I read somewhere that The HU gave Lzzy free rein to write any lyrics and any melody she saw fit to lay over the top of the original score. That’s trust and credit to her vocals and writing.

Actually they sent her an English translation to the song (they had already written the whole thing), and asked her to add some English lines to it along the theme of what they had written, and were moved by the power of what she had written.
They also explained their cultures thoughts towards women to guide her.

I can barely listen to the song without tearing up because it reminds me of my biological mom who I have not seen in over 27 years and I just found out that she passed away earlier this year so I could not say what I wanted to say when I finally read it again just can't watch this without crying. and it's been a stressful year for a lot of people but for me personally this takes the cake

Hi! Throat singer here. Anyone can do throat singing! When someone does that, they're creating a resonance in the different chambers of their pharynx (mostly the hypopharynx and oropharynx), by slightly closing the hypopharynx and larynx a bit. This is what causes the "vibration" that you hear in the throat, and resonates in both the chest and pharynx. This slightly closes with coughing. So if you can figure that out, or try to imitate a vacuum cleaner, you'll be on the way to learning it!
How do you do the higher whistling thing he does at the end? It seems to lack the bass resonance in the pharynx or are my ears just mistaken?
@@valq10 You can try to push air through the parts of your throat that manage your treble.It's kinda higher up,the bass for me is lower down,the treble seems.to be up.top,but I'm still learning.

Saw many of The Hu’s videos. Loved every one. It’s metal, it’s Mongolian, it makes you happy. There’s no way to walk away without a smile. After the pandemic, if they come to my city, I am going to see them live.

I absolutely love these guys. I was lucky enough to meet them in their green room for just a few minutes after their St. Louis show last October, and they were just the absolute nicest guys in the world. And that doesn't even touch on the explosive, electric, energized live performance I'd just watched for around an hour and a half.

I just discovered the hu a few days ago and I love them and the throat singing.
Truth here is that so many of us men LOVE and respect our women. We love our mothers, we love our sisters, we love our daughters. We get ZERO respect for this but it's till true. So when a brilliant lady like LZZY steps up and tells a very human experience into her music, the rest of us feel something. I feel protective. I feel respect. I feel love. I'm a man but I love every female in my life. I love what you ladies feel. All I can do is beg you to listen to my respect and please stop hating us men. We love you on all these amazing levels. There’s a lot of different styles, some sound almost like whistling. It’s a pretty diverse and amazingly cool sounding group of styles.

Beth, you should really check out Florent Saifati of Landmvrks, particularly their new song Lost in a Wave. The range he expresses in the song along with the different styles of vocals is incredible. Would love to hear your breakdown of his vocals, plus it's just a great song lol.
Yet another reaction video that while enthusiastic about the sound, beat, rhythm, vocals, etc, ignores the visuals. It's a great song and video, on audio AND visual levels. Each band member has a moment where they honor their mothers. Makes me cry a little every time I see it. Every. Heart. That. Beats. Sings. A. Woman's. Song.

Wonderful... song & reaction! Love The Hu!! And this is my favorite song (although Wolf Totem might tie, so many good ones already). Beth, went to your channel to check to see if you've reacted to 1 of my favorite metal bands (that I only 'discovered' a few months ago, even though they've been around for almost 20 yrs!) - and you haven't. Please give the Swedish band Avatar a go... I know you will like them & find Johannes' voice worth of a listen (or 2 or 10). They have great, creative, well-thought-out videos, but are amazing live (haven't seen them - yet, but I will, one day, along with Nightwish & Heilung). "Bloody Angel" is often the 1 reactor do first (PolandRock), but "New Land" or "Black Waters", imho, will give you a better 'taste' of his vocal ability... but anything is awesome. :)
None of the collaborations are as good as the originals. I realize they are doing the right thing for business and spreading popularity by doing so, but it’s outstanding on it’s own. Doesn’t need anything or anyone else.

The scoops you stop at 11:00 to point out, best I can tell, are a quick push of the tongue toward the roof of the mouth and back down. The pitch being sung doesn't change, but the suddenly narrower space calls up short flashes of the higher overtones.
I agree with Floor Jansen. Lzzy Hale is absolutely magnificent & this lyric & melody she added to this deep soulful Mongolian song makes it wholly accessible & understood by even the dumbest Westerner.

If you listen toward the end of the song Lzzy does Throat/Tubal singing. It is singing 2 notes at once and IS very hard to learn. I've been a vocalist for 50 years and failed miserably at trying to learn it. I could easily have easily shredded my Vocal Cords so one must be mindful of that. Lzzy Hale is one of the most talented female artists of all time, I am obsessed with Halestorm. Lzzy always uses her mouth shapes to put out that beautiful sound, very apparent in her video "I Miss The Misery" especially in the word BLAME where she is singing behind her teeth! I am new to the Hu Band but LOVE them and will attend a live concert when they are near my city!
If you love Tuvan throatsinging, be sure to check out a documentary called "Genghis Blues." It's a fascinating story of the late Paul Pena (a blues singer) teaching himself throatsinging, and then traveling to Tuva to experience the culture and even take part in a singing competition. It's an incredibly interesting look into the art and the culture that surrounds it, and the performances are awesome. It also stars the late Kongar-ol Ondar, who is arguably the most famous throatsinger ever outside of Tuva (though I think the Hu are rapidly catching up).

Honestly can't say the music and singing terms make a whole lot of sense to me so far, but definitely more than before. Oh and I think many The Hu songs may end up on my playlists in the near future.
I kinda want to see them live some time as well, but with the current state of the world I don't see that happening anytime soon.
