Thanks for this review. I've been loving my Fatty front so much that I decided to try the GT232N rear. From my research, it sounded like the 232N was similar to the Gummy, but with better durability. After only 2 hours of riding in desert sand and roots, the side knobs started getting superficial tears. Within 6 hours, big tears were on the center knobs. I was running a Maxxcross IT rear for over 2 years and was quite happy with it, but just decided to give the Goldentyre a try. I reported my experience to the shop I bought the tire from and was urged to replace it with the GT333. I'm going back to the Maxxcross IT.
I’ve never tried the 232. Almost did but I got the GT333 instead. There’s a couple threads thumpertak where people talk about the GT333 and terrain performance. I’ve got a Shinko 525 on the Xtrainer now but just got a GT333 for my mousse switch. It definitely will wear longer than the 525 but now that I have a more powerful bike I’ll see if it gets beat up or tears.
@@lostinpa-dadenduro7555 Has the XTrainer been treating you well? I'm starting to get concerned about future parts availability for my EXC 200. I have heard some bad reports of the TPI bikes and worry about all that new fangled direct injection, the need for a battery and lack of kick starts on these new bikes. Wondering if I should just woods mod a YZ250 and be good to go for the next 20+ years.
daddister Yeah a lot of guys here have Betas. They’re carb bikes but have a Keihn oil injection system. Beta sells a removal kit if you don’t want to use oil injection. The Xtrainer is cool, because it physically is not too much bigger than my KLX but has a really smooth 300 engine. It’s real good in the woods. A lot of low power and grunt. You can unleash it with a new expansion chamber and a 300 RR ECU. However, depending on how you intend to ride it the suspension can be a a big expense. I’ve orderd a full 48mm conversion from Beta and the Beta Factory Shock. You should check out the new 2019 Beta 200. Has the new Sachs ZF suspension which guys say compare very well to Kayaba. Some guys on thumpertalk have them already and rave about the 200. Also you can add a kick start kit to any of the Betas. They sell it in the a accessories section of the Beta USA site.
Howdy. I don’t ride on the street anymore so I don’t tend to look if a tire is DOT or not. When I did have dual sports like the DRZ400 I liked the Pirelli MT-21 set. On my DR I liked the Shinko 805 set. There’s probably newer tire designs out there from companies like Motoz or Mitas that are better than those.
Definitely not a tire for a mousse as you would never be able to get it soft enough. My MX216 got a lot softer after it broke in but it still is stiffer than I like. But as you said, make it to soft and turns can get interesting.

@@lostinpa-dadenduro7555 Thanks for the detailed info! I think you sold me on it
What are your favorite DOT tires these days?

ADVsquared Yeah you nailed it. It has very strange characteristics about it. It’s good but it’s not wowing me so far.
Paul Gilbert
Terry Rasor Indeed. One of my favorites. 👍
