I love all your videos but this has to be your best. Rarely, anyone talks about the downsides of Notion. It's important for users to make sensible decisions on cyber risk, especially when using Notion as their one-stop shop for data.
Unrelated to the API, we REALLY need end to end encryption and an option to not cloud store our private information. Maybe a new confidential/sensitive/private setting to only sync certain things between devices.
This is a real concern, especially when you are using this in a business. Because of this, I am building my own integrations that run on my computer instead of using a 3rd party to integrate
My Notion just includes: bucketlist, to do list, shopping list, side hustle ideas etc. So I guess it’s not that bad cause there is no personal information or credit card numbers etc? Right?
Hey August! Great video once again! I was wondering if you could help me out a tad bit. So, when we share a page with let's say a few databases within it, wouldn't it be great to share the 'view' of those databases rather than forcing us to share the entire database. Imagine a sub section of notes you wish to share with your employees without giving them access to the entire content. I feel this is one of those necessary features and yet they acknowledged it and haven't made any visible progress on it for months! Maybe, you could pass it along to the community!
Good video on a very valid concern, August! Waiting for your views on lack of encryption with Notion, it's bugging me! I highly recommend you guys use n8n it's a self-hosted Zapier alternative if you are a super security freak! Word of caution - A service I would advise avoid using is Pabbly Connect. When I created a review video about the data breaches and possible security flaws of the company, they threatened me to file a lawsuit in India (there's a lack of data protection regulations). They may even sell your Life's data.
Hi August. As usual amazing content security is central, but I have worse fear... I'm terrified of a critical crash. or worse accidently wiping out say my central Task Data Base, by accident. I would be willing to pay for a back-up solution that works in the background. As my Database becomes bigger, the markdown download take progressively longer.. What would you recommend, to avoid the nightmare scenario?
I agree it would be helpful to have a personal local backup, but I don't see a big risk of Notion loosing your data -- they do have regular system wide backups on multiple servers. It would be devastating to their business model to have this be unreliable, and they are well aware of it. Incentives are aligned here. Certainly fair issue to consider, but we have to assess the realistic probability and not just think worst cases "could happen" .
Hi August, love the series, a super big fan! Big Question: is there any way to pull data from different databases into one master database? I manage different businesses and each has their own ecosystem/ what you call alignment zones & Action zones and each business has it's own team members inside. Right now, I have to review through one by one from each database and it's just a mess! Especially when organizing my "Do-Dates" and my "Deadlines/ Due Dates". Do you have a solution on this? I'd really love to have it into one master database where I review everything in one dashboard! Hope you see this! Thanks! [Pardon me for commenting on different youtube videos of yours! I really need a solution for this!]
maybe make sure you only integrate with firms that have a SOC2 type ii or similar form of independent audit report of their security controls; don't just take their word that they "take security seriously" in 2021

if someone share their thesis document in it or write the ideas on which they're going to talk about( notes for thesis), will it count as plagiarism?

Please enable UA-cam captions to your videos and thanks a lot ❤
They are enabled, and captions are added to all my videos.
but Notion is free...
Or is it? xD
When you don't pay for the product, YOU are the product.
That’s why you learn to code and use the api yourself
YO! August is still alive! I thought he died lol! Why so INACTIVE????
