Invisalign tip from someone on the tail end of it....if you take off your trays a few (20-30) minutes before your meal, it gives your teeth some time to de-sensitize a little. Has helped me a ton when I want to enjoy something crunchy or chewy ! Once in a while, I take them off a full hour before (sorry to my ortho). Rice, beans, and avocado are my best soft food friends ! But also, the sensitivity reduces a ton as your teeth get closer to the finish line : )

Whichever car you will be driving around with in Sicily, my number one tip is to never leave any valuables in the car and always leave the empty glove box open for everyone to see. My italian friend told me he actually doesn‘t even lock his car at all. Otherwise they break in and look for things, happened to our rental car twice.

I remember when I first got my invisalign being so uncomfortable, both with sensitivity and pain, but also finding it difficult to talk and struggling with the admin of getting them in and out. In that phase I wasn’t sure I would be able to see out the treatment, but it really did just ease into being bearable so quickly, and as my teeth started to move closer to their final position the aches hugely subsided. A random tray here or there might twinge more, but largely became very bearable in my experience, and I ended up having them for ages with no problem! I think and hope it will be the same for you ♡

invisalign - it will get better! I just finished my invisalign which lasted a year and a half. the first week was super painful and I also could barely eat! The first two days I cancelled all my plans and just laid at home because it was so painful. Your teeth will adjust and this will not happen each time you do a new tray! It's the pains of your teeth moving for the first time. Once they are in-motion, it won't be as painful.

Pro tip: leave your aligners soaking in water when they're out (in a GU dish or similar) whenever you can otherwise they'll dry and smell. You're doing it right with the soft foods and breaking everything up but ultimately the sensitivity will go, even when you change aligners. What you describe is very familiar and normal. Shout out to Invisalign Reddit where I basically lived for the first month :')

I actually have mine soaking in water with denture cleaning tablets once in the morning. Just makes them feel fresh for me. I think Invisalign makes cleaner tablets but the denture tablets were easier to get ahold of.

    • @sab-yt
      @sab-yt Рік тому

@@alexandriapipitone4651 I was advised that for weekly changes you don't need cleaning tablets. They will come in handy for the retainer stage when you're not changing to fresh aligners frequently. I use a toothbrush and Simple antibacterial liquid soap and my aligners stay nice and clean :)

Hi Brittany! I am half way into my Invisalign 6 month journey and just be patient, it becomes easier with time and you will get used to it. The hooks to remove it were a life saver for me. When I am having a new aligner on so my teeth are more sensitive, I still eat the same food but as you said I split the harder food in chunks so that I don't have to cut it with my front teeth. I think though these bits of disconfort are definitely worth the results! I regret not doing it sooner 😊 On another note I would love looove to see a tutorial of how you do your very natural hair waves ❤

Regarding Invisaligns: I had normal braces as a teenager for quite some years. And I was always conscious about the temperature of my food. Soups were also staple but I made sure they were not too hot. I preferred meals on the cooler spectrum but nothing of extreme temperature either ways.

Soft foods are definitely your friend, especially for the first month or so. Your teeth are shifting from a position they have been in for a long time, so the first bit hurts the most (and after IPR - I had loads). The pain lessens the longer your teeth are moving. I’m 4 months in - still get tenderness for 2-3 days when changing trays but not as bad as the first month. (I skipped meals I was so scared to take my trays out!) I avoided most crunchy foods - raw veg/salads, crisps and food I had to bite into like burgers, bread etc. I eat more of those foods now though. Porridge and yoghurt are good and I make a lot of wraps for lunches which can be eaten with a knife and fork too. Another recommendation - the app ‘tray minder’…helps to time how long your trays are out for meals but you can also take ‘teethies’ - photos to show your progress from tray to tray. Seeing how far your teeth have moved and progressed will help your sanity on the painful days!

Regarding the Sicily road trip, I have exclusively stayed near Etna for the duration of two weeks without swimming in the sea once and it was totally worth it. The views that open from there every morning and night are stunning, especially if the accommodation is facing the coast and is really high up!! Would highly recommend just bending the volcano around at the higher altitudes !!

I’m two weeks from finishing my Invisalign! I lost 5 lbs in the first two weeks, because it restricts how often and type of foods you can eat. Probably half way through I was able to eat harder food, but I still can’t eat apples or bit through hard food. It shifts your teeth so you constantly are aware of your teeth and where your jaw sits. I always got compliments about my teeth but all I could see was the one crooked tooth. I’m glad I did it, but it wasn’t without pain and discomfort.
Side noted, I think your bathroom needs wallpaper to compliment the tile. All the best with the move and renovations 💕!

I know everyone's saying it but teeth sensitivity definitely got soooo much better with time and even when switching aligners, discomfort would be mild and go away a lot quicker than at the start. in the meantime stuff like mashed potato, fishcakes, ramen, dumplings, eggs (scrambled/boilled), avocado, soft bread with spreads etc all helped!

