How do you say he is the goat
Well, I doubt Magnus can beat the engine I use, (By gametop free download, "Grand Master Chess 3", never seen any of you guys play it either), so big deal.
I bet it beats you 4 out of the first 5 games you play it on the "easy adult" level. Wanna bet me some money and show me how good you are? That is a challenge for all the YT experts. None of you are good enough to beat it. Go pick on some kids from the special Olympics.
Eric, what I know about chess... a5 only helped him to play his game.... Queenside is not the right place, where you should play. Center (control e4) and kingside play (f7-f5-f4) seems to be much more logical plan.
just the fact that you made him stare at the board for more than 10 seconds is an achievment.

@@tropica9238 why are you people everywhere. Do you feel satisfied commenting that or what is the deal? Are you happy with your life? Because from my perspective you seem miserable. Whenever a GM is staring at their board for more than 10 seconds, you know they're calculating every move in the universe before they castle
When a master stands long before making move, it means he realizes he is in trouble. From there we can expect he will finally roll his king and shake our hands. That's what I experienced years ago. 😀
In the universe 😂
@@lexsoft3969pretty much, if a grandmaster stares for a long time, they’re either gonna checkmate you, castle or resign
@@halloweenfan158no he's just thinking about breakfast
That is impossible. Even computers will never be able to calculate all possible moves, simply because there is not enough time and space available. The total number of possible chess games is estimated to be 10^140 (the so called Shannon number). Compare that to the number of estimated atoms in the universe, which is 10^80, and you might understand why.

It was kinda pathetic to watch him ask for an autograph after. Maybe he was obliviously ecstatic with playing a game over the board with Magnus or I’m overthinking the whole thing 🤷♂️
@@rawr207 Nah I think Rosen is just extremely humble to play him and is genuinely a fan.
the fact that Eric lasted to the endgame, while also being equal in material is an accomplishment tbh
Magnus won thanks of small details. I think Eric's biggest positional mistake was not to unpin his knight. When he played Rh7 I think that Rf7 was slightly better. The Knight moved just once in the entire game and never reached f6 or f8. If Eric had played Rh7 followed by Nf8 and Ne6 the power of Magnus' bishop would have been seriously crippled and maybe he could have handled the draw.
Of course after f6, which basically invited Magnus inside his castle, it was game over.
@@italixgaming915 yeah it is the backwards pawn in combination with the strong pin from the bishop, that makes black position miserable
Yeah while magnus played against 5
Eric is an international master. He's a _very_ strong player. Games between strong players aren't typically won or lost how you imply they are. Not blundering a ton of material or having your position collapse immediately out of the opening against Magnus would be cool for a hobbyist player. For an IM, it's expected.
Eric is an amazing player, dont get me wrong, but you should know Magnus is playing many games at a time.. this game is not a good reference

Not quite sure how Magnus makes his moves looks so normal yet so complex. You can actually predict some of his moves but you will have no solutions to it until he cripples you totally. Such a genius. Welldone Eric.
Those are the best: where they see it coming but can't do anything
It's a pattern to chess. Difficult to decide moves, to someone with a breadth of understanding such as Magnus' are rare to come by. If the moves seem simple until "the one" its because he has already identified the "best course" and only that fork in the road is really noticeable to us!
Hans in the background: "chess speaks for itself" Magnus: *raises eyebrows and smirks*
It was incredible to see Magnus's understanding of the position; Eric played solid moves throughout but I don't think he ever truly equalized. Magnus had Eric's pieces effectively paralysed around that backwards pawn going into the middle game. Yeah, I don't much at all about Carlsen (I'm not really a chess player), but it was here that I realized he's got photographic memory. And then I looked that up, and yes, of course he does. How else could he just know that Eric hasn't moved yet with one, instantaneous glance before walking away? I guess there are videos of him playing multiple games blindfolded, so he has to have all of that in his memory. That ability obviously gives one a huge advantage in the game, not only for parlor tricks like that, but also in terms of just holding so many positions and strategies in your head, seeing how everything plays out super quickly.

