Nice to see a video of one of those Meteors on California roads. It's different than seeing them riden in England or India or even someplace like Texas. Makes me want to get one.
Thanks, I know exactly what you mean. It gives context.
I have seen this bike in Seattle too

Royal Enfield bullet was my grampa's pet bike with its amazing Engine boom boom, sturdy look! He really did got all eyes on him in 70's India. 😀
That’s awesome. I love the heritage of these bikes.
@@motopicnic my friend have royal Enfield classic bike 1965 model that indian army used in war against Pakistan
@@sunnysanatani3971 Oh, that's precious.
I had a royal Enfield 1993 ..... Standard model 350 cc Totally different from what this new model is..... But Royal Enfield have taken thier engineering to next level really proud of what they did with this bike..... Basic bike that exceeds expectations .....
Yes, it really is a modern bike, I’m impressed with the engineering.
The video doesn’t do that bike justice-it’s gorgeous in real life. I should know, I own one. Yellow ( light mustard) is great has that British 60s vibe. Forget about performance n speed that’ll just get you killed- It ain’t a race track out there. This bike is so much fun to ride! Comfortable, smooth linear acceleration, good exhaust note, and just love the heel toe shifter- Classy touch. Brilliant choice!! enjoy your new bike. Cheers Allan So Cal
I had this
Seriously
The power the dug dug sound I still remember
Exactly! When I see that yellow, it reminds me of the yellow Norton commandos in their advertisements. Classic! 💛
Us older bikers in the UK call them a Rocker pedal.
That’s what I’m going to start calling it

Best colour on these 350s. It's lovely.
The silver Bonnie looks great too.
Yes! She calls it her sunflower 🌻 it’s a great color
I’m picking one of these bikes up next week. I’m neither a new nor a small rider but the reason I’m getting one is that it’s more or less a full size bike with a small engine. Most of the small displacement bikes we have here are built for women and small men. It’s more fun riding a small bike fast than a big bike slow, as long as it’s a comfortable ride.
I say that to people all the time!
(One of my main bikes is a Honda Monkey. I’m about to do a series about it on this channel)
But yes, this is a small engine on a normal sized bike. I find the Classic 350 feels a little bigger even.
Great bike! I bought a Royal Enfield Meteor in Stellar Blue myself in February and love that thing! For a newer rider it's the best combination of power and utility. And I am looking to enjoy the rides and not tear my face off with speed. I've seen one too many videos of idiots splitting lanes and going way too fast and I'm deliberately placing myself at the extreme other end of the spectrum and gladly so. You enjoy that bike! It's going to be good to you!
Thanks. Enjoy those rides! And don’t forget a moto picnic now and then.

Lots of love from india 🇮🇳🙏❤️
This thing is perfect for rides hope the lady loves it more and nice review dude
Thanks! I appreciate that. Yes, she’s really comfortable with that bike and enjoying her rides a lot more now.
Nice vid! I also had both, a Bonneville (only T100) as well as a Meteor 350 now. The Meteor is alright, especially concidering the price. Even my wife loves the comfy ride. Since February I made 3k miles. And I love it truly. Very comfy, even for a 6ft 3" guy as I am. A little more power would be great, but we all knew what we were heading for as we've taken a look at the spec sheet and bought it anyway. Greetings from Austria
Ya, it’s funny how much passengers prefer the meteor. My wife is the same way
You might wanna check out super meteor 650.
@@codesummary Hey, I'll definitely do but I'm going to wait until the first used ones appear. I once bought the 350 for 4,5 k €. Nowadays, the 650 costs 9000€ here, which is a lot of cash for a 650.
Great video. I love my meteor, it took me 20 years and around 10 bikes to get a bonnie. 😂 And you have it as a first bike 😊. Well done.
Both great bikes
Good to see Royal Enfield in foreign countries, Proud feel for Indian brand

Interesting video. I'm really glad the lady likes this bike. I bought one exactly like it in January. I haven't taken it on a longer trip yet, like your 100 miler. But, I have 1100 miles on mine just riding around Houston. Thanks.
Thanks! Glad you like yours. I’m shocked at how comfortable it is on a longer trip. Go have an adventure.
@@motopicnic R u paid for saying all this?

