As a Caribbean person living in Europe, I'm jealous of your Bandania (Saw Tooth Coriander) patch. It looks amazing.

We love it! 😋😋😋It grows like a weed here. It is all through the lawn and we don't even care lol

@@vintagefoodfarm It's the same back home in the Caribbean as well. It grows like a weed there also and is used in many of our dishes, especially the ones with meat.
It's a struggle growing them here in Europe because of the cold. Indoors can be battle with fungus gnats and outdoors when sown in the warm weather are loved by slugs and snails.

Just realised that culantro/saw tooth coriander is also called chadon beni - which is available in the Caribbean ! So glad as I'm getting tired of struggling with regular coriander ! 😊😊

Thank you for this post. love your enthusiasm and cheerful demeanour ❤. You literally have and Asian fresh grocery store on your farm😊. I'm glad I found your video on sawtooth coriander as I've just bought 1 baby plant online. Obsessively babying it to make sure it grows well. I am in Adelaide opposite weather to you...Wish me luck😅

Awesome!!! 🤠So glad you liked the video!!! Sawtooth coriander is the bomb!!! We have just found a recipe that we can't stop making where you blitz the flower/seed heads with oil, garlic and lemon juice to make a green sauce/pesto!! It is fantastic 🤠Good luck with your plant and let us know how you go 😁Have a great day!

Interesting fact: sawtooth coriander doesn't contain the chemical compound that causes people (cursed) with certain gene to taste it as "soapy" so it's a great alternative to people who have that gene and want to experience what coriander tastes like. I've tried to introduce it to some friends who can't have coriander due to the soapy flavour but there's probably something psychological in it as well as they can't even get pass the strong aroma. One of my absolute favourite herbs. Trying to grow it here in FNQ.

You just gave a wealth of info right there. Mine is in full sun here in Florida & the leaves are so sharp they could reach out & bit you. Also, mine has tons of seeds without too many leaves. My leaves that I do have are tiny. I got my plant at a box store here in the States, wonder if you have a different species. I also have a 50% shade cloth, but the way the wind blows, think it exposes whole plant to full sun. Thank you for this information. I will be writing those tips in my garden book I keep for gardening. Love this plant in so many recipes, especially making salsa for tacos. The flavor is a bit stronger than cilantro, but that bolts too quickly.
    No wonder why. :)

Welcome!! 🥰Florida!!! That's amazing!! We have such similar climates! 😁A new thing we now do is take the spikey seed heads into a bullet blender with garlic, oil, lime juice and salt and blitz it into a green coriander pesto sauce that taste amazing!!! Because we are using the flowers the leaves stay nice a big! win win 😁👍Have a great day!! 😊

Beautiful garden! Looking to add sawtooth coriander to the garden this year.
Side note: hope the lemongrass I planted doesn't get that large. 😂 That's like the 3rd thing in that planter I've said that about.
