    I am a happy owner of a 2022 TRK502X. I've purchased it in Sep 2022.
    In just one year, I drove it over 30,000 km.
    I drove it in mountains, desert, rocky paths, muds, and all other places you can imagine except rivers!
    I drove it in HOT Summer 50+ C (122 F), in chilly winter, in heavy rains, in 64km/h (40+ mile) wind gusts.
    In my trips, I carry 70+ kg of luggage plus my own weight --92kg.
    I've dropped it so many times that - in fact - I cannot remember and TBH, I do not care to count anymore :)
    Also, I've added so many electronics to it, e.g. GPS powered mount, USB superfast lighter charger, four fug lights, flashing brake lights, USB/Type C plugs for camera and cardo charging, front and rear dash cameras, and a power air pump. With all of that on bike, I had ZERO issues with the power or electricity.
    Now, after passing the 30K on the odometer, I can say it NEVER let me down in any trip or adventure. In my adventures, I go with others who own T7s, 800/1200/1250GS, 390/1290 KTMs, HD 1250 and so many other bikes. Every place they were in, I was there too on my TRK502X.
    I've done the 30k service, by myself on my home-garage, changed the sprockets, the chain, and all consumable parts. The bike is a new bike again and yes it was easy maintenance, it took just couple days.
    Hearing this guy talking, make me think if he really tried the bike for a decent time! Based on what I've heard, it seems, he just took it for a two-day ride! In fact, I can say he never tested the TRK502X, based on the review he made.
    I am not saying the CB500X is bad though! Also, I am not saying the TRK502X is a perfect bike too! But it is either this guy has no clues whatsoever on what he is talking about, or he is just want to intentionally misleading others!
    Anyway, I don't know this guy and I have no problem with him, what is he saying is his own business, but for me - and based on my 30,000+ KM experience with the TRK502X - I see this is just a ridiculously cheap ad. So, I quit the video on 59:11 and went to watch other real reviewers.
    P.S. I am planning to upgrade my TRK502X to the TRK800.

      Just try any dual-sport - you will understand what I was talking about, and your perception of how a motorcycle should ride off-road will change.

      Hmm, this is getting more - and more - stranger!
      So, referring to your reply, I can safely assume that you reviewed and compared these "Adventure" bikes as "Dual Sport" bikes.
      Well!!! I am sorry to tell you are mistaken and now I am 110% - yes, it is 110% - certain you have no clue on what you are doing. Why?
      Because if you visit the manufacturers websites of all the three bikes, you will see all of them are introduced as Adventure bikes not as Dual Sport bikes. And to help you, these are some of the differences between Adventure bikes and Dual Sport bikes:
      - Weight: Adventure bikes: Heavy / Dual Sport bikes: light
      - Cylinders: Adventure bikes: Twin / Dual Sport bikes: Single
      - Fuel range: Adventure bikes: Long / Dual Sport bikes: Short
      - Seat: Adventure bikes: comfortable / Dual Sport bikes: hard
      - Electronic Riding Aids: Adventure bikes: many / Dual Sport bikes: none (ABS / TC / ATC / driving modes.... etc)
      - Tyres: Adventure bikes: 70/30 / Dual Sport bikes: Off-road
      - Frame: Adventure bikes: Strong / Dual Sport bikes: light
      Now, and after letting you know the difference between the two categories, I have become more certain that this review was conducted based on wrong assumption based on the confusion you have.

      same here, I drive a trk 502x since 2021, 50000 km and no communting only long trips (with no highways :p)
      I drove my "Bernolda" up to 3000m onto the alps (on rocky path as well) to France, to the spaniards deserts, she never had a single problem.
      Yes it's true, it isn't a light dual sport and the front suspension doesn't have a lot of excursion, but it allows you to go virtually everywhere
      Check the youtube channel "Zero Highways" he is an Italian guy (the same as me xD) that drove his Benelli trk 502x from Rome to Nepal with a lot of dirt roads ;)

