Thanks for the video! I'm about embark on the same journey but I couldn't find any videos on people's experiences, only traditional cochlear implants. Hope everything is going well!
Only briefly in the doctor's office (like 3 minutes) I didn't have any other options for hearing aids that would work for me... So it was an easy decision!
@@MakennaJean oh ok ! If u dont mind me asking, why did u take so long to get the BAHA ? i saw in one of ur videos u said u were lip - reading for 10 years !! And what was the patients journey like ? Like i assume u first went to ur audiologist for a hearing test , then she referred you to the ENT ? then was it a long process to actually go for the surgery and then activate it etc ?
@@nafeesahmahomed3568 so I have a really complicated medical history. Hearing aids were never discussed before because the focus was on keeping me alive, and because I read lips so well as I lost my hearing gradually so it wasn't necessary.
Hello Makenna, thanks your video , i'm SSD too ,can you please tell me if it easily to drop down when we do strong movement like running , shake head suddenly ... ? . And can you know the where's the direction of the sound that coming form ? , or it only send sound form the bad cochlea side to the good cochlea side and , and we always think that sound come form the better side ? I sometime have headache and hear sound like wind and storm in my bad side ear , will Baha stop that , and does it resist water ? Sorry for my bad english .
Hello! I have the BAHA that attaches with a snap. It does not fall off at all, I have to snap it off like a button on a babies onsie. But, some attatch with magnets and i don't know how well those stay. Because I only have this on my right side, I cannot tell what direction sound is coming from. It is kind of annoying, but I have a service dog and he helps me out. Finally, the wind gets very loud in the microphone, so I normally turn it off when walking outside if it is very windy. Hope this answers everything :)
Hello. My daughter had her surgery Nov 15 and has been complaining of headaches since. She is also saying she’s been feeling dizzy, nauseous and for the past 2/3 days has been vomiting. Wondering if you experienced any of this?
The recovery is not fun, I did experience some of these symptoms in the first week or two, but they all faded after that and didn't last longer than a month. I would talk to her doctor if the headaches and nausea persist ❤
Makenna Jean thank you so much for replying. I was thinking the same, that it’s from her surgery. Just want to see her smiling again and feeling better.
Makenna Jean well that gives me some comfort. She’s regretting it now but I tell her it’ll all be worth it after she heals! So glad it’s working out for you.

I am very excited for you! The recovery wasn't easy, but it is worth it in the end!!!
I'm sure it was well worth it :)
I am so excited too because I was born with it but now I am going to get the Baha too
Did u do a trial BAHA before deciding to go for the surgery ?

There is a part 2 video if you are interested :)
Did You use regular hearing devices before?
No, due to my type of hearing loss, I was never able to use anything else. I was just reading lips :)
@@MakennaJean okay, by the way You are so beautiful.