Aww. I’ve done aligners twice now.
Key is to put the new liner in right before you sleep, pop in a few ibuprofens (strong ones) & sleep.
I personally ate with my retainers, my teeth aligned much faster that way & so only had 1 day of pain per aligner (but each aligner really does get better as your gums start to soften)

Re Sicily , I just did a 20 days road trip last year, we did the full circle cause we wanted to see it all however I don’t recommend doing that . If you have a gap stick to the south cause it’s the prettiest. Extend your stay in Noto it is a good base to visit the region , and from there you can do daily trips. One day Siracusa, one day at the beach in the Turkish steps, one day Ragusa ibla ect. Also noto is a good base good at night it is lively and has a lot of food and bar options so you don’t need to take the car and can enjoy your drinks …
Taormina should definitely be on your to do list for sure .
Also there is a very good outlet store around there where I scored a bargain of a bag 🫣

Stay outside the new city and situate yourself down the hill (the valley) staying at either at the Hotel Villa Athena, or a gorgeous BnB called Casa Di Mammi. Hi Brittany, my boyfriend and I took a 3 week road trip around Sicily earlier this year. Our favourite places were: Erice, Favignana and Palermo. Whilst you're in Palermo make sure to go to Santa Caterina and visit the bakery in there. It is beautiful. In addition, if you have time, it is worth getting a ferry across to mainland Italy to visit the town Scilla. You mentioned that you'd like to visit Taormina. When we visited Taormina in April we regretted it as it was overrun with tourists, the same applies to Syracuse and Noto. I hope you have a lovely trip, Sicily is so stunning! Han x

Hi Brittany! For your Sicily road trip check out the White Lotus (season 2) series :D They were filmed and set in Sicily - specifically at the the San Domenico Palace, Taormina. Stunning place! Also, some of the series was filmed in the Sicilian cities of Palermo and Noto, as well as on the surrounding Ionian Sea. Other bits were shot at the Castello degli Schiavi in the coastal town of Fiumefreddo (also known for featuring in The Godfather). Hope this helps!

Sicily is definitely a dream! We have been there last year in October for 2 weeks and also did a road trip around the island. One of the best vacations! We started in Palermo and then drove west. I would definitely recommend the "Riserva naturale orientata dello Zingaro" with gorgeous bays! Then definitely the south with gorgeous empty beaches (e.g. "Riserva Naturale Orientata Torre Salsa"). And an absolute must is the "Riserva naturale orientata Cavagrande del Cassibile". Wonderful crystal clear water in breathtaking nature. Here you can easily take a day hike and then cool off in the water. Catania was my absolute favorite city, cool bars, very studenty and hip - I personally liked it better than Palermo. Taormina is certainly very beautiful, but we did not go there this time because it is just too touristy and crowded and you can discover so much more beautiful places on the island. A small sweet accommodation inland with an incredible breakfast is "Antichi Quartieri" in Piazza Armerina. Have a good trip!!

Hello, fellow Invisaligner here! I am on week 9, the first couple of times you change are the worst but at least for me after my teeth started moving more the pain really lessens. I was told to change mine in the evening before bed and take some paracetamol so that the most pain should be gone by morning. But my first week my mouth hurt for around 4 days, but it gets less and less each time :) It also took me some time to find the best way to take mine out due to attachments, I find it easier to lift from the back left on my top teeth and from the right on my bottom, I think you just need to play around at the beginning just to make sure you are confident you can take them out, plus I was so worried I was going to break them, but never seemed to happen. Good luck with them :)))

I have sensitive teeth and there's a bit of paranoia to get through, but if you're not in terrible pain, keep going. The first trays and new trays always feel tight and uncomfortable the first 2-3 days. Cheers to a more secure smile! 😁

Hi, I haven't had invisaliners, but I had serious train tracks for a couple of years for my orthodontic treatment. The sensitivity does get better once your teeth get used to being shifted around, but I recommend any warm mushy foods like polenta and any risotto dishes if you dont want to keep cutting up your food before eating. I also found having protein rich smoothies helped with keeping me feeling full between meals to reduce the snacking 😂

Yes to the teeth super super sensitivity when starting Invisalign, even with soft foods or not eating at all!!! (I’m over a year of wearing them now). I would say that it took about 10 days for the sensitivity to die down and was not nearly as bad on the subsequent aligners. Randomly, there will be sensitivity on day one of a new aligner but it is not every time. At the beginning, it’s just getting through it unfortunately. Lots and lot of noodles 😂 wishing you well!

Brit... there's good news - and bad.
I had Invisalign for 36 months as (like yours) I had to significantly move teeth around to enable correct jaw function, as opposed to just straightening them. The sensitivity will sadly be an ongoing issue!
Whenever you get a new tray it'll almost always be sore and biting down on anything will be tough. You can actually try biting down with your retainers on and training yourself to deal with the discomfort. There's no easy way to confront it, because (as I'm sure your orthodontist told you) your teeth are essentially permanently unfixed until a few months after your treatment ends. (This is also why you must wear your permanent retainer nightly once treatment ends, because the teeth will try to move back, and I'd opt for the metal bars behind your teeth top and bottom. I'm not sure if this is included in the treatment in the UK as I was living in Switzerland when I had Invisalign - but definitely do it if it's affordable, because it prevents potential ongoing sensitivity once treatment ends).
Rice is a great option as well as the soft bread and noodles you mentioned, as well as steamed veg. Anything crunchy will need to take a back seat for a while.
Good luck and I can't wait to see the results!

The pain/aching/sensitivity is with all braces. Any adjustment whether traditional braces or aligner change with Invisalign, the pain seems to be the same :( Even though Invisalign is claimed to be less painful, I don't believe that it is. The first week has to be the worst though. I think people just become more tolerant to the pain over time. I had traditional braces a few years ago, but my night time retainer is a plastic retainer, the same style exactly as an Invisalign type aligner and if I forget to use the retainer for a few weeks and then strart wearing it, the pain is exactly the same to traditional braces.

I love your outfit in the thumbnail but you didn’t show it in the video? Could you share where the top and trousers are from?

Congratulations on your new house! I look forward to seeing the extension and also what you will do with the garden (avid gardener here). I liked the look of the Danish oil...can you not use that for the hallway/staircase instead of staining it?

Not sure how readily available homeopathic medicine is in the UK, but I give my daughters homeopathic arnica when they have orthodontic pain/sensitivity. It works really well!
