Opponent: forks king and rook, takes rook and has a clear material advantage.
Magnus: "Look how pretty my knight is sitting.."
GloriousTapeworm I don’t think you understand what a material advantage is, if your a knight up you have a material advantage regardless of whether you have a positional advantage.
@GloriousTapeworm That's techniquely not defined as a material advantage. That's my point. But yes your right some bishop are more valuable than other bishops etc etc.
hilarious
GloriousTapeworm Material Advantage doesn't include Positions per Definition. It's 100% about pieces regardless of their position. You can have material advantage but still have a bad position.
@@lalilu4732 Yes exactly
Bro the last 30 seconds were simply too much for my brain to calculate...
I honestly slowed it down and rewatched it.
@@dbjmk8083 *thinking about doing the same*
no idea what happened in those seconds, i only saw checkmate
I feel you 😂😂
I had to watch it in 0.75x to understand what's going on lol😂😂
I always enjoy the moments where Magnus realizes he’s running out of time and decides to stop playing with his food
He essentially went ultra instinct.
''Still playing too slowly but at least the games are fun''
Which he says after winning of course!
You know he downplays everything, right?
@@badcornflakes6374 That's his style lol
Had me dieing
@@Synky what are you making?
1:50 "I'm very very happy with what he did." Wtf.
With a rook down, I'll be going in to panic mode.
lmao exactly what I was thinking when he said that...
You get the knight back, and 2 pawns. That’s usually a slight advantage
mvjs27 depends on the position, but in this position he had an advantage with being a rook down.
@@no_genius Lol yea right if you saw that far ahead when he allowed the fork.
@@no_genius nah
10.3 seconds left on his clock, Magnus transforms to his ultra instinct form and secures a checkmate in 16 moves with 5.5 still on the clock. 🐐
"Checkmate, how about that!": Me, never
Lol
Hi
Haha
I wish I wrote that before you :P same :P
The kids are memeing and saying "check me outside, how bout dat"
Magnus: "I'm probably going to lose on time."
All of us: "Lol. You're so funny, Magnus"
lol
😂😂😂
Super video! I applauded for $5.00 👏👏
Yo, nice to see you here man 👏
chess really in his recommendations now huh
MrBeast vs. Magnus?
Lol UA-cam algorithm at it's finest
Next vid: if you beat me at chess you win 1 milion
This game got me realize that Magnus can beat me with only 10 seconds even if I play a move per day.
Chuckle chuckle...me too.
I like what that hypothetical is expressing, but it doesn't really work, cause like he would also have a day to think about what you might do.
@@DreamWorldSyd - Theoretically, bro...
Actually you can just make a move when he’s asleep and you win
...assuming you can survive four moves
tux1968 r/woooosh
I don’t know why I’ve been stuck on these videos for about two days now and I don’t even know how to play chess
FresnoSwag wtf are you for reals? 😂😂
Never played a game in my life but I’m starting to understand how the pieces move now lol
well, in one respect...consider yourself incredibly lucky to live in a time with UA-cam and Carlsen actually using it and voicing his thoughts. That is special. You are literally watching a Mozart that gives his thoughts as he paints. Chess is an amazing game, you should pick it up.
Cloud 9 Mozart was a composer
@@johanfrondelius593 very good. Now work on better comprehension of meaning.
Wow .. since 5:32 till checkmate .. Carlsen litteraly didn't blink ..
He doesn't want to lose his rating
Hey you're right he didn't o: whats up with that
Isnt that crazy? His brain went into full on focused mode, without even thinking about his, no blinking just like you said right up until he no longer needed to keep them open.
I blinked like 20 twenty times during that and then when he reached check mate I had to re look at the board to confirm. God I'm slow
I guess champs don't blink. reminds me of the video where Lewis Hamilton didn't blink at all on a racing sim game with someone.
An entire rook down and his comment is, "Now I think I'm just better!" What a phenomenon.
The position has lots of compensation....
yeah tal be like rook that's cute
Its not an entire rook down because the knight is trap
@@inducedbycoffee yes apparently the active position! But it seems Magnus uses his intuition a lot, because he said, "I don't know what to say--it's just a mess". But then AFTER NxR, Magnus is "very happy with what he just did". He's the equivalent of 2 pawns down (exchange) but intuits that his active position can do damage before his opponent can mobilize. But his opponent does mobilize, but apparently Magnus's subtle yet aggressive pressure wins the day.
hes not an entire rook down though because the knight is completely closed off from the rest of the game and can be taken for free a couple moves later. so hes just down the exchange facing an attack against the world #1. the game ends with magnus up 2 whole pieces and white checkmated so its clear magnus knew the rook was worth exchanging. if it were a classical game with perfect play maybe but this is blitz vs magnus no chance
Opponent: Takes his rook and gets the material advantage
Carlsen: 'I'm really happy with what he just did'
Magnus face when he's in serious mode, and that smile after checkmate. Really make my day! 😁😁
Thought the same, he went on fire and then came back to human: "look about that", amazing
Same bro same
wtf how sick was that?!?!
