- 24 day advent...every day a Christmas song...any genre, any artist, a long as it is a Christmas song.
I got so many...I could fill a couple of months! But off course its only 24 day up till Christmas Eve.
I also will keep my metal journey and Weeknd, Weekend...and the Thursday will stay vocal harmony cause Christmas songs often are ;-)

Yes, satire. They are Italian, and are insanely skilled musicians. They make fun of pretty much anything. For most of their existence, this was a part time gig, and for the most part, still is. They are busy doing other things, like the bassist is an astrophysicist. Many of their songs are in Italian, but always entertaining. "Uranus" is a good next tune.
Would have never guessed that they are from Italië . Great musicians and great satire !

@@MommaTaunT Their main thing is just to undermine all the pretentious, gatekeeping over-serious douchebags that tend to gather in the metal music fandom.
There are so many subtle little humorous touches in this one. My favorite bit is the instruction manual (the Holy Book of IKEA). The product name is in Futhark runes, and if translated is the name of the Drakkar, the Viking dragon-headed longship, which is also pictured on the cover. So it's the instructions you get for assembling your IKEA brand longship. And of course, it pictures the tools you will need to assemble it. You'll need a standard screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, a pencil, a double-headed battle-axe, a round Viking shield, and a mug of mead or ale. All of this for something that is shown only for a couple of seconds, and never actually addressed in the song itself. Other stuff like the Hebrew verses, Odin being Santa Claus, the church clap, Making Furniture Great Again... the list goes on and on. There are just so many chuckles in this densely-packed song from this brilliant group. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
y favourite is the Pippi Longstocking wig on the guitarist. 😁
Metal is full of really good satire acts, and Nanowar of Steel is one of the best. Other good ones are Brothers of Metal and Feuerschwanz. They essentially make fun of Scandinavian metal, but also hide plenty of obscure love letters to it in their lyrics.

@@MommaTaunT If you do watch Norwegian Reggaeton, be sure to turn on the captions. In addition to translating the parts that aren't in English (possibly not a problem for you, I don't know what languages you speak), it also contains a lot of info on the references to black metal people and events. So, it really helps get some of the jokes, if you're not already familiar with it.
Great reaction! I'm italian and I totally love NoS. In the video there are some puns which are difficult to understand if you don't speak italian. For example the word "Falegname" means "Carpenter", but they splitted in FALEGN - AMEN to fit in the gospel part.

"Nicaragua, Azerbaijan..." - Some people used to push the idea that Vikings landed in these places (usually to assert colonization rights). They never did. "Knisa grey is better than Sasha Gray" - Knisa grey is a specific shade of gray. Sasha Gray was (she retired from it) a porn star. "Gloria patri furnituribus in nomine IKEA" is jokey semi-fake Latin but it basically translates to 'Glory to the father of furniture in the name of IKEA'. And the part where the choir is singing brand names followed by product descriptions is accurate. Those are actual brands that sell those specific products.
And that movie on the TV at the end is a Dan Akroyd/Eddie Murphy comedy called Trading Places. Its Italian title translates to 'An Armchair For Two'...It's _another_ furniture gag!

The Shema is the most important prayer of the Jewish religion.. it should be Shema Israel, Adonai eloheinu... Listen israel, god our lord... They changed it into Shema Igdrasil, Odinai Eloheinu... playing off the Ygdrasil the sacred world tree, and Odin, both elements of norse mithology.
the members of the band are big time nerds and braniacs with jobs ranging from engineering to research into astrophysics... one of them works with the university of Jerusalem..
The song is chockfull of references.. like one of the guitarists wearing a pippi longstockings wig... and at the end of the video the TV is showing Trading Places, which is an absolute staple of TV broadcasting in Italy around christmas.

Of course. In most of the songs they always add some Italian references... They are Italians, it's normal. And some of them are very hard to explain to someone who not only doesn't know Italian but also doesn't know the Italian reality... I'm Italian for 16-17 years but I've been living in Italy for 27 years and I remember that I assimilated some things, customs and traditions for few years. How do you explain to someone who is not Italian the lyrics from "Norwegian Reggaeton" - where "foca" comes from the movie "W la foca" (all Italians know what foca is)

They are from Italy and satire is their thing but they are really good musicians maybe that's the reason they can pull the satire off so good. They also mentioned Systembolaget. Is the only stores we can buy alcohol from.