Playing against Magnus is being hypnotised. The moves that he makes seems to be obvious but at the same you feel that can’t do nothing about it.😅
It must be a wild feeling to be concentrating so hard on the game while watching/listening to Magnus wander around chatting with people and signing stuff lol
1:00 This moment is hilarious ; Alireza mistakenly playing a move on one of Magnus' opponent chess board ; Magnus smiling "it's ok you can play "(on my behalf ; i trust you ; you're the candidate i'd wish for the world chess championship)
These kind of events are too rare imo
9:27 that was cold magnus 💀
I love that you added the failed autograph attempt at the end. You're a classic Rosen haha
Wasn’t that the sheet where they write the moves?
Nah I dont think so he only wrote on it a few times maybe its just thoughts he got or so but idrk too
@@rosepinkskyblueI think I got the real answer now they write what they think was the best move for the other Person bc at the end of most games they talk about moves they missed
Im pretty sure he's just writing the moves down so he has his game with magnus forever@@Maousu
Love to see Magnus so relaxed, I can really understand him not playing the world cup
Look at Magnus facial expression after Hans makes his comment on the loud speaker 😂
5:32
When Magnus comes over at 3:21 and stares at the board for more than 2 seconds: Eric looks so nervous and excited, glancing up at him repeatedly. It's adorable.
This is so crazy cool!!!
11:43 did Magnus ask the girl to just resign? 😂
Tbh I was genuinely rooting for Eric to accomplish the major upset un chess.
You did really well.
Eric - thanks for such amazing and relaxing content. Ngl you’re actually chill and friendly unlike some other streamers. Happy birthday.
The absolute joy you feel when you predict Magnus's next move.
The only one I could predict would be a queen exchange 😅
18:58 when i predicted his move Qh8 i was like hmm maybe i can beat Magnus after all 😂😂
At 11:12 or so I predicted the free pawn thingy and at 16:34 the rock move
I feel so bad for Eric at 19:22. He just wanted Magnus to sign his sheet!
Yeah man 😢😢
That was so wholesome Eric. I cant wait to hear your thought process behind some of your moves!
(i remember watching one of the games you played in the most recent tournament usa from the lichess showing of the board being confused with some choices and then hearing the analysis of your thought process later and realizing why you made some of the moves you did and it was really insightful)
Imagine being so strong that Eric Rosen is just *one* of your several players in a simul....
people often forget that the gap between a 2350 elo player and a 2850 elo player is the same as the gap between an 800 elo player and a 1300 elo player. the skill gaps in chess are insane
@@niranjanrajesh1058 the actual amount of games a 1300 would win against an 800 is the same amount that a 2850 would win against a 2350. That's how elo scores are set up
@@niranjanrajesh1058 I would say the opposite actually. It's not that hard for an 800 player to win a game against a 1300, as such players are constantly improving very quickly. On the other hand, in time formats that aren't bullet, Carlsen will always crush Rosen without much thought.
@@legrandliseurtri7495 you are correct
@@niranjanrajesh1058 The 1300 might beat the 800 the way Magnus beats the IMs, that sounds fine. But a 2800 is familiar with at least hundreds of thousands more kinds of positions (or can navigate them better) than an IM, and probably has tens of thousands more hours of serious work. Many IMs can't even achieve the GM norms and get 150 more ELO points. The 800 player can probably get to 1300 with 140 hours of serious work, or 460 hours of messing around. At some point I reached 1600+ on Lichess, bullet 1 min no increment, after watching random chess videos on 2× speed while eating, by using my ADHD to go full madman mode and flag people. I got into top 43% or so players on that app, that particular game mode, by almost doing nothing. IMs would probably have to sell their souls and virginities to reach 2800.
the whole a3 followed by Qb4 was brilliant, completely catches Eric - just amazing how quickly he saw that winning idea
It is fun to watch the masters just walk around and make amazing moves without needing much thought.
Proud of you man! Way to represent St. Louis. That must've been very intimidating to face him, but you made him work for it! Great job.
You kept him thinking. That does you credit.
the thing I notices
at 3.24 Magnus had to thing for 32 seconds after seeing your move
at 8:46 Magnus had to thing for 18 seconds after seeing your move
at 11:01 Magnus had to think for 19 seconds after seeing your move
at 13:58 Magnus had to think for 31 seconds after seeing your move
and at 15:24 Magnus had to think for 1minute and 9 seconds after seeing your move.
WoW you made him think a lot! I would be happy if he had to think for 15 seconds for the entire game against me.
PLUS I like the fact you never got up to make him sign your card.... that showed so much respect.
this mush have been a one in a lifetime experience... lucky you.. so happy you got the video to show you did this
now we just need an average of what magnus makes a year and divide it into minutes to get an approximate figure of how much eric cost magnus in cold hard cash
That last time he was calculating until the end so he wouldn't think anymore.
New title of this video: "I made Magnus think a lot!"
Fun segment at 3:22 when Magnus stops to think for a moment.
It seems he makes a big calculation and does a little finger dance.
That's when you were lost ...
“I don’t know why you said it’s a complicated game it’s really not” the followed by “it’s only the highlights on UA-cam” damn he sent shots for absolutely no reason Magnus is a savage fr
At 3:52 Magnus is hit by the Hikaru effect. Calculating every single line and then is like “I’ll just castle, keep it simple”
The random chess speaks for itself really caught me off guard lol
4:37 On Hans first mate That "Chess speaks for___" got me lollls😂
"I almost held a worse endgame against Magnus" was a pretty good description of the video to be fair
Except that end game wasn't even close. Great video tho!
At 13:21, look at Niemann in the background waiting for his move to arrive. He doesn't even bother to look at the board.
He's feeling the vibrations to know what to move.
