I’m doing the same. I’m somewhere between needing a high end sander and being done with my Harbor 1x30 and file jig. This fits what I need.
😛
Same here brother
This grinders are now on SALE for $270 plus $30 for shipping until August 19th, Too bad I ordered one just 4 days ago,
It's called a flat platen,not plantom,but good review.
great video. I am on the same boat.
Question tp anyone. Can you buy this grinders
on Ebay or Amazon or only from Grizzly. Thanks.
I’ve only seen it on Grizzlies website.
Thanks so much for your answer. Amazon have a
lot of Grizzly products but they do not have this
particular grinder. The problem with Grizzly is that
you must hace a delivery place with space to
acomodate semi trucks and I do not have that kind
of facilities. Thanks again.
Does the tooling arm move out any further? I’ve ordered one after seeing the 1st review . I’m glad to see someone else do another . I was wondering if a 2x48 belt could fit if the the tooling arm stretched out any further
I’m betting on being able to replace the arm altogether for different attachments I’ll be making as well as lengthening the one for the platen to fit 2x48.
😛
I've got one on backorder,as soon as I get it in going to make longer arms so I can run 2x48 belts which I have on hand
I’m sending Grizzly an email to see if they’re making a model for European voltages 220-240v.
Nice rig. You can add a 3/16 inch thick glass/ceramic platen to the existing one. How is the tool rest mounted to the shaft? Is there any way to add a larger plate?
Thanks I’ll look into that. The plate does move on two plains. The platen also angles. I’ll be fiddling with that soon. I also have ideas for other attachments to build for my needs. All in good time.
I've made a whole new D plate and platen system utilizing 2 x 8 glass platen as well as 2 x 48 inch belts. Waiting for parts to finish the workrest.
@@mcrich1978got pics or video? I’m interested
😛
Most abrasive belt manufacturers will make custom length belts any size you want. Cost is a bit more than stock size belts, but not a lot. Means that possibilities for attachments are limitless.
😛
Does it bog down if you put pressure on?
Yes. Low speed easier than high. Thicker steel vs thinner. I only bought mine for finishing work, not hogging.
@@straightedgedmafia I wonder if a bigger motor can go on there? Maybe 1hp. Looks like a good sharpener.
I heard a few motors burnt out on their first use. Not sure if Grizzly replaced them. I’m going to wait until I need it. Maybe buy then Grizzly it someone might have it figured out.
@@straightedgedmafia Grizzly solved the motor problems on the late models, Burn motors are replaced free of charge.
I removed the guards on mine for radius stuff and I got a lot of chatter, idk maybe my speed wasn’t right I’ll be interested in what you think but I see a different mod with a single wheel, think it was 4” that looked interesting but I haven’t seen him use it yet
I’m waiting on my 2x48 belt to use the small wheel adapter, then I’ll demo. Thanks for the comment.
I’m on the list , back ordered right now. They say sometime next month
That may have the reason Amazon does not have it.
Thanks
I’m ordering one tomorrow lol
😛