    I own the cb500x 2020 since new and have ridden it all over Australia with no issues. It's not perfect and does not do any one thing perfect, but it does everything pretty good. You could argue more power etc., but it will overtake a road train, and doesn't struggle at the speed limits. Could also argue better suspension, this is true but I haven't had a problem over the rough stuff. I have 41,000 km on the bike, have serviced it myself, and about to do a 4000 km tour from Sydney to Tasmania. I'm thinking of buying a Transalp, but honestly the 500x does the job and will still get me to work and back every day post tour, what else could I want

    CB500X is bike that one can buy and live with it all life, if it fits rider ergonomically. There are many better bikes for specific purpose but, the value, versatility, economy and all other is hard to beat.

    I’ve owned a CRF1000 Africa Twin, a CRF1100 ATAS, Aprilia Tuareg 660, KLR 650 a Harley Pan America and now the 2022 CB500X.
    The CRF1000 was my forever bike until it and I lost a battle with a mini van. The Pan America is electronic garbage. The ATAS was too heavy due to my new titanium infused legs. The CB500X is a great bike. I’m 240lbs and yea, I upgraded the rear shock to support my weight and pannier load. I just rode from eastern PA to Nashville, down to Alabama and back. Close to 3,000 miles. I commute every day on it often cruising at 75mph on highway. The bike performs flawlessly. On highway I get over 50mpg. Back roads I get 70mpg.
    Spec sheet reviews often fail to show the real picture. Also, you’re review is skewed because you clearly prefer high tech, high performance bike that cost way more than these 500cc bikes. You assume they can simply fix the issues you think the bikes suffer from. Everything you said just drive up costs.

    All very interesting but have you actually ridden the Benelli ? I suspect not. In the UK the Honda is £2000 MORE than the benelli. The Benelli has 50mm upside down forks twin front discs with Brembo derived calipers. engine bars ABS rear carrier usb power port. Most of your observations are entirely subjective . The engine doesn't vibrate just a very slight high end buzz. The engine actually feels like a mult and reminds me of the old Honda 400 four , as is mentioned in virtually every professional review i , the 360 crank on a 500 is entirely irrelevant. It certainly does NOT vibrate like a single!! It has more than than adequate torque , its tractable easy to ride with decent basic suspension. The transmission is slick and smooth with no false neutrals , the clutch is light with a predictable bite point. It's not the best selling bike in italy for no reason , the Trk 502 handles well with predictable turn in , and it inspires confidence.. Your ludicrously nit picking review is really misleading. Most riders looking at these bikes would not notice most of the so called "Weird" problems whatever that means ! with the TRK , they certainly would notice an Extra £2000 in their pocket. Needless to say i own a TRK and have ridden bikes for over 50 years.

      Durability ? Low maintenance cost? I have 2021 cb500x model, the pump dropped oil since 570km. Now it has 12000km and I need to change the steam bearings, it was not tight from the factory. It wobbled from new because of the tires. The bolts are like rubber, I have 3 that got longer. And one of the rear wheel bearings it feels different from the other, I don't know how many km it will go. Good Honda quality.... About the cost, the first one was 120euros and the second it would have been around 220 euros at Honda's dealers . Not cheap. I don't even want to thing how much it will cost a full service on cb500x (oil, spark plugs and valve clearance check). If I made the oil change it will cost me around 50 euros. Just to have a comparison.

      @@SHT5029 man, you just have to learn to do your own maintenance and simple repairs, everything is on YT and it's really simple. I believe you were writing about water pump not oil pump.. You are right, quality even of Honda products is worse now than in the past, I think CB500X is put together in Taiwan or Thailand.

    I just took my ct1300 on a 3,000 mile roadtrip through appalachia and I really regretted not taking my cb500x which I usually take. cb500x almost as comfortable cruising as my 1300 but so many little backroads I couldn't go down that would of been no problem on my cb500x. Cb500x is a hell of a good backroad touring bike.

