Hey, I just put up my tree stand a few hours ago using this vid as a guide. Thanks for the info. It is hard to coordinate schedules with people so doing this solo helped a lot. Best of luck this season.
That crank worked pretty good. The summit ladder stand looks pretty comfortable. Have a Happy and Safe Hunting Season ! Keep on keeping on and Best of luck always and thanks for sharing your videos.
Man, I'm glad I found this...been considering just this week about getting a ladder stand and was worried about how to raise it....I worry no more!!! Thanks for sharing and happy hunting!!
I'm going to have to try this with a good solid ratchet strap. My son and I tried putting one up, and the two of us couldn't get it up. We called it a day, and decided to wait until next weekend. Good luck, this season. :)
It’s not available at this time and reviews at 3.7. Great idea. Bad reviews were only about sharp edges and strap and handle contact. Thank you for your amazing video and I’ll keep looking.
I use the ladder part to strap up a pulley or cleeves in the tree. Run your cable or strap up through the pulley and back down to the top of the stand. It will pull up nice and straight. Just a suggestion.
Got one of these and they work great, both putting the stand up and taking it down. One thing I ran into and it didn't seem to happen with this stand... the ladders often bowed for me if I didn't have someone to stand under and push up on the ladder. Meaning the winch lifted the platform and just bowed the ladder instead of the whole thing going up "flat". I'm wondering if I move the attachment point for the winch strap a little lower would allow the stand platform weight to counteract that tendency to bow? Even so, it's a fantastic tool...this video led me to getting one and I used it a TON this past summer and fall to set even small single man stands because it's just easier. Plus you can winch it in tight once it's in position to help stabilize it to climb up for the first time to strap it fast. Thanks a bunch!
Thanks John!! this video was very helpful. I don't like to have to depend on others for help if it is something I can do myself on my own time. I have used a four wheeler and a rope and pully before but this makes much more sense. I have some ladder stands that I want to relocate so this lift system will be a good investment. Thanks Again!
It's great that you can do this John but you should really should have someone with you. I take my wife and its good I do, one time I thought I had it secure and the damn thing shifted on me even with all the lower strapping and bar in place. And it does get dicey when you have to head up to secure the stand basket. Thanks for sharing best of luck this season!
Great vid good luck this season mine starts Saturday because I am down In Allegheny county Pa and we start archery on sat. As a fellow bow hunter I feel like I use more ratchet straps in a season than I shoot arrows at deer. I only say that because I herd you say in the video that you will put more ratchet straps just to make sure the stand is sturdy and I do that too. Great vid good luck
Do you have any suggestions for setting two hanging stands in one tree. I purchased two so that I can hunt with my son but i'm nervous about how they should be set up.
I really like mine as I seem to always be alone when it comes time to move stands but the ground pegs are useless where I hunt. Tie the bottom of the ladder to another tree somewhere in front of the stand. Sometimes it takes a bit of rope but works fine if you take the time to do it correctly
Gearing up for the 2018 PA Archery Season, can't wait! I need to get out and do some dove hunting between now and then to acclimatize for the 2018-2019 hunting/ice fishing season.
we pound some rebar stakes into the ground and tie off the bottom step . Cant tell you how important it is to keep the legs from jumping up on you as you lift it. Also we try and get a pulley up in the tree to the height of where the seat will end up using either a ladder or climbing stand. Then use winch on our ATV to pull it up in place.
Wow thank you so much for the video that's going to make it so much easier for me for my double stand with that wrench!! Thanks again for the vid good luck this season Shoot Straight buddy
This product is solid but I had originally seen this video after I already put up my wife’s 2 man that I added two extra ladder sets to on the side of a very steep hill all by myself that was the scariest thing I’ve ever done and it fell on me the first time.but got her done now when I want to take the stand down I’m just gonna fall the tree
Nice going when you the right tools you have it made I and 2 buddy's just put up a 18ft tree stand I told my 1 buddy too stand on the end runs while me & my other buddy walked it up than brought a 16footer ladder too strap it down still needs more straps and a tree lock so nobody steal my tree stand
Thanks for this video. I have one that I need to change out. Already bought a new one just haven't had time to take it in and replace it. Mine has been in the woods for almost 12 years now. I am ready to bring it out!! Sud'd to your channel. Juddie - J & J TOA
Here's an important tip: attach your criss-cross straps and ratchet strap(s) to the platform BEFORE you raise the stand. Even better, tie a 30' safety line to one side of the stand, too. After the stand is against the tree, walk the safety line around the tree and hold it taut as you climb. This keeps the stand against the tree until you can attach the ratchet strap.
This works but it is inefficient and stresses the frame a lot. The issue is the angle at which you did it at. Per physics, when you apply a force at an angle, it is the resultant component of two component forces. In this case, the tension force in the rope is the result of a small upward force(perpendicular to ladder) relative to it's complinentary component force, a very large compression force compressing the ladder. What rotates the stand up is the force that is perpendicular to the ladder. So how do you make this easier? You need to increase the perpendicular force. You can easily increase this by simply increasing the angle between the rope and the ladder. The greater the angle, the greater this perpenicular force, thus the smaller the force you will need to apply to the winch. At minimum, put it at eye level. If you want it super easy, toss a line up to a branch up top and loop it around the back of the tree. You do this to anchor the top so the stand doesn't pull it out from the tree as it rises. Now attach a pulley to that and feed the rope that is attached to the stand through the pulley. Attach the winch to this rope. Now pull the line that you tossed up so it lifts the pulley up. You want this pulley to be ideally at the same height as the stand. With this setup, the pulley redirects the force applied to the winch and makes lifting tbus stand super easy. Now comes the easy part. You can easily crank the winch or simply just use your weight to pull it it. I like to have fun so when I do this, I climb up the tree and rappel down and use my weight to pull the stand vertical! Takes all of a couple of seconds for the stand to rotate 90 degrees. Nothing wrong with what you did. It's just very inefficient given the angle you are working with. The other issue is the huge compression force on the ladder stresses it because it wants to buckle under the load. Once up, we brace the ladder with cables or steel bars to keep it from buckling. In this state, there are no braces so the ladder has to resist all this buckling force. The smaller the buckling forces, the better for you stand. Cheers and stay safe friend.
Everything you done looks fine except one very important thing, please get yourself a HSS safety line system!! I’ve got one on everyone of my stands, the cost is very minimal compared to falling, please!!
Dude I baught a 2 man ladder stand from Walmart that me and other person set up and it is locked onto the tree from the ground. Was way easier that what you just went through my guy. 159.00
Listen you don't need that ratchet device Put your PURSE down and walk that ladder stand up to the tree... LOL Just kidding that's a pretty cool Idea I will have to look into that !
Confused. You said the grass makes "great" deer habitat, BUT! Wait, what? Isn't deer habitat the goal? SMH. Looks like you've got a perfect mix of habitat to me.
It’s give a spectacular view of wild animals but don’t condone if planning to shoot them down. They are amazing creatures and just watch them live and let them live!
Hunting is necessary to keep the balance of nature. In places where hunting is not allowed, animal over population occurs, disease runs rampant and animals starve, which is far less humane than what you think of hunting. My family enjoys the meat: tastes great, free range, no antibiotics, no steroids. Win-win!