I agree, it’s a wonderful first bike.
Let us know how you enjoy it. Congratulations!!
This young lady made the right decision to get the meteor being a new rider Bonneville is a little bit too much to start with 👍
Agreed. I’m hoping this will help other new riders make a good choice.
Not large, but really very attractive and “a lovely personality” (such a great episode buddy and you are truly blessed to have such lovely friends). This was also a really helpful test ride for me, as I’m really leaning towards the Meteor as opposed to the Classic, as I just prefer the slightly more “modern” look…Bless you all and thanks for sharing 🙏🇬🇧
Thanks, I appreciate that.
I just sat on a Classic 350 the other day. It actually feels a little larger and heavier. You sit on it, but the meteor you sit ki d if down in it. I think the meteor was a little more comfortable. Try them both.
Heel shifters are great!! And bonus is that you don’t ruin your shoe or boot leather on the up shifts!
Ya, that’s a real issue. You can ride without boots (if you want to)
@@motopicnic only squids do silly things like that. Well until they have to get gravel wire brushed off them and skin graphs done
@@JasonSmith-uo7br actually, many riders in India (where this bike is built) ride in sandals. And that’s actually why it comes with the heel toe shifter.
I’m an all gear all the time type, but the world is full of shorts and flip flop riders.(In China you’ll see two cops on a moped, both in flip flops and the guy on back holding a rifle 😬)
@@motopicnic i k ow i see them here in Australia all the time im ATGATT aswell
Another cool feature of this bike is that when you put the bike on the side stand, it automatically turns the engine off. The heel-toe shifter is a beautiful touch.
Ya it has all the good safety features that you see on much more expensive bikes.
Thanks for this video. I’m returning to biking after 30+ years and have ordered a blue meteor fireball. Delivery next month. Let the fun begin!
Awesome!!!!
That’s a great return bike. It’s amazingly comfortable to ride and I think you’re just gonna have a great time. Congratulations.
Thanks for posting your review, it was an interesting look at the motorcycle. The Royal Enfield brand and their motorcycles are big sellers here in the UK. For quite a while now, British and European riders have had to progress through a series of motorcycles, starting from 125cc upwards for several years before they can get on a big motorcycle. It helps riders get experience before buying a motorcycle that would otherwise be too big for them to start on. It can take five or more years to progress through the system. It probably sounds restrictive to the American audience, but it saves lives. The 350 Meteor on this side of the Atlantic is a good seller to people in the progression system, or older riders looking for a lightweight motorcycle.
I agree it’s a good system. We just didn’t really have it available to us except in dirt bikes. These little street bikes are just now hitting the US and, as a result, we are starting to see a lot more women getting into riding, which I think is fun. But even my son in law is seeing the value in starting small. Now he’s been bitten by the cycling bug. (There is a video with him coming up on a Honda NAVI)
Royal Enfield is doing great things these days. And of course, we love their heritage.

Great to see you with Royal Enfield hope you enjoy, im a big2 fan of RE
Me too. The Indians are building good bikes these days.
Mate, great video, love the rambling about smelling flowers and picnics
Thanks! We’re starting a new craze I hope. “Smelling the Roads-es” 😂
Advice--stay off the dark strip down the center of the lane--that is where oil has collected from droplets of millions of vehicles traveling over that section of the road. It can be a death trap especially when it has rained.--mike
Yes it can. We are fortunate (?) here not to see rain for months at a time. But what is always slick here are those black tar patches over the cracks. Those get sketchy on some twisty roads around here, especially in the heat.
Thanks for this great video! I am looking to pick one of these up as my first bike this week. Im 5'6 so taller then the owner but in the weight bracket of the test rider so it is nice to know this will work for someone built like me. I was surprised when I saw the heel shifter I am so excited to have that and to see it comes standard. The Navigation and USB so smart. Im excited to get my hands on this great looking bike.
I think it’s a GREAT first bike, let us know how you enjoy it!
Congratulations
This is no Traffic. Come to India if you need to see the Traffic and this bike does very well.
Lol… indeed it is a different picture. You are correct, sir. And I would love ride in India sometime.
This bike is very agile in tight traffic scenarios. I’m sure that’s why it’s been so popular in large cities. But in our traffic here, where we are used to bikes between 500cc and 1200cc and 80mph speeds, the ability to see the bike “keep up with the bigger fish” in this context was impressive to me. It’s very versatile.
Bike looks amazing, congratulations and hope it serves you well, its a nice cruiser
Ooo its RE…it will serve them very well at fraction of a price.
I think you are right
Love to see RE in western country.