      I'm here pretty late. What annoys me is I'm damn sure Honda can make a 500cc engine with a lot more than 46Hp. But there's no kit, or even upgrade that you can easily get for it. I definitely think Honda could sell those kits or upgrades if they could be bothered making them. (Still looking for the Unicorn)...

    Thank you very much for investing in this video clip. This is a video that puts the finger precisely on the differences between a 500cc and 300cc engine. The obvious conclusion: if you have enough money, it is better that you concentrate on a 500cc motorcycle and it is better that it be made by the reliable Honda.

      My first ever motorcycle was a Honda XR 75 motocross bike. I got it for my birthday in 1976. These days I still actually have three Honda bags, but they are mopeds two Honda wave and 100. But my real bikes are a Ducati scrambler café racer, Ducati, Nightshift, 2022 scrambler, Ducati monster 795 in red, another Ducati monster 7955 in tricolor, an MV, Augusta, brutale 800, and an MV Augusta, brutale 1090, and a Harley Davidson, 883 iron bored out to 1275 cc, a Yamaha XSR, and the Diablo 650 custom by K speed Thailand, and one of these Benelli 520 X, oh, and a royal Enfield scram 411…. I don’t use the Hondas my wife does when she goes shopping.

    Great video! Thanks for telling the truth about these bikes, especially the Benelli TR! A lot of vloggers simply put in the "good" aspects so that they will be allowed by dealers to review more of their bikes. Unfortunately though, they give misleading reviews. Keep up the good work! Would like to see you do more reviews!

    Versys 1000 can not be converted to a2. It can be converted to 35 kw but that is not a2 category. Max original power must be below 70 kw😊. One of the best reviews i have ever seen.

    Ok I was considering the Honda 300 l or ktm 390. 5' 8" at 270 Lbs needing 75 lb stuff the cb 500 entered into my group for larger size. I an willing to do something like the Rally Rave suspension witch is not offered on the cb. Now divorced and retired looking to spend 90 days in every South American Countries 2 and single lane trecks calling the trip the Pan American adventure. What would be your reccomdation?

    Am an older rider looking for mostly town with some tour possibility so considering many bikes at present from 350cc to 650cc , this gave me some great info to consider.

    I get what your saying about the size of bike, but there is another side to it, even ignoring the weight if you venture off-road. Sometimes the most fun can be had getting all there is out of a bike rather than riding well within it's capabilities. Depending on where you live it can be quite hard to constantly exceed the speed limits without picking up a fine or two, so riding a big capably bike well within it's capabilities and staying legal is easy, the bike takes care of everything. For long distances that is a good thing I guess, but for days out and shorter rides a lot of fun can be had riding a smaller bike closer to it's limits and keeping you license a little longer :-)

    I must confirm: the newer 550cc is indeed 270° configuration, while the earlier 500cc are either 180° or 360° (that I forgot but can verify if needed)

      p.s. - a straight up comparison of QJMOTOR 550 and CB500X + power charts .. might've been interesting. KOVE was a surprise I should say, too bad there ain't a 270° option for us crossplane addicts 😅

      while 270° partially recreates V engine character, the 360° does the same as a flat boxer like BMW's .. I understand the facts & points you made, my point is just additional

      @@generaldistrust In the boxer (flat? Of course) the movements of the pistons are fully equilibrated, in a 360° parallel twin they aren't up-down (only left-right) and you need a countershaft. In a 180° the mass are equilibrated up-down but not left-right. The 270° is a good compromise because when a piston is at top or bottom dead center the other one is moving at maximum speed and viceversa.

      my all-time fav character is the 270°, not 285°, and even the 360° which is better than 180° IMH(umble)O because how universally usable it is..
      look at what CFMOTO's 450cc engine is doing nowdays .. I am still praying for an ADV with this amazing compact powerplant. They have a 180° 700cc "CL-X ADV" , which is so sad because I would've set a mission to get it if only it was a 270° or a 360° ..
      now all I have left is to hope that after the SS\SR and the NK (all 450cc crossplane), there will come a 450cc CL-X ADV or another ADV bike to complete this 450cc lineup....

