🔥 Frequently Asked Questions:
Do you have a left handed version of this video? If you are left handed, you can convert ANY video on UA-cam yourself! Simply go to www.mirrorthev... and follow the instructions to mirror flip any video to convert to left handed!
How much yarn will I need? This is a very tricky question to answer as there are so many variables! How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. I suggest making a small sample first so you can gauge how much yarn you'll need. If making a crochet square, you can weigh your finished square to work out how much yarn it used!
How many squares do I need for a blanket? That all depends on the size of the square you are making and how big you want your finished blanket to be! I always advise making one square first then measuring the size of it. From there you can work out how many squares you will need to get the blanket size you want 😀
Do you have the written pattern? Yes! I have written patterns to accompany my video tutorials on my website here: www.hookedbyro... The written pattern is generally released a week or so after the video tutorial to ensure there are no errors in the video itself and to make amendments in the written version if any are found. All the written patterns are FREE to access on my website
How can I print the pattern from your website? Do you have downloadable PDF's? Not at this time no. This may change in the future but for now, I only provide the written pattern directly on my website.
Can you remake this video so it is slower? If the video speed is too fast, you can slow it down! 😀 See this video on exactly how: • How to Adjust the Spee...
Why do you use American stitch terminology? I learnt using USA stitch terms, long before I even knew there was a difference between UK & US terminology! American terms are my "first language" so to speak. If you need a conversion chart, I have one here! www.hookedbyro...

I love you for doing it flat and for making it seem so simple. I don’t do well with picture instructions so I’m thrilled with this. Thank you again👍🏻
Дякую вам за МК. Ви зрозуміло показуете, навіть і мови непотрібно знати. Лаконічне відео 👍
🤗🧶
I love this stitch and decided to try a little variation on yours, I did the same for the row in the 3rd loop, then a row with regular hdc instead of hdc in the blo, I love the look of that way too, a little more open.
Great tip Cathy, thank you for sharing.🤗🧶
Omg!!! This was great! I've been trying to learn this stitch. I think it's very pretty. The other tutorials I've seen have you working behind the stitch on the way back (where you are doing BLO). This way is SOOO much easier and looks great. Thank you!!!
I'm making a temperature blanket for 2024 and I love this stitch! I love your channel. ❤❤ Thank you, Robin!
Thank you so much and enjoy making your blanket.🥰🧶
I really like this stitch. I watched you make it in a border - and it’s planned for the afghan I’m doing now. This Camel Stitch is on schedule for a whole afghan. Such beautiful yarn on this tutorial. 🧶
Thank you Robin. I like tight afghans, so love finding your patterns using a close textured feel. ❤
Thank you so much Sue!😃🤗
Very informative and interesting. I'm a novice and I love learning new stitches. In fact I was trying to make my own pattern and wanted to do this and couldn't figure out how to do this, so thank you for this video. By the way, I love your nail polish/lacquer. Thanks again!!
Thanks alot you teach me the easiest way for this stick.
Thank you! I love that you also teach the left-handed way. I'm right-handed but still think that's a way cool thing to do.
Thank you very much for showing us how to do the camel stitch, I found it very helpful as you take your time to show us! ❤
Thank you so much Manal, I am glad it helps.😃
I love the way it looks like tracks curving from one row to the next!
Oh my gosh. You ROCK Robin! I so need videos, picures are useless to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You are my crochet favorite!!!
Awwh, thank you so much!🥰🤗
Thanks, as always, Robin. This will be my next scarf after I complete my 4th fantail/ shell shawl which I'm starting tomorrow. Really can't thank you enough for all you do! ❤
Awh, thank you so much!🥰🧶
@@HookedbyRobin thank YOU! I'm loving how different the shawl looks when done in different colors. Will try to remember to show you the latter 3 when the last, for now, is done. The first has already been gifted x
Excellent video and instructions. It was really easy to follow and easy to see what you were doing. Thanks for all you do. Much appreciated.
The best & simplest explanation I’ve seen of the rowed camel stitch! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You are so welcome!
Great stitch and very well explained thank you.
Love your channel just getting back in after 25 years
Thank you Christine and so glad you’re back to crochet.😃🤗
Holy carp this is genius 😱. I haven't been able to wrap my head around knitting. This is a life saver
This isn't knitting. It is crocheting
I know, but it looks like knit
I love your videos. You’ve been helping me overcome my crochet intimidation. Thank you!!!