I don't know why people still considering meteor as British Vibes..Bro it's 100% designed, manufactured and produced in India though I know some models of royal Enfield carry British legacy like classics but this is not true for Himalayans, meteor and other newly produced bikes...i have no issue with association with British but we Indians have emotions attached to RE our father, grand father used to ride the same n pass on to their 3rd generation that's why no matter what other companies are offering we always go with RE and when someone says it's British we feel bad bro..though designers are from British or USA or from any other countries but that doesn't matter bro we Indians also work for companies based in USA/Uk as a designer or CEO or chief architect but that doesn't mean that we should start calling that company as Indians.... I know RE was a British company but now it's a subsidiary of Indian company now from so many decades i. e. " Eicher"- 'famous tractor producing company'...so it's my request kindly have some corner of respect to Indians also 🙏
I have MUCH respect for Indians and the job they have done on this and other bikes, for RE in general. I think they saved this brand, I thought I even said that in this video.
But in any case, certainly a good reminder that India is putting out good bikes. 🙏
Thanks for your reviews.

They look nice. Even considered getting one. One thing that put me off was that shifter. I felt like my foot was sitting on both shifts in the same time and if I moved my foot, I could accidentally change gear either higher or lower. I like to move my feet on pegs and this doesn't give me much room.
It’s true. But you can swap that out or even remove the back
Just bought the black one in Morocco really very comfortable it’s my first big bike :)
That’s so great! Enjoy the ride
I think Morocco would be a beautiful place to ride

This is the thing I've always wanted in expensive bikes. You see I'm from India. My father had a 100CC simple bike in India with similar gear shifter. It was super damn easy and accurate, I never got confused using the gears. But later we had the trend of new gear set-up which you could apply only through your toes. It's really bad. Putting the Bike on Neutral is next to impossible lol😂
.
We should be able to shift both ways through our toes or heels.
.
The problem with one side shifter is that you really get confused at times, you're unsure whether to upshift or downshift. Two-way shifter eradicates all chaos.
Yes, I think it will be popular
I think the engine tells you whether to go up or down.
I don't see how the heel toe makes it less confusing myself.

Nice video! I picked up the same bike here in Vancouver, BC about three weeks ago. I'm still in the break-in period and oh man - 2000km before you can really open it up?
Thanks! Ya, we babied it for 20 miles then rode it like we stole it. It’s fine.
But make sure you get that first service done (like 300km) which is super early, but it makes your 3 yr warranty good.
@@motopicnic haha good to know. I think they are being super conservative with the break-in period - imagine a lot of these get ridden hard right out of the gate.
And yeah I’ve taken my wife and my kid out in it and has no problem with a pillion - it pulls like a tractor ;) I got the little backrest for that very reason.
@@mattlorenzi5606 Yes, I think they are too conservative with the break-in period. With mine I'm still before the 500 km service. Off course I don't push it, shift early, use the 5th gear as much as possible, avoid to ride at constant speed for long and all that. But only 70 kph max for 500 km and then 80 for 1500, no way. Not necessary, and not safe in traffic.
Just Wow 💕👌

