He started off as an unsuccessful stand-up comedian, got some acting gigs, became the UFC announcer, became the host of Fear Factor, started one of the most successful podcasts of all time (not because he’s funny), and continues to do comedy and has a built-in audience (not because he’s funny but because he’s famous).

That’s not true. He had some funny bits, especially for the time. In the late 90’s/00s
in the 90's/2000's when rogan had hair he was pretty amusing. he brought a good vibe. rogans real issue right now is you can just feel a constant, iron-fisted agenda is at the forefront of his mind at all times now. he's not really himself. as he's gotten older he's become less of a person
Bro I lived through all of this, let me break it down for you. Nobody knew Joe for comedy. Nobody knew Joe at all until Fear Factor but he wasnt the draw of the show. Fear Factor itself was hugely popular when it was on TV because of all the stunts and gross challenges. Joe Rogan would have again disappeared into obscurity after that had he not been asked to host some UFC fights. UFC became hugely popular at the time and Joe was recognized for being "The Fear Factor Guy". After that Joes podcast would blow up as many working age men would play his podcast in the background. There weren't many recognizable names in podcasting at the time and the runtimes used to be much longer, plus it was more of a hangout for his friends who actually are funny than it was Joe just asking dumb questions, so it was perfect background noise. Joe himself wouldn't even be associated with comedy had it not been for his own self promotion on his own podcast.
It's surprising that Joe has been a stand-up comedian for 30+ years because he hasn't found his own voice and he's clearly doing a Kinision impression.

The joke about jerking off next to his wife was funny the first time he told it in a special almost 20 years ago.
plot twist: I think Rogan's subconscious knows he doesn't have it. He knew that it wouldn't turn out good. He secretly didn't want to release a special cause he knew he would be suffering even more, maybe lose his status. And then his ego got the best of him.

@KingofCrusher Oh please. He writes his own material. Both Kevin Hart and Katt Williams have acknowledged they have paid writers that write jokes for their stand-up. It's a lot more common than you think. You may not like it, but he certainly isn't a 'hack'. He puts in the work on his routine at open mics regularly. In Austin, at his club, you can frequently see him testing/refining new material. Other comics don't do that, it's a hassle, hence, they have writers.

In the late 90’s/00s
in the 90's/2000's when rogan had hair he was pretty amusing. he brought a good vibe. rogans real issue right now is you can just feel a constant, iron-fisted agenda is at the forefront of his mind at all times now. he's not really himself. as he's gotten older he's become less of a person
that is debatable, but the consensus is in and 99% of people never thought Joe was funny! So really you're just wrong.
Who cares, its just his hobby
I've never found Rogan funny, there's no way i'm alone in this.
He has some funny bits but 95% is not funny. He certainly isn’t in the echelon of the Dave Chappell es or Bill Burrs like a lot of people put him in.
He’s not funny. He has some good bits in the past but compared to slob he’s really good
He’s very funny on the podcast…
He's sometimes unintentionally, almost never on purpose
because when he was funny, you werent born at 90s. That's why kid.
It's surprising that Joe has been a stand-up comedian for 30+ years because he hasn't found his own voice and he's clearly doing a Kinision impression.
His voice was pretending to be too high and over describing things.
I got 10 minutes into one of his specials and had to turn it off because of his constant screaming
@@HiddenHandMediaI will say the screaming delivery is strange. Feels like he can’t switch off his post-fight ufc interview voice 😂
He has a voice when he was younger, but that voice was an Italian American eyyy voice that would be outdated now, I think it was an affectation now
real talk. and a bad kinison impression at that.
why joe acting up like he had nothing to do with schaubs comedy rise? crazy how rogan of all people can decide, who can be a comedian and who's not. This guy is no comedian.
The difference is Sam Kinison had jokes with punch lines.
That’s how you know Bryan callen is a meat rider , he said he would put Rogan recent hour against anybody
Meat rider hahahahaha
He strikes me as the worst of the rogansphere, (personality wise), although his stand up ain't that bad imo
*I’ll be damned* Did he say that in front of Brendan?
Callen is one of thee worst human beings on earth, a coward of the highest order. The dude would join a mob to burn somebody, for the exact same things he's guilty of. The guy is detestable.
That's how he made his career, joe is the king maker i never heard of callen before joe
Rogan is surrounded by so many bad comedians he can rationalize he’s decent
Haha… that’s true.
Bad comedians like: Shane, Normand, Theo, Diaz, Dillon, Matti,..?
@donkeykonghustler Shane's stand up is funny.

@@joaoalegria7578 the trend of comedians referring to non-comics as pedestrians or civilians just perfectly typifies how egotistical and cringe the whole “comedy world” has become
Joe violently and verbally ending Schwoob’s mma career just to do the extreme opposite to his comedy ‘career’ is wild. That’s a “tiiiiirrrrrrrrrrible” friend
Lets all just pretend Schuab was not a complete dik to Bobby Lee and tried picking up his GF, which caused a lot of other drama
Rogan isnt a comedian, if he just did stand up nobody would know who he is. His Sam Kinison meets DMT routine is such a miss.
I mean, it's a side activity for Joe obviously, that's how it works when you have money, you can just do what you want.
@@whodat1884If you ask him it’s his main thing. He’s been doing standup since the 80s way before he was known for anything else

I tried rewatching his specials before the live event and I could only make it 20 minutes.
100%
Yup, he could have dropped a special whenever he wanted
He said he was about to drop one in 2020 and then starting moving bits around and editing them, then decided he didn't feel like it was the right time for it. I'm sure covid had something to do with it too, but yeah, he probably has been hesitating
Why do you think it took him six years (especially when you consider how big of a name he is from the podcast).
Rogan's standup is to comedy what NBA players' rap albums are to music.
At least Shaq Diesel gave us "What's Up, Doc", which is a guilty pleasure of mine lol

Exactly
Ironically, Mr. "Let me tell you what your problem is; I know popular buzz words because I'm deep" is the epitome of gaslighting & gatekeeping while simultaneously managing to girlboss & mansplain. What a legend!

He loves kinnison and dice clay... he grew up thinking that shouting was funny.
It’s wild how silent the comedy scene has been about Joe’s Netflix special. Brenda and Brian callen awkwardly praised his special on a podcast but that’s pretty much all I’ve seen.
That Elephant Graveyard video on Rogan's special was a brutal masterpiece.

Joey Diaz attempting to tip-toe around the question
if Rogan's comedy special was good, was like a 8.2 earthquake on the richter scale.
This is in part why I hate Joe. He’s developed a posh attitude that hasn’t really been earned when it comes to comedy. Because he’s easily one of the biggest hacks in comedy. The ego is way too much.
Joe has always been a douche
prime example of hustle mentality gone wrong
Rogan has been making the gay joke since 2006. He didn't copy Schaub.
I know man it’s like people are trying so hard to hate on him. His special is no different from any of his others.
People have been making that joke since gay people were invented. It’s hacky as fuck no matter how you slice it.
Hmm.. Sounds like someone is in a closet
And that joke has been around since the f'n 80's, he might as well have done the "Take my wife... PLEASE!" joke. Rogan is the definition of a hack.
Schaub should tell Rogan to retire from standup/comedy live on the podcast similar to how Rogan did to Schaub about fighting
