Most beautiful birdsongs are made by males to find their mates.
Here is the translation of the song that I complied and tweaked from multiple sources (including the original English transliteration from the album) to better convey the message. The lyrics are for the original song without Lizzie but this version cut a few lines to make room for her piece.
As a Mongolian, I really enjoyed the lyrics so I wanted non-Mongolian speaking audience to understand the lyrics as well. To me, the meaning of the song is also about our Earth as the beginning and ending of everything.
The palm tree grows and flowers
As she sings softly my soul retains
    My wife, an honorable lady
    Compassionate and delicate
The Argali (big horn sheep) springs and flies in the mountains
    Her fondness melts me languidly
    My wife, an honorable lady
    Compassionate and lovely
The birds sing and tweet in the eternal blue sky
They are happy and joyful in their souls
    I am faith
    My wife, an honorable lady
    Compassionate and mesmerizing
The palm tree grows and flowers
As she sings softly my soul retains
The Argali springs and flies in the mountains
    Her fondness melts me languidly
The birds sing and tweet in the eternal blue sky
They are happy and joyful in their souls
With the precious words of your forefathers
With the milk blessed road of your mother, the true path
With the power of love for your homeland
Have a fighter spirit in you, be steady
As if you were a blade of a sword
As if you were a point of an arrow ready to shoot, spring and fly, ride and rise

Don't feel bad about crying a bit while listening to this. I've heard this song dozens of times, and I STILL tear up when I hear it. PS You should find the lyrics so you know what the men are singing. Those are beautiful as well.

Just want to put another point of view on the lyric "when birds scream in the trees" I thought more about baby birds crying out for their mom's than shrill screeching.

In an interview, Lzzy explained how the Hu contacted her for a colab and gave her the song and their lyrics and carte blanche for adding her own lyrics. She arranges all of her own stuff, so it wasn't that much of a challenge for her. What was a challenge for her was throat singing. She intended to learn how to do it and join in. She stated that while she's very confident of her vocal flexibility, Mongolian throat singing is not that simple. She performed live with them at least once...in Nashville?? Not sure on that.

Met Lzzy years ago at a place I played at all the time outside of cincy. It was for a tv show……
The girl can sing, she can wail, she can dig up emotion when she sings, and was very sweet and gorgeous.
The Hu? Amazing band. Being half American Indian, their music hits me on a deep level. The tribal thing I guess lol
Throw these two together and you have an amazing tune like this.

    Lyrics with translation:
The palm tree grows and flowers
As she sings softly my soul retains
    My wife, an honorable lady
    Compassionate and delicate
I am bones and I am skin
I am home, where life begins
I’ve started wars, I’ve given peace
Across the ocean, I carried the seed
    I’m your lover
    I’m your mother
    I’m your sister
    I’m your daughter
When Kings fall to their knees
    They sing a woman’s song
When birds scream in the trees
    They sing a woman’s song
    The sunrise in the east
    Sings a woman’s song
    Every heart that beats
    Sings a woman’s song
    I am fire
    I am water
    I am empress
    I am thunder
    I am flower
    I am wonder
    I’m the object
    Of your desire
    I am beauty
    I am grace
    I am faith...
The birds sing and tweet in the eternal blue sky
They are happy and joyful in their souls
    My wife, an honorable lady
    Compassionate and mesmerizing
When Kings fall to their knees
    They sing a woman’s song
When birds scream in the trees
    They sing a woman’s song
    The sunrise in the east
    Sings a woman’s song
    Every heart that beats
    Sings a woman’s song
The Argali (big horn sheep) springs and flies in the mountains
    Her fondness melts me languidly
The birds sing and tweet in the eternal blue sky
They are happy and joyful in their souls
Every heart beats a woman’s song
Every heart beats a woman’s song
Every heart beats a woman’s song
Every heart beats a woman’s song
This verse is only in the original and not in this collab:
With the precious words of your forefathers
With the milk blessed road (life journey) of your mother, the true path
With the power of love for your homeland
Have a fighter spirit in you, be steady
As if you were a blade of a sword
As if you were a point of an arrow ready to shoot, spring and fly, ride and rise

A bird singing in the trees isn't a shrieking sound. A bird's song in the spring and early in the morning is so beautiful.

The line about the bird's screaming can be taken as birds loudly proclaiming. It's how I've always understood it.They praise without restraint.

@Jennifer Takes Oh shit, didn't expect a reponse. It's just my take, but the whole song is about reverence for women so I always thought of it more like loud praise.I don't really think of women as shrill, but I can see how maybe ot can be construed that way.

Lzzy Hale found out about a band called *The Warning* - a band of three sisters - and invited them to tour with Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless. She interrupted their set one show to come out onstage, kneel, and gift a Gibson Explorer guitar to The Warning's lead singer/guitarist. Pretty high compliment! To hear The Warning, try 'Animosity', 'Evolve', and 'Disciple' to start, or maybe their cover of Metallica's 'Enter Sandman', which is on Metallica's _Blacklist_ album.

Hi Jennifer, greetings from the Netherlands. I enjoyed watching your reaction. The Hu has such a unique style and Lzzy Hale's voice is fantastic. And you can't disagree with the lyrics, can you? I know you're not a huge metal fan, but can I introduce you to some symphonic metal, which you may just really enjoy? Give Nightwish a listen, a Finnish band with a Dutch singer, Floor Jansen. You really need to hear her sing. Nightwish is a very diverse band. Their music is exceptionally well composed and arranged. The lyrics are very powerful and poetic, which leads to great storytelling. Being a metal band, they of course have the heavy tracks, but there are a number of epic and melodic songs as well, other songs have a more celtic feel and they can even sound a bit jazzy. They also have some amazing ballads and I want to recommend one of those ballads here. The song is 'Sleeping Sun' and it was written for the solar eclipse in Europe in 1999. Enjoy! ua-cam.com/video/rsotlzr9wNw/v-deo.html

i have listened to this song a few times trying to find a description of the sound of their voices.
and the best i have is "It is a primal growling sound that is dripping with testosterone. very male which makes the song better in my opinion when paired with her voice.

Interesting... I'd never thought of "When birds scream in the trees, they sing a woman's song" as implying that women are shrieking. Not any more than I thought "When kings fall to their knees, they sing a woman's song" means that women are kneeling kings, or that the sunrise in the east means women are big bags of hot gas. xD
Bit of a listening there, perhaps?
Also, you don't need to explain the tears. I'm still crying to this song years and dozens of listens later. It does that!