He'll die at 64 for sure.
Ian Pat explain
@@Wooooahhh6272 come on. Think a bit!
@@Alex_Alx maybe Matthew Kennedy doesn't want to die early.
@@Wooooahhh6272 64 squares on board. Google how many world champions died at that age.
Most of us are just thinking about not losing important pieces...
He's just thinking about how he will fuck im up in 20 seconds in the end.
who else is watching this after jorden won the tata steel championship ?
I am, did Magnus even know who Jorden was during this game?
@@topneorej idk
@@nishantmiglani1952 The way he says his name I presume he didn't, but on the other hand it's just a year and a half ago. Surely Jorden was already top 100?
The speed at which he plays when low on time makes me wonder why he ever takes more than a few seconds to make any moves ever, even at the beginning of the game. His knowledge and intuition of the game doesn't call for long calculations it seems.
I think it's because Magnus is so much stronger than 99.9% of the players on chess 24. When playing in a national tournament against some of the strongest players in the world, he doesn't move so fast lol.
robichj who is that 0.01?
@ Not me!
The more you know about chess, the more you have to consider before making a move.
@@TSgitaar woah deep man
Am I running into e6?? Naaaa I don’t think so..... maybe I am... ?’n I’m not commenting because it’s a mess right now. HAHAHA
Carlsen the meme lord
Why does he keep saying that?
I didnt know magnus was this humble, definitley more of a fan now, keep up the good work !!!!!!!
After the opening I was sure he would lose. The ending (& Magnus’s speed of thought) are amazing!
You know his opponent wants to kill himself after that. Imagine being that far up on him and then blowing it in the mid game
5:13 I would need at least 30seconds for every move magnus played in his last 30seconds
Is that guy a human being?!
i was about to ask "is this guy a dude or what?" but you got me covered! :-)

@Nazmus Saquib what!?

Hanna?
Jeje, good day sir
wow. never ceases to amaze me the speed of his endgame.
Wow! That was a fun ending! 👏🏼
What a mate! Love when Magnus does some banter
as someone who just started chess, I already can’t see a single play when GMs play 3 minutes blitz. So these last 30 seconds are an absolute mind boggling experience. Even in 0.25x speed, i struggle calculating the end
Carlsen: Still playing too slowly
He said that after making moves faster than the eye can see
Grivalodon Productions he meant at the beginning, not the endgame
@@Arominit nooooooooooooooooooooooo lol.
"Checkmate! How bout that" *Laughs maniacally*
Magnus: makes high level moves and commentary
Me: tries to find where the square he’s talking about is
I love Magnus...always fun to watch his blitz games
5:35 THAT MAGNUS FACE LOL
Magnus feels his king is unsafe on d7 in a middle game with all the major pieces and two pairs of minor pieces on the board... so he moves it to c6. 🤯
xDDD
defended b7, c5, d5 on one move, had auxiliary Nb5 or just b5 to defend against Qa4, the opponent had only black bishop... sounds pretty safe.
If you think that's hilarious, you should see the one game where Ivanchuk walked his king to d4 and got the other guy to resign. It's amazing.
Great chess players like Magnus absolutely amaze me! What a gift. I know it still also takes study and practice but they also possess some natural mental superiority when it comes to problem solving and or strategy.
I can't keep up with the game when they go into super fast mode at the end. I did think Magnus was in trouble, how silly of me thinking that.
i did too! i really thought he had no chance of coming back.. but he is he lol
"Checkmate, how about that!" " you are a monster, i am going in my bedroom to cry for a long time"
The ending was crazy fast 😱
That last 30 seconds (well.. 10ish seconds of play by Magnus), oh my goodness - the move speed and to win... Mindboggling
Looked fun! Thx.
Opponent: forks king and takes rook
Magnus: I'm about to end this man's whole career
My brain didn't catch anything in last 20seconds...too fast⚡️
0.25 speed has never been so useful. Still have to pause once in a while lol
it's really funny to listen what goes through his mind. No wonder he likes chess he must be entertaining himself constantly lol
Jesus Christ, that ending was *INTENSE*
Magnus sits like a Sokrates, playing with his magnificent beard, waiting for the students to give them a lesson.
Well, Jorden learned something, he won the Tata Steel tournament where Carlson didn't even make top three...
1:03 "Am I running into e6? Nah, I dont think so"
"Checkmate how about that" and smile 😍
Who are here after jorden winning Tata stell 2021
5:58 total satisfaction face expression 😂
You are my hero
What a game....this man has very deep understanding of chess ...
I'm really amazed at the depth of chess understanding of Magnus, he quickly saw all the sequence after white's e6 and conclude that was good enough for him... WOW!......
He is amazing 😂
First section of the game: "Oh this looks like a pretty standard game"
Last 30 seconds of the game: "....."
Amazed at your ability to assess a position positionally.
Magnus’s thought process is so extremely quick, wow.