Another great video! Will keep the crank in mind any time I put up a ladder stand! You made it look pretty simple so thanks Royer!
Hey leather wood great videos dude good luck and have a safe season
Another awesome video! I just hung a stand a few weeks ago I never thought to look for a hanging aid. Thanks for sharing it
Thanks!
Hope you get a massive buck this year like you did with the 30-40 Krag great video as usual

Like the crank,I use the old rope and atv pulls it right up.Good luck
That’s a good idea. The double stands are nice with lots of room but they are heavy to put up by yourself.
I'm excited to see your upcoming deer hunting videos! Best of luck to you, your family and friends! A special thank you for the flintlock content!

I've always wonder do you have to use all the steps?
Where did you purchase the hand crank that you were able to secure to tree and the spikes? Do they come in a kit?
Thanks for the video! Good luck this season! 🇺🇸👍

Good luck! Looks a good year for the mast crop. Lots of apples on the trees too. Love the channel dude.
Thanks for the video. Never knew they sold those winches.
Great Video! I’m Excited To See The Upcoming Videos!
What brand/model is the stand you put up?
Do you put blind netting around the tree stand? Thanks
that’s pretty slick, after what I went thru this fall, pulleys, rope a second ladder. I’ll be using this next time

Nice video it gave me some great ideas how to put up a stand alone
I’m sorry what did you call that winch and where do I get one?
Shout out from California.. Very useful channel. I finally subscribed to it. 1luv John and Danny..
What is the winch system that you used? Can’t find it. I did find the footholds.
It was made by ameristep
Grate stand especially for a beginner and very comfortable
Great video, thank you. About to install a similar stand and this made it a little less intimidating.
Can you link to the product you used to raise the stand?
What's up with all of the zip ties on the old buddy stand
What’s the name of that winch system and we’re did u get it

Dont have or hunt or private land so does this seem like a good idea for someone humping all their gear into the woods at 4am?
guys do it on public land all the time a week or two before season starts.
Thanks just bought one