What are the driving tests process for motor bikes in CA DMV? Do they issue a separate license M1 card? Planning to buy a motor bike, lives in Cali.
It’s an M1 endorsement on the existing driver’s license.
You need to take a written test and then a riding test that includes a circle where you must stay in the lines, etc.
The best way is to take a 2 day course on a weekend, in which you can use their bikes and they teach you many techniques. If you complete that course, you do NOT need to do a riding test at the DMV. You just do the written test at the DMV and show them your completion certificate and they give you a license. 👍
Green green Country i like it
Thanks! We have a video a riding the meteor through the mountains. It should be finished this week. Lots of pretty green pine views.
Very, very smart! Really smart!
Royal Enfield is Road king bike, in India for several decades..👍👍
Great company. Cool heritage.
What' about the freeway?
Also...the diff between the Meteor and the Classic? I'm an older beginner, deciding on a bike.
These are great questions.
The bike is freeway capable, but it’s not meant to go 65+mph all day. This bike is great up to 50mph all over the city and can do 70mph for a while if you’re not to heavy. But you won’t be agile and able to pass like a bigger bike.
The advantage of that is it sips the gas and has a big tank. Great commuter and great bike to go look at the scenery. And super easy to ride.
The meteor is a relaxed, cruiser seating position.
The classic is like sitting in a chair, like older wwII bikes. The new Hunter 350 is a more modern and slightly more aggressive riding position, easier to stand up over bumps etc.
You shoukd sit on all of them. If possible, ride them.
Another option for not much more money is the Himalayan. More power, easy freeway, comfortable upright position and capable of dirt trails.
… And that’s just Royal Enfield bikes!!
Just get a bike that’s not so big and fast that you’re holding it back. It’s more fun to ride a smaller bike to its limit. Don’t let the fear of a big bike get in the way of you enjoying your ride.
A Honda or Yamaha will probably last longer. But you can buy 2 of these for the one of those, and these come with a 3 year warranty. They are a good value and they ride Well.
Welcome to riding. It’s awesome. The people are great. The mental therapy is worth it. 👍
I’m thinking of getting this bike. Thanks for the video. So the shifting is one down for first then neutral then up to 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th. I never had a bike that you kicked down to change gears. Can you shift either way? Thanks
Yes, the gears are standard, like every other bike (1 down, neutral 1/2 up, 2 up, 3 up, etc…)
The difference is the shifter mechanism. Pushing down with your toes to shift down (normal) but in this case, you can step on your heel to shift up, rather than put you toes underneath and lift up. It’s easy to get used to. There is a close-up demonstration of this in the video at around minute 6:46.
If you are a new rider, I think this is an excellent bike to start with. I hope you really enjoy it and love the adventures to come.
@@motopicnic thanks for the feedback. I’m not very new but haven’t drove a clutch since 2005 when I had a rebel 250. Been riding a scooter recently but want to get back to motorcycles again.

Papular bike in India great bike
The Meteor 350 would be a great little bike if only it had a carburetor and brakes that could be controlled by the rider. It does need a lot more chrome and bright aluminum. I love the fact that it has tubeless tires. That means you can actually go somewhere on it and not have to worry about flat tires. Most small bikes have tube type tires that will leave you stranded, or worse yet, kill you when they blow out at high speed. Strangely, the Meteor is the ONLY Royal Enfield with tubeless tires.
Good point. I think they did a lot of re-thinking on this bike
You need to change colour for Chrome finish. Basically its not simple as colour change its colour scheme change when choosing colour. In india they offer around 17 different variants including dual tone colour as well. Dont know how many variety is available in other parts of the world.
Are they tubeless?
I know they use tubes on the scram and the hunter released in the UK will have tubeless.
I researched this bike and most sources say they use tubed tyres
Which would definitely turn me off this bike.
@@letni9506 RE uses tubes for any wheels that are spoked. Cast wheels like this one are always tubeless. Cheers.