10 premove checkmate... a normal day for magnus
Will you publish the game from this session against the user AfuroZamurai?? (That is the game Magnus lost).
is there no engine supspicion?
haha, would be cool to see that also!
The whole session is avalible in the chanel
Sure! Publishing them all one a day and that's in 3 or 4 games.
@@freaki0734 no, no suspicion
This was so fucking incredible, love it, i think even magnus didn't expected that checkmate
I love the concentration on his face from 5:30. He doesn't blink until checkmate 😳
the real reason youtube have a 0.25x speed option
Jesus... I don’t think anyone will ever understand chess as much as Magnus Carlsen for the rest of human history.
nah, we'll look at carlsen the same way we look at Kasparov.
@@TheShadowblast123 we will get another magnus, but i dont think hes out there right now. we will have to wait
Check out Fischer. Chess was the only thing the guy knew or understood, he didn’t even understand his family. He lived and breathed the game until he died.
@@ianmccombs7287 bobby fischer ???? Ive heard alot about him, is it really that deep ???? Might have to check out some movies about him or something
Ian McCombs he also declared it a dead irrelevant game later in life
nice smile
the end went from 0 to a 100 real quick
Worst strategic error is to make any move that causes Magnus run down his clock.
After Tata Steel, this video is very popular! 😱
«Checkmate, how about that» - Me every game i lose
That end game tho
"Now I think I'm just better"
-Calmly said by Magnus Carlsen as he is down a whole rook
Everytime I see this man play in Chess24 he be like
Down in the last 30 seconds
Opponent: I gottem hehehe
(Magnus goes serious series)
Magnus: “Omae wa mo...shindaeru...”
Opponent: Nani?
5:08 Bishop to c3 was my first thought I believe checkmate in 6 moves Bc3 check, Rc3 bxc3 check and then two options.
Option 1: Ka3 c2 check Kb2 Rb8 check Ka1 Qc3 check Qb2 Qb2 checkmate
Option 2: Ka1 Nc2 check Kb2 Rb8 checkmate. After Nc2 check you have to go Qc2 give up the queen and your basically winning.
These videos are addicting in the same way watching planes take off and land are. Subbed
A genius know how to handle situation
He is great. I just love him so much 😍
I dont think hes human thou 🤔
He is a chess genius and we get to see him play for free. It's awesome.
since my brain is overloaded imma just enjoy his incredibly charming voice
we really are so fortunate be alive in an such an accessible era - where we can so easily access the mind of the chess world champion.
I had to play the video at 0.75 first to understand what the hell happened in the last 20 seconds... It was still too fast for me... so went down to 0.5x... Then paused and played several times to analyze why and how he chose those moves perfectly... Then I just realized one thing... I hate Magnus because I could never play like him, Lol... Hands Down...👌👌👌
This actually happened to me just today lol ! I was playing bullet, and was down to like 1 sec and the guy had 20+ secs! but I had a nice attack going! at the end I just was throwing pieces at him and saccing everything (with no intentions I was going to lose on time anyway) and suddenly I checkmated him lol .. I understand Magnus probably saw the mate a year ago, I just wanted to tell my story :D
bullet mode should be called stupid mode. mouse skills are half the skills and internet connection speed the other half
The Higher Space....that's the fun of Chess, i'm absolutely shit, but i even pull out a good game once in a while ; ).
share the game bro, let us see.
I had to put the ending in slow motion to understand it.
Magnus Carlsen: 10 seconds on the timer? More than enough!
This guys brain is wired different than mine.
He's the best player of all time
Phenomenal.
Imagine everyone's thought process in internet 😮
2:53 Carlsen: "he cannot castle"
3:15 [Jordan castles]
Pretty sure he meant the Kingside castle. Jorden's Queenside castle had terrible pawn structure.
How does he have time to think!?!
'The one' does not need to think, he does.
Cant be too much longer before he uses telekinesis to shift his pieces.
@@mark-ish I see a rule change coming to give the competition a slight chance. Magnus only gets 1 second, no time bonuses.
Practice, knowledge, patterns, books, thousands of matches
A pro like Magnus can predict your moves. They always calculating. I mean all chess players does but Magnus is just on different level since he got atleast 190 IQ.
Magnus has been turning it on in last 30 sec, opponents can't catch up.
I have to watch the endgame in 0.5 to hardly understand what happen. How could he calculated all the moves such quick. Is it possible, that he don't calculated but "feel" where to move?
@@adriandiaconu8030 true, but intuition is already exercised into calculating -))
It'll mostly be fairly basic tactical ideas like pinning the bishop, king opposition, looking for forks, etc at that speed rather than calculating too much (although the speed he spots those at is still awesome). That paired with his absolutely insane knowledge and understanding of endgames too, of course.
Question: obviously it is possible to play moves in seconds and win the game. Why do they think 3,4, 5 or 7 hours for a move in a championship game?
@@AmplifyChris More time = more chance to win
That was remarkable honestly
Carlsen es un loquillo😂
