF A STRANGER.
There’s a lot of hate on this song because it’s certainly more produced than a lot of his other songs, but I think this is his best song - lyrically at least. This song is not about psychedelics- it’s about being a traveling musician and wishing he didn’t even have to leave his wife for long periods of time. Really dig into to lyrics on this one and you’ll see how amazing they are... Isbell level shit here
I’ve been hoping you would react to this song. I read a subscriber request for The Turnpike Troubadours song “The Bird Hunters” a while back in the comments. I’ve subsequently listened to that song about fifty times and believe it to be one of the best written songs I’ve ever heard. Would love to hear you react to that one.
@@weekendwarrior4271 it’s not about psychedelics at all actually. Really listen to lyrics and break them down. He’s clearly taking about being a “road dog” musician who misses his wife and wants her with him. When she’s not there, he’s thinking about her in hotels across the country while he’s writing his song (fried morels and fine hotels and all that in the middle, every bite and curtain drawn I want to taste with you. Goddess on my days “in pen” the muse I ain’t refusin”
Big fan of your reactions for over a year now. Maybe a push for a country reaction but any chance of reacting to Bruce Springsteen - Chasing wild horses. Got an almost country sound to it, plus its Bruce so cant think of any other reason to persuade you ha
Tyler pretty much always kills it. If you haven't already, check out a great band from Texas called Mike and the Moonpies. Beaches of Biloxi, or Steak Night at the Prairie Rose from their last album, or Danger from the current album are all great. @bmeers32 That's some awesome info right there, since I was actually wondering about it while I was talking about it on the video (none of which was planned!). I'l add your rec to my list, but please be patient with me since the list is long. Thanks, and welcome to the channel!
@Meers Thanks for the rec. I just listened to parts of the song and it's pretty much straight blues, which I love, but do you have a suggestion for something that's a bit "more country" that he does? Love his voice, but prefer the country sound for the channel. Thanks, and welcome to the channel!
@@RockN2Country Ok cool - thanks for the consideration. Could you do something by Mike and the Moonpies? "Steak Night at Prairie Rose" or "Cheap Silver"?

From a fantastic artist, not the best of his in my view. More commercially accessible but also blander. Still have it on my car playlist, so even a so so Childers are better than many others best.
I love Tyler Childers! But this song bores me, I don't know why! I couldn't even listen to the reaction and re-examine the lyrics without my mind wandering 😕 but agree there are some good lines in there! His way of stating things while bringing in his culture are unique!