What happened to the running in period. !!????¿
A lot of different thoughts on that.
My thought is that it keeps the engine from telling you its flaws until it’s out of warranty.
Most racing mechanics will tell you to give it the gas to seat the rings and seals well.
Listen to your engine. See how it feels. Take it easy when you need to, ride it like you stole it when you feel like it. And realize you have a 3 yr warranty (which is void if you don’t do the first scheduled service).
Royal Enfields are “Built like a Gun” right 😉.
cool bike - needs to be treated with respect - but can often be 'fixed' at home with a bit of common sense. if your packing a heavy load take extra care if you tie down - maybe put something to absorb the shock? rubber spacer? growing less popular due to how rough the dirt roads have become - but an awesome machine on well made roads - Americans brought up on polishing Harleys this is you dream bike at budget meal prices - it has a heart and soul - love them - great video - more please
I appreciate that advice, thank you. We have several videos waiting to be edited that should come out soon. Thanks for watching.
@@motopicnic Thank you
I agree with you that it is not the perfect fit for anyone who is 6 and above +stout .. coz I own one 😁 and I sometimes feel it doesn't fit me..
But I know it’s still fun to ride
I am so jealous. LOL congrats.
Go get out there and ride! 🤙
Rajdoot was the OG dat gave birth to Royal Enfield Bullets.
Did you check out classic 350 reborn sleath black 🖤💜
I have gunmetal grey classic 350 going to buy sleath black this month;!!
My height is 6"3 for me classic is best i think meteor for old person!!"*
I LOVE those new paint schemes!
I think you are right, the Classic 350 first talker person better than the Meteor
Maybe the Triumph is just the wrong bike for her altogether? If her knees are against the hot bits, I don't see how that changes with experience.
That’s correct. I think that’s her “buddy bike” now… lucky friends. My brother was in town and rode it with us the other day.
Wow, you can turn right on a red light.. something you cannot do without the green filter in the UK.
Yes, it’s very handy. We can also split lanes in some states, so go right to the front at a stop light. This is actually safer, because you get out in front of the pack and can distance yourself, plus you don’t risk getting rear ended and stuck between two cars. 👍
Also in Oz, I noted traffic lights omitted the amber turning to green which made sense. The UK is full of 'amber gamblers' and rear shunts. A backwards country for its narrow roads, unsubstantial motorways, road works. Too congested.
To call that bike small with a weight of almost 200kg is a little overkill. The meteor is balanced and that's why it's easy to maneuver.
It’s all relative. Next to a Harley Davidson Road Glide, or a BMW GS1250 it’s tiny. And out here, that’s what we see everywhere. So this bike stands out.
But it is balanced well and does feel lighter than it is. It’s a nice bike.
This bike is like travelling back in time: a 350cc engine that makes only 20HP.
It reminds me of a Honda Rebel 250cc from the last century.
It's too underpowered for a 350cc engine on a almost 190 Kilograms motorcycle (+/- 400 pounds).
Like that was not enough, the worse part is its price tag.💸💸💸
A 125cc bike can go as fast as the Meteor 350 and it costs way less. I know, it's not meant for speed but with a 350cc engine it should be able to make overturns at ease in the XXI Century, something i can't imagine this bike doing, just like a 125cc one.
This Royal Enfield Meteor 350 is a contradiction itself! Although i love it, it looks beautiful and egonomicaly made, unfortunately it costs way too much for the little power it can deliver. I thought i could buy a 2nd hand one but its users ditch this bike to buy a powerful one way too soon, after buying it and thus, they ask for a price just a little below its original price tag without taxes and legal fees.
For that price one can buy a modern Honda Rebel 500: same fuel consumption, but way more powerful, and similar insurance/taxes.
So, it does not compensate buying it 2nd hand either.
Royal Enfield is trying to establish itself as a premium brand like japanese motorcyle brands, but with this last century-inspired-engine, a price that only wealthy spoiled boys can afford it, it feels too greedy.
Have a great week! Ride safe! Greetings from this side of the Atlantic.😉
Good comments
How do you buy a 1200 cc bike if you never rode any bike ??
😂😆 exactly….
Although, the very smooth 1200cc Bonneville is VERY different than a GSX100R for example. It was very controllable for her, just too heavy. In fact, the clutch is easier to work for on a bigger body because it can power through everything and you don’t have to shift as much.
@@motopicnic dude you get what I’m saying though ..! I got money therefore I will buy a plane because I love the way the F-35 jet fighter looks 🤷♂️😂 and of course the sales guy at triumph didn’t give shit that this woman might kill her self before she actually learned how to ride 🤷♂️👍
Ohh Our Enfield is also rides on overseas
Yes sir! We love it!
