Good method. I'm in your age group and I've been putting up my ladder stand alone for a long time. I'm going to use the wire trick next time. The only thing I didn't see was a safety harness. It's the first thing I do when I get up the ladder.
Thanks for the tips, I’m going to be setting up my first ladder stand so my son can have a good place to come along and hunt with me, these tips should definitely help me get this thing up in the tree. Thank you
I had some sort of an idea , but you helped me confirm the idea , about tying off the bottom of the ladder stand, like that. That will most likely save a few headaches.
Using that piece of wire is brilliant! Tying the ropes in place to stabilize is also brilliant! I was compelled to subscribe and give you a thumbs up, brilliant! Happy hunting
With all that rope I thought you were going to hoist it up. It's a lot harder if you have say a 20 foot stamd or a big heavy one. I personally toss a rope up or climb up and use a pully to rotate it up from the ground. It's the exact same thing you are doing except it'a the rope above rotating it up. Whatever folks for you but I think a rope is safer and requires much less energy. The other aspect of it is the rope also acts as a lifeline for going up and securing the stand. Cheers and stay safe!
Excellent....hunting close to sixy years, and still learnin. Like your barbed wire helper..... Great information for new tree stand hunters. Safety is paramount. Too many guys are not taking this stuff serious. Thanks.
AWESOME I do everything you do except for the peace of wire for the ratchet strap just never thought of that I have been swinging the end of the strap around the tree and trying to catch it It's a pain in the A$$ LOL . Thanks for your time and the video !!!
Thank you for the video. I'll be using this method. First year using a ladder stand. I like my climber, but don't like using my climber for my best hunting spots because of noise/time getting it set up.
As far as I am concerned I feel every ladder stand should have ratchet straps that crisscross from the seat base to the lower rungs. Makes strapping the seat to the tree much safer especially when working alone. The first thing I do with a new stand is buy some if not included.
I carry a second house ladder with me. Once the deer stand is up in the air against the tree I put my house ladder on the back side, climb up and secure the stand to the tree with the ratchet strap
Nice video Buckbuster, should have told your viewers to not do it like your buddy, me, at the Creek Farm videos on putting up a stand by yourself. LOL. Nice safe video.
I step over to the side so I can see the seat from the side to see that it is level or close to it. If not I push or pull the bottom of the ladder in or out as needed to get it level
I always hunted with a ground blind this year I don't think it's possible the way everything is laid out got to switch to a ladder stand this season anyways
I set up my first two man tree stand today me and my older boy hold the ropes I had little man stand on the feet of the ladder so wouldn't slide well I left the tree brace talked up let her get high enough it swung down and hit him on the top of the head he cried for a minute he was okay that was a dumb dumb moment on my daddy part felt pretty bad should have seen that going to happen
On sale from $129 to $40! I waited 2days and was sold out... But found at another day for $60, half price. I don't even hunt but like heights so I'll see how this goes.
Don't u worry about ur sent getting gon them ropes u touched. I use gloves to keep my oil sent from getting on every thing, do u kill any deer ,we would like some pics

@@anthonygreene4938 For sure. It helps to keep the ladder from scooting forward as you try to raise your ladder to the tree. Thanks for watching!
And yesterday , I followed your advice, and was able to set the 18 foot ladder stand up. by myself. That made me feel good.
@@anthonygreene4938 Great! 👍

Great vid ! A safety harness kinda held too 💪🏼
Just got a new 20-ft stand and I'm definitely going to use your wire trick because it's a big tree I'm putting it around

Yes I just heard about that some guys were doing that with ratchet straps- not a bad idea 👍
Great video!
Thank you Sir!
Good stuff

Yep- that would be another good way to do it 👍
Great advice!
Thanks- I was hoping that I could show on video exactly what I was trying to illustrate.
❤️ Excellent…… Thank You ❤️
Nice video Buckbuster, should have told your viewers to not do it like your buddy, me, at the Creek Farm videos on putting up a stand by yourself. LOL. Nice safe video.
Thanks Ol’Buddy 😊 Like I said, I was planning on making a stand video, then I seen yours - well you inspired me. 👍
Nice
How do you know the seat is level when you first raise the stand and start tying off?
I step over to the side so I can see the seat from the side to see that it is level or close to it. If not I push or pull the bottom of the ladder in or out as needed to get it level
I always hunted with a ground blind this year I don't think it's possible the way everything is laid out got to switch to a ladder stand this season anyways
I guess I’m old school, but I started out hunting from a tree stand & enjoy hunting from there still today. Best of luck to you! Be safe!
@@buckbusteroutdoors4531 thanks keep posting and keep hunting from the sticks of KY good luck
Did you leave the green safety straps on after it was all secured?
I remove those after the stand is securely in place.