    I think the middleweight is the sweet spot for me I got the new Transalp and I like it a lot it’s really good on the road and off road as long as you have a good skid plate

    I think it is worth considering the Kawasaki Versys-X 300, as it has a similar power to weight ratio as the CB500X. Very good for most application, the only major downside is having to rev it for highways speeds. It does have room for takeovers, nowhere nearly as comfortably at 120km/h as at 80km/h, yet there is room to accelerate up to 140km/h in a timely fashion.

      No, cb500x is more powerful, 245 bhp/ton, while Versys-X 300 is 220bhp/ton. And it has double the torque, so almost twice as much power through rev range.

      I had TRK502. Built quality is not that good. Especially welding quality is terrible. Center of gravity is very high. It makes the bike feel even heavier. I sold it just after 10.000 km. Seat was fine though.

    Ive been riding on the GS 310 around 10k kms (including 2 longer trips ca. 3k kms each) and i was thinking of getting a bigger bike, the gs performs quite well till 100 km/h rides well in corners too, the biggest issue is you don't want to ride on highway's, I usually just do around 110-115 km/h on them, but try to stick to backroads most of the time, the vibrations are there but u get used to them; i was thinking of getting honda cb500x mostly due to economy, because bigger bikes not only are far more expensive but also use up more fuel which is just getting more and more expensive

    luckily in China there are many dealership of KOVE and many upgrade parts on the market, so i choose the KOVE 500 and yes I think your review is quite right

    3:13 min: The Honda CB500X consumes between 2.8L to 3.8L per 100km depending on how hard you're riding it. How's that a bigger fuel consumption than a comparable spec single cylinder engine? (For reference, Honda CB500X 2019/...)

    Very interesting review! I'm looking for a bike for everyday use (commuter), including city riding, that's light (maximum 180kg), with reasonable power (at least 40hp) and some light off-road capability. From my research, the KTM 390 Adventure and Triumph Scrambler 400 X stand out. Then there are others like the Honda CB/NX 500, the CD Moto MT 450 or the new RE Himalayan, which are heavier but fulfil the other requirements. What do you think would be the best option? Cheers

      Half of these bikes we haven't seen yet, except at shows. :)
      KTM 390 Adv is very uncomfortable in terms of engine/ergo - it will suit few people. CFMoto and Himalayan are promising.
      CFMoto - 2 cylinders, usually means a smoother and more comfortable engine. The previous Himalayan was comfortable enough, with a unique for the class low-revs retro engine (cruisers style), and for off-road was better, so I have hopes for the new gen. Sure, the CB500X is flawless as a commuter, but it's not so good for off-roading. Need to wait CFMoto/new Himalayan owners reviews.

    Voge's engine is manufactured by Loncin and it's their own project, an 80% copy of the Honda PC44E engine from Honda's CB500 lineup, an engine that is no longer in production since the current one (improved and changed in several aspects) is the PC62E.
    The engine used in the Brixton 500 is another copy of the same Honda engine but this time manufactured by the Chinese manufacturer Gaokin.

    Nice video. Would love to see a video about the NC750x. I bought one in November of 2022 and I've put 6000 kms on it. The only complain I have, being a tall guy, is wind protection in the highway, even with a tall screen.

      @Joca It is alternative to a scooter in city with DCT. I had a previous generation NC750X for the city commute (actually, it is now in the garage, but I don’t use it anymore). If you have a new generation from 2021, it has much better suspension. I tried 2 screens - more or less found a suitable one, but with an additional spoiler. The seat was also changed to a gel one, but still, the NC does not have enough comfort for long trips.

      I've tested NC750x twice I really like this bike but... almost there. Still too heavy, very small storage (not even for bigger helmet), chain. Not really commuting bike, not adventure as well.