Awwh, thank you so much!😃🧶
Cute stitch. And as always, you're an excellent teacher. 👏
Thank you so much Joyce! 😃
I looked at three camel stitch videos, and this one was the best & easiest. Thank you. On my way to make it.
I started crocheting last year as with my arthritis I could no longer knit. I don’t know how to read a pattern but went to a little group of knitters and picked up the basics. (I live in Italy so couldn’t read an Italian pattern though I can speak enough to get by). Well, now I’m hooked but get all my patterns from utube yours are the best. The clearest. The easiest to understand. The most interesting Thank you. Frances (Puglia). On lock down at the moment😷🦠
Thank you for such a lovely comment! Stay safe!! 😷🦠🦠😱
Beautiful stitch you are amazing teacher tank you very much
Lovely Robin, thank you. I'm putting this stitch into a quick hat. Happy day! 🙏⚘🥰
thank you sooo much I was trying to crotchet a blanket using the camel stitch and could not get past the 1st row you have made it so much easier for me...thank you
Thankyou for filming this video in close up...so we can see where you are placing your stitches...well done!
Thank you for the perfect demonstration n explanation, you r a great teacher!
Thank you so much for showing us all the lovely designs.
Update. I was doing it in single crochet, so changed to half double slip stitch in front loop and it works. Working with wool and no way to get hook under the front loop, just so hard, so I’m using a slip stitch in back loop with a larger hook and it’s creating the knit look both sides. I’ll try again with different yarn. Thanks. Your tutorials are easy to follow and I enjoy making many of your crochet patterns. Crocheting from Tassie. We are now in winter. ❤
You’re so welcome and I’m glad you managed it!😃🧶
Wonderful video with simple and clear instructions.
This is another great stitch to use for a warm scarf.
Yes absolutely!
Gracias Robin me salvaste , no podía acordarme de ese hermoso punto y ahora sí gracias a vos lo puedo hacer ¡¡¡ 🤩🤩
Thankyou for sharing this new stitch
I love all your videos!! I’m a knitter and crocheter. I love this stitch!!
I think I'll use this for my other curtain. I have five to cover: one each in the two front bedrooms, one in each of the two in my bay windows, and one very wide one in my kitchen.
That is a great idea Patricia!😃
Thanks a new stitch. Your a great teacher ❤
I LOVE THIS STITCH TYVM , I CAN'T WAIT TO MAKE BLANKETS FOR THE WINTER SEASON.
TYVM ROBIN IM HAVING INTERNET ISSUES OFF AND ON , IM NOT SURE IF I CAN FINISTGE VIDEO.
WOW that was awesome. I haven't ever seen that stitch before. That would be great for a scarf or a small blanket or placemats and coasters. Thank you for the tutorial.
It's perfect for scarves!
Thank you for sharing this is a new camel stitch you I didn’t know how to do this stitch...thank you for demonstrating how to make the camel stitch 🤔
Thank you so much. The other HDC videos were hard to grasp. Yours was so much easier. Will look at your channel.and subscribe.

Tjank you, that is a very nice stitch.
Thank you for this tutorial! I'm trying to do this stitch on a pillow cover with a soft white color. I think it'll be fantastic.

Love this stitch!!!!
Love this stitch! Thank you so much for sharing!
Love the look and clear precise instructions! Thank you.
🐪 Nice pattern. I never heard of the camel stitch 💓
Thank you so much Pat, it is a lovely stitch! 😃
I love this stitch
🥰🧶
Love this stitch and you have demonstrated it beautifully👍❤️
You can also do it so that when the front of your work is facing you, you put your hook in the back of your work, under the v and on top of the third loop, then weave back under the third loop and work the half double crochet from there. I hope I explained that well enough.
Thank you for this tutorial - love this stitch, and now I know how to do it thanks to you! :)
I saw so many tutorials telling me to working into the 3rd loop for the return row, I’m so happy I found this tutorial! Saved me so much suffering 😂😅
🥳 I’m glad it helps!
Many thanks for a beautiful new pattern for me, I will look for the camel stitch in the round..
Perfect tutorial, thank you, best one there is.
👏🏼♥️🥰Love, Love, Love👏🏼♥️🥰
Yayyy🤣 thx so much!!!👍🏼♥️🥰
Hi Robin. Using this lovely stitch for a man’s afghan with a chunky yarn. My ends are curling however, and wondered if that is normal with a chunky yarn and after blocking will it improve or is there a border I could do on the ends to alleviate the issue? Thanks so much!😀
Wonderful design thank you
I love this video....made understanding the stitch so much easier! I have a question: how do I keep my scarf from curling up on itself? I did this stitch and in the beginning it laid flat but as the scarf got longer it started to curl inward. I kept my stitches fairly loose to try and prevent the curling. Please help.
