Hi 👋, thank you for the upload 😀! I'm new to your channel! I Love Cilantro ! They smell wonderful ! Winter time here 12-2020 so can't wait to plant Cilantro in the house!
There's some great information in this video. I'm confused about soil temperature. Why do all my seed packets suggest planting when there's frost or at least cold weather?
Your Cilantro seed packets say that? Some plants for sure can be planted in colder ground (beets, carrots, peas)....but not Cilantro. It won't germinate.
I see that cirlantro has shallow roots but I don"t know why the roots usually stay above the soil after bringing them home from the store although the pot is big and deep. Great video.
Hey Karen, I have a friend who swears by it in her scrambled eggs! For us, we use it in Indian Salad. So cut up all your veggies, lemon juice, salt, shredded ginger, and then cilantro. Its amazing with Tandoori Chicken, but honestly, it goes with ANY spicy dish! Chicken salad...that sounds delish! I wonder if tuna salad would be good for it too?
Well, you just answered my questions. Back to the "planting board" 😆This is the weirdest herb out there- in my opinion. 2 in my house hate it- tastes like soap. But they love coriander. And then 2 love cilantro, and coriander upset's their stomach.
Light is all-important to any plant but you mentioned nothing about the light requirements when growing cilantro indoors! Seed packet says it needs "full sunlight" if planted outdoors, so how does one supply enough light indoors? Do you put it next to a brightly-lit window all day, or will it do okay with moderate light? I have a west-facing kitchen window that gets about 4-5 daily hours of afternoon sunlight, don't think that's going to be enough. Can you use a grow light successfully for cilantro if you don't have any bright windows?

Hey Aparna, we actually don't. They do surprisingly well in low light, especially when the plants are bigger. They do better with more light, for sure. A sunny window sill is best!
I love your videos! I'm a total newbie to growing and I live in some of the harshest conditions - South Texas heat, but north-facing apartment (NO direct sun ever!), postage-stamp-size deck, tiny stuffed apartment lol. So I was excited to see cilantro on the list of herbs that could be grown in shade because they'll tolerate it. Never heard of the heat source you use to germinate your seeds though? What's that? :) Thank you so much!!
That IS a tough place to grow! For sure though, take advantage of pairing up the plants with spaces they can utilize. Even grow indoors, like this Cilantro here, as well as Basil and Oregano! For my heat source, I just use a heat mat. You can use one designed for seeds, or even the ones for pet reptiles...same technology!
Last year I bought a bag of cilantro seeds in the spice section at the grocery, they did not sprout, should they have or do they do something to them, or is it something I did wrong. It gets very hot in CA.

I live in Victoria and have had not luck with cilantro!
Colantro is nice i like planting it
Definitely up there with Basil for my favorite herbs!
That paper towel trick was just a wonder!
Love your videos
Cheers Monika, thanks for watching! :-)
Thanks bro i'll give it a go .
Thank you for sharing this 👍🌱
Cheers Tam, thanks for watching!
Will the sprouts from the germination test work if I plant them?
Totally they will Delitza! 🙂
Fantastic! Thank you 😃👍👍👍🎈
Very comprehensive. Thanks.
I really like your videos. Full of information and you solved my coriander indoor growing problem. Thank you!
Really great details. Cilantro has frustrated me year after year!!!
Thank you you explain easy way 🤩👍🙏🏻
Hi there! Any advice on what I can use to prevent the spider mite and other creatures of destroying the plant? Thanks in advance.
Hi Jeff (Geoff?). Do I need to purchase a grow light to grow this inside? Thanks. (Hey, nice set of power tools you have!)
Hi Miriam, I've found that Cilantro can easily grow with indirect light from a sunny window or with just the regular lights in your house. :)
What do you suggest for light for growing this indoors?
Hey Stu, Cilantro is very undemanding for light. Sunny window sill is best, but even a bright room or some artificial light will suffice!
Just waiting for mine to sprout as I planted 5 herbs a week ago, parsley, basil and thyme sprouted but 10 seeds of cilantro (maybe because I break it apart cause I saw some does that) and probably damaged it also rosemary have no luck yet, thanks 🙏 for the tips still keeping my fingers cross they sprouts soon, if not will resent some. 🙏🇨🇦🎄
Hey Seddy! Yeah, I find Rosemary seeds to take forever....interesting that you got Thyme to sprout so quickly! Awesome! What kind of soil are you using?
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms it surprises me myself and I got one of the jiffy professional greenhouse base trays and clear dome with 72 peat pellets as my starter. I already prepared for transplant with pro-mix Mchronize with your amendments (thank God☺️thank you 😊my savour) as I have 3. zucchini, 3.cucumber, 2.peas, 3.beans, 6.tomatoes, 4 peppers, 2. butter squash 4. mint ..lol 🤣 that will need transplant soon .. so I got grow lights and a 5 shelves stand to put them with the right lights for proper care.
2 slips sweet potatoes, rusett potatoes, avocado, mango, tumeric, ginger, garlics and pineapple.. unbelievably. I can’t believe it.. my goodness. Growing in my apartment. My mom laughs 😂 at me and calling me a squirrel 🐿 lol 🤣
What do u think..?🙏🥰
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms Oh Also 🤣planted Dates seeds: I have 2 trees since this spring, Aloe Vera 5plants in (1pot) money plant, lucky bamboo, a mini palm, peace lily and 2 fern tree. I’m plant 🌱 passionately 🙏🇨🇦
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms oh forgot,
2 lemon 🍋 1 mandarin/tangerine, 8ths old, from seeds, 1 mango 🥭 and hibiscus 🌺 few months old. Presently trying persimmons and rambutan seeds 😂.. don’t have luck with rosemary for sometime now, even if I buy the plant it eventually dies. But I have to get it so trying the seeds.crazy eh..!!!🙏🇨🇦
@@Pubgfetiz crazy! Are you doing those tropical fruits indoors?
What about sunlight in winters? Do we need to use grow lights then?
Hey Aparna, we actually don't. They do surprisingly well in low light, especially when the plants are bigger. They do better with more light, for sure. A sunny window sill is best!
Making your own planter box? Now your showing off.😂Good job. Thanks for the video. I look forward to more👍🏾🪴
ha ha thanks, not trying to! :-)
Thank you for this.
Very informative video!
Thanks, appreciate the support. :-)
Mystery Solved! Thank you. I was curious when/where the actual cilantro leaves would emerge from the sprouts. #firsttimegrowerhere
Yeah, right out of the center, that's where all the action is, LOL! Thanks for watching Nancy! :-)
7:29 Brilliant!!!
Right? Works for so many seeds....and literally all herbs! :-)
When growing inside do you need a grow light?
Last year I bought a bag of cilantro seeds in the spice section at the grocery, they did not sprout, should they have or do they do something to them, or is it something I did wrong. It gets very hot in CA.
I think some are irradiated
In your other Cilantro video you say to only water from the bottom. Which is correct? thank you.