    3 years ago I tried those exact same bikes. The TRK was too big and a bit slow, the Honda too expensive and the Voge was just right : a bit more protection than the Honda and no negatives. Plus at the time the Honda didn't have dual disc and inverted suspension. No issues and absolutely no regrets since. I have yet covered the price difference from Voge to Honda in service 😊

      @Biker Minimal ? In my country (Greece) Voge 500DSX costs 6345€, while the CB500X costs 8000€. If you include the equipment that comes with the Voge 500DSX, you would have to add another 1500€ into the Honda in order to have 2 equally equipped bikes, so the tota price difference realistically is more than 3000€, which is not minimal at all

    I am seeing quite a few of the Benelli 502's around here in Argentina. Price is good about $8000 to $9000. A Honda CB500x is about $17000. I have been looking at a Royal Enfield Intercepter 650 and waiting for the Himalayan 450

    In my 4 months experience as a rider, with the love of adv bikes(hate sportsbike😂) i love the trk design, but its really heavy,better buy 702x, power to weight ratio its really not right. Venturi or kove is one of the best seller here. And the after sales is better than benelli. But illl go with honda,😂 but cant decide if ill go to nc750 or cb500x.. my dominar 400 will have a new brother😂

    The suspension is short because it’s made for shorter inseam. I don’t want to do the Dakar Rally. So this is good for me. It is a small bike to take camping so the wife and I can explore little towns around the U.S.. I got mine with a complete Rally Raid kit. It’s light enough to take comping but heavy enough NOT to get blown off the road from big trucks.
    If I want something faster than I have my ZRX or 1977KZ 650. I don’t know if you can have an ADV bike suited for a smaller /shorter legged person.

      The MT650 is a more interesting, because not just engine is copied, but geometry too. Plus, CFMoto is a higher level production since KTM trusted them with the assembly.
      Unfortunately, I haven't tried any CFmoto - they are not popular in my area.

      I had NC. This is a good alternative to a scooter if you really want a motorcycle in big city. Plus, with minor modifications (windscreen), it is quite suitable for travel. Without expectations of dynamics, etc. As a first bike it's one of the best - very friendly, very reliable. But boring. :)

    I'm in the process of thinking of moving up from my 300cc Voge AC (my first bike) and thinking of moving to light adv bikes because my motorcycle is also my main vehicle and I need one that is easy to filter in traffic but can also take terrible italian road conditions and the occasional light unpaved road to reach my workplace (I'm a photographer so I might have to reach a villa or a location with, say, a gravel road.)
    That said, I've researched A LOT of bikes and one thing that often escapes CB500X reviews is that the headlight is trash. If you do any sort of night riding (I do, a lot) it's a no go. You need to invest like 1k more into aux lights which ruins the price proposition even further.
    The Voge 500, TRK 502 and Honda CB500X both share an identical technical issue which is water pump failure. I think they all use the same part, or similar. It just fails often, 8-10k km if you're unlucky, 30k if you're lucky, it will fail. It's not dangerous (it will start leaking white and warn you before it just dies) but it put the bike off the road for a while as it gets repaired. There, the Honda wins because their shops would surely be the fastest at getting the part and fixing the bike up.
    One motorcycle that isn't mentioned but actually fits into the price range is the Voge 650 DSX which is actually what I've been looking at the most. The engine is bulletproof, as it's a former Rotax design used on the BMW F 650 GS from 2000, I've never read any major complaints with it. Only downside is that it only has 5 gears owning to its old design.

    Love my cb500x. Learn your bike. It should be a part of you. Ppl are getting too out of hand with tech and all. But all I have to say is. Any bike is capable of anything.

    I think you are incorrect about the kind of suspension budget bikes have these days. Cue the Himalayan, the new Himalayan, the Scram 411, the triumph scrambler, the TVS Apache 310.
    In fact many of your complaints are specifically about the 500 class bikes. There are better bikes in the 200-300 class. And even in the 500 class there are really good bikes now.

    Acceleration on the KTM 390 Adventure is better than the Honda 500, top end is around 100 -105mph but it’s happy at 80 mph all day, has traction control and abs and adjustable forks and shocks and lcd dashboard and crucially weighs tons less and costs less