Brilliant! Thanks
Thank you very much. I had almost worked out how to do this flat but it was very frustrating. Now I know. I was wondering if there was a way to get the V's closer like they are when done in the round. I love what you have done but still would like the look as done in the round
Would the Camel Stitch be stretchy like a ribbed Stitch we use at the bottom of a sweater sleeve? BTW, I LOVE your videos! Your voice tends to relax me, so I really enjoy your tutorials! Thank you so much!
Yes it is nice and stretchy! Maybe even a bit too stretchy - it might not be as neat over time for a sweater? I'm not sure if maybe sc in the back loop type ribbing would be better for sweater cuff to keep its shape if it gets lots of use 🤔
Love your tutorials as they move along very well. I’m going to make a cowl using this stitch and wondered if doing another row of regular HDC in between the front bat HDC would work? I realize the space between ribbing would be larger. Thanks very much.
Great stitch. would like to try making socks and that looks like a great cuff. Do you have a tutorial on a simple sock?
Look in ravelry hon
Great! Stitch.❣
Love this!!!
Thank you! What yarn did you use? It’s gorgeous!!
Thank you James! 😃 It is Hayfield Spirit Chunky in Sundown.
Love this ❤❤❤
🥰🧶
Cool!! Thank you oh so much!
I just made a hat with this stitch
💚 it x's Infinity!
Hermoso belloooo gracias por su enseñanza saludos desde Chile
Excellent ❤
thanks for the tutorial!
You are a great teacher! What yarn are you using?
Thank you!😃I used Hayfield Spirit Chunky in Sundown.
That is great stitch! I am glad you showed this to us. What patterns do you have for this stitch
I have a blanket coming on Friday! The border has this stitch 👍
Good afternoon, Robin. I was watching you last night, Jan 6, 2024. I'm trying to find the pattern where you did a half-double crotchet stitch but I think, you went in front of the post and the next stitch was in the back post in a half double crotchet. Please can you do that one again. Thank you so much.
Hi Laura, did you manage to find it? All my crochet stitch videos are here 😀: ua-cam.com/play/PLP0pPGx0kI88XESUxbu1o9gnM7cazQXOY.html&si=6tlhMkxmiHbTSPHd
Sorry if I have asked this of you in the past, but - what is the brand name of all of the beautiful and cheerful variegated yarns you use? Also - what size crochet hook are you using?
Thank you, Robin.
Love to crochet and I thoroughly enjoy your tutorials. I am also a nail polish junkie..girl what polish is on your nails??
it's Rimmel 60 Seconds in shade "Bestival Blue"
@@HookedbyRobin thank you! I must have that one!! ❤
Muchas gracias muy bien explicado!
I am using this stitch for a baby blanket and also for a normal blanket
😃🧶
Thanks for liking & for commenting on my comment Miss Robin. I like your British accent a lot 😁
I will tag you in my Facebook post when I am done with Crocheting the Camel Stitch for my normal blanket. I promise
What kind of yarn are you using? I like the subtle color changes
I'm using Hayfield Spirit Chunk in Sundown :D www.snufflebeanyarn.co.uk/collections/yarn/products/sirdar-hayfield-spirit-chunky?variant=21501928767572&ref=7
Love this stitch. Good instructions. What size hook are you using?
I'm using a 7mm hook :-)
If I wanted to make the "receding" row one colour and the thick row anotjer colour, when would I have to switch colours?
I have no idea what I’m doing wrong, but I end up getting two bulky raised rows, and wavy edges.
it would look great as a cuff. thanks for sharing the pattern and video.
Wha are are the multiples of the foundation row? Thank youi -
Is it multiples of 2 for the starting chain row?
Is there a way to do this stick for a brim and do the alpine for the hat?
Very beautiful تسلم ايدك
Going one direction one of my kind of drops or goes up. Any idea why?
Robin: "If I'm going too fast, feel free to slow the video down."
Me: **giggling** "I'm watching at 150% speed so... nope!"
😂😂😂😂 I must sound like a chipmunk 😂😂😂😂
@@HookedbyRobin Not at all, just slightly manic! :D (The UA-cam speed-up function doesn't really change the pitch.)
@@idlewildwind 😂
I'm not a knitter, so to me there's nothing faux about it. It is real, as real can be!!! LOL!!!!
